Chapter 170: Last vision

Through death, there is life. He knew what it meant, but felt it had a deeper meaning. Almost like a reference to the great Athos and his fall.

These must be the tombs of the first demons he created. He thought glancing at the dozens of tombs laying here.

According to some documentaries he watched back on earth, it was recorded some angels followed in lucifer footstep. The assumed demon king and were cast down from paradise. Though this was considered a myth, it represented a great symbol for spiritual believers.

Offering prayers and sacrifices to the one they referred to as the holy one, in return for protection against dark forces and bad luck. Though he didn’t believe in all these, he couldn’t prove they were false.

But nothing was ever recorded about Athos, the celestial city nor what he’d just witnessed. Which was the light’s doing.

Coward! Kyle frowned his hatred for the for the light and all primordial increasing. It was one thing to setup a ridiculous law due to certain reasons. But another to discard your favorite angel like trash, without thinking twice.

You’re no great god but a hideous coward who deserves death.

Before becoming a demon, he never believed in such fairytales. But grew a deep hatred for them due to the portrayal of their evil nature. But since his encounter with Lilith those walls had been shattered and his eyes opening to the possibilities not all demons were bad.

Turning he was about exploring the catacombs but stopped in his tracks feeling a sharp pain assault his head.

Argh! W-what’s happening? He groaned in agony falling to his knees. The unbearable pain disrupting his senses, causing his vision to go blurry.

Snows voice echoed in the distant background but his sense of hearing was blocked by this excruciating pain coursing throughout his nerves. Image of his missed flight popping up in his view accompanied by the events that followed. His meeting with yua, the first ever blissful experience with the masochist Akemi. the unexpected fight to the death in the alley, his hospital experience and Kimi’s sudden illness.

All those information flooded his head like a tidal wave. It wasn’t pretty in the slightest, but a horrid experience to pass through. But it was far from over as the next set of scenes followed.

Their relocation to vaanderwood, his meeting with lilith’s old friend, the cunning vampire that betrayed them. How could he forget? He was constantly endangered whilst his training with the intoxicating vampire. Having to fend off foes stronger than him with his intuition.

The memories were still vivid like it had occurred yesterday along with the bitter reality of how foolish he’d been to trust a vampire. Flashes of the next rows of memories played out swiftly, ending with his fated encounter with lucifer.

Argh! He barely managed to let out a scream, feeling the pain gradually departing him. But it was far from over as the next set of memories pried into his head, earning yet another scream from him.

Like an outdated computer he ran this information downloading processed data into his system. It was a miracle he still regained consciousness as weaker individuals would’ve long passed out.

Why is it showing me all these? Isn’t this categorized as my past? Having lived past the hellish events with troy he wondered why the labyrinth displayed these scenes as present. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

The present is like a never-ending structure constantly changing shape and bending to your will. A mysterious voice spoke in his head.

That must be the being overseeing this labyrinth. He thought recognizing that voice as the same imposter Kimi used.

Imposter? Tsk.. as expected from a demon. The voice scoffed. A snapping sound could be heard followed by the stoppage of the vision on lumia. Slowly fading away, restoring his vision.

Panting he was glad the dilemma was finally gotten rid of. The consuming pain disappearing without a trace. Checking with the system the connection had been reestablished.

You can stand right? The customary female voice dragged him from his thought. staggering to his feet the influence of the discomfort pealed on him.

Why?

I think you’d have to be more specific. A sly smirk tug at the corners of her lips gawking at Kyle. Overlooking her uncomfortable glare, he tried studying her.

As an imposter the key to impersonating someone isn’t jus t copying the physical feature but also their dialogue and personality. Now the mimic had done well in these aspects but imposter Kimi had opted to discard kimi’s tone for some reason.

Why did you bring me here, what is your reason? Was the only question he sought astonishing the young woman.

I thought you would have a million questions to ask. She puffed her cheeks in anger, a look of disappointment directed at him.

Isn’t it simple? I just love my nephew.. she smirked seductively licking her lips.

I don’t take likely to things disrespecting my aunt. He scorned already disgusted.

Tsk.. you have no sense of humor. Snapping her fingers her form changed, reverting into a beast unlike any he’d ever seen.

It had the body of a dragon with long neck, sharp deadly claws. Steel reinforced black scales that blended perfectly with the night. Even a long tail, gently sweeping around the floor.

It was huge reaching about 9 feet tall, with a definite width. At its back were not two, but four monstrous black wings. Resembling boney burnt-out feather extensions with sharp tips.

To crown this incredible monster was the head of what looked like a cobra with enchanting red eyes.

So, this is its true form. Kyle thought not expecting such transformation.

Impressed right? I know.. I out do myself sometimes. The creature crackled in appraisal of its glory.

I’ve seen better. Kyle vaguely spoke without a shroud of interest.

Hmhmm! What’s this I see? Rebellion? The beast snickered puffing out hot steams from its big nostrils. Completely disintegrating some unlucky rocks.

Such heat from just a huff, this is the real deal. It was nothing short of a miracle how he still stood under the overwhelming pressure emitted by this beast.

If you’re done being scary let’s get this over with. He calmly said refusing to back down. Staring at him the colossal titan didn’t speak, simply encircle him. Its eyes brimming with intrigue.

Your part of the special ones right? She uttered in her bestial tone. Now I see why he spared you.

Drawing a pattern on the floor it glowed with an ethereal cyan light. Pulsing with a new type of energy he hadn’t felt.

Step into the room and you’ll be reunited with your parents out of the castle to your next quest.

Scoffs* and why would I believe you? Kyle sarcastically rolled his eyes obviously not buying into such lies.

If I wanted you dead trust me, you wouldn’t be here. It sounded more like a threat than a warning and Kyle could sense it wasn’t fooling around.

I cant possibly trust it, I mean the fact it didn’t kill me now could just be its plot to let my guard down. He contemplated. So far there was no exit out from the labyrinth he’d seen so far and the mor he stayed he could feel his senses losing track of reality.

It must’ve been days. ever since stepping foot in sandhill castle he noticed time moved differently, though he couldn’t prove it for sure. But now in the labyrinth it’d been a few hours but felt like days had passed by.

[this might sound weird but am not picking up any killing intent from it.]

Seriously?

[I know what you’re going to say but hear me out. From my scan results there’s no way out of here. Reason being this space somehow keeps on shifting changing itself in distorted patterns making it hard to pinpoint an escape route. Am sure you’ve sensed it also but time is indeed affected here controlled at will by the suspected primordial. A being capable of not only killing but wiping you from existence.]

[engaging in a fight with it would not just be pointless but share stupidity and a definite loss. She might have hidden agendas why she’s helping us but I strongly advise we get out of here now and focus on that later.]

Listening to his system she was undeniable right. The odds stacked against him was just to much, with failure lurking at each way he chose to go.

Fine. I don’t trust you but am sick of this place.

Excellent choice, you’re not all brans and no brains after all. Stepping back to a lengthy distance she gave way for kyle passage. Entering the rune, the light glowed fiercer, completely enveloping him.

The quest you embark on is a perilous one demanding tough choices you must make. I advise you to listen to the voice in your head, not your heart. The beast yelled as his body submerged into the light.

Is this my subconsciousness? He thought floating around in an endless black space.

Kyle~ two faint voices echoed in the darkness. Recognizing them as his parent he floated to them, drifting a while until he reached a light at the end of the tunnel.

What happened? He asked eyes slowly fluttering open. Besides him were none other than xia and ron in the same condition he left them.

Big boom! pass out. Xia gestured to which he nodded.

Could it be just a dream? He doubted such imprinted as one of the locations appearing on the map.

Wait.. w-where is it? He stuttered unbelieving his eyes right now. The imprinted design of sandhill castle gone like it was never there to begin with.
