Chapter 203: Safe bunker

’impressive.’ Wheeler commented, spitting a mouthful of blood. His arms transforming into silver sickles, elongated to about 4 feet long.

"Now go to hell." Stomping his foot he shot out like a blur. Reaching the first dsrgon in no time.

Taken aback by the sudden increase in speed it wasn’t given time to dodge. Leading to it’s decapitated head.

Moving to the next just 2 strps away, it was prepared seeing his comrade head cleanly cut off.

’Swoosh!’

It swiped both claws at wheelers head, casuing the latter to duck down. Severing it’s lower legs from it’s knees. Using the sliding momentum to sink the sharp tips of the silver sickles into it’s head. Killing it with ease.

Grabbing a car sized boulder, the last dargon hurled it at wheeler. Knowing it’s fate if he closed the distance between them. Unfazed wheeler didn’t block or dodge, meeting the object with his own atack.

’Swoosh! Swoosh!’

Wheeler’s transformed sickle arms moved fast, like silver blurs. Slicing the boulder into pieces, like hot knife cutting through butter.

With a solid stance, his right leg stretched back a bit. His upper body slightly leaning forward, witgh lowered head.

Slashing both his dual sickle arms in an X arc. Decapitating the dargon’s upper body into about 4 or more pieces. Blood sprayed everywhere dying his silver armour with some parts of grin.

The dargon’s lifeless body crashing to the ground with a heavy thud.

’So strong.’ Layla’s eye widen watching the luitenant go.

She knew he was powerful, but had never seen him in action until now. Which made her wonder just how many monsters was Lumia kingdom really harbouring.

Not uttering a word, Wheeler’s feet advanced forward. The duo naturally following behind their supposed leader.

With heads raised high and a confident smirk. Grateful to have such a powerhouse in their favour.

Abruptly stopping Lucia’s and layla followed suit. Their senses on high alert for a supposed ambush whatsoever. The blue beam cannons glowing with a soft blue hue, pointed at a particular location.

"Come out." Wheeler calmly spoke, his eyes fixated towards a residential apartment.

’Could it be civilians in hiding?’ Lucia’s thought.

When the invasion had occured, they’d managed to evacuate a large portion of the civilians. Into the constructed bunker, reaching about 20 feets down below.

It’s structure made from a mix of linder and titanium steel. Giving it a dexterous durability with high endurance. Capable of withstand a blast 10× the force generated from the beam cannon at high voltage.

But it was no doubt there was the possibility they’d missed some individuals. Or they somehow got seperated from the groups being evacuated.

Sensing no movement,or willingness to approach. A frown formed to Wheeler’s face, his little patience growing thin. Hanging by a thread that would soon snap any moment.

"I won’t ask again. Show your faces or die. Euther way is fine by me." His tone was cold, highlighting his seriousness.

’He’s just bluffing right?’

Layla being a low ranking space guard, wasn’t present at most in the castle. And while she’d seen the luitenant’s and commander a couple of times. She never really did understand them, far from fellow partners.

The margin between their leagues were just too wide. Even if she trained like crazy for days, she wouldn’t be able to fit in their shoes. All because of one advantage that seperated them.

’An ability.’

She’d always cursed her luck, for being unfortunate with awakening an ability. Placing herself as trash and worthless, occupying space.

In here power was everything, and will she possessed a decent physical stat. It didn’t count as extraordinary but plain like the others.

And she was already grateful obtaining a spot as one of the kingdom’s royal guards. Not caring to dream beyond her reach, as it was pointless.

Taking a step, wheeler was about fulfilling his promise. Until a voice stoped him in track.

"Wait! We’re coming out." The female voice spoke.

And out from the building emerged a female in a black dress. Wearing an overall white labcoat, with a symbol inscribed to the chest

Behind her were space guards, some individuals dressed in the same white coat. And the others wearing the official brown jumpsuit.

"Miss reze~" Layla uttered immediately recognizing the woman.

Flashing a light smile, reze calmly waved at the trio. Her left hand clutching the side of her guts, which appeared to be bleeding.

"Are you alright, What happened? Was the teleportation bay infiltrated by those beasts?" Lucia’s asked with worry lacing his tone.

It had just been some few minutes that’d passed, since the dargons retreated. And they were in pursuit on their tail, killing the few they’d come across. So he theorized they shouldn’t have reached the bay this quickly.

Sighing, reze expression darkened turning more grim. Wheeler could read her facial expression, so he already guessed what transpired.

"Unfortunately.. yes the teleportation bay was infiltrated." She gritted her teeth, making Lucia’s and Layla’s face go pale.

Asides from the castle the teleportation bay was the second most protected building. With defenses equivalent to that from the castle.

"It seems we’re under attack from a set of cunning intelligence beasts. Aboard the black scaled like spaceship, which plans to gsin access to the teleporting pad." Reze explained, clenching her teeth through the sheer pain assulting her nerves.

"We already know they plan to destroy the teleporting bay." Wheeler frowned, deeming her information as old news he already pieced together.

"Destroy?" She tilted her head, with a confused glare.

"I wouldn’t jump to conclusions just yet luitenant. These beasts there far more perceptive than we think. Why the want access to the teleporting pad is unsure. But i assure you if they aimed to destroy the pad from the onset then they’d have already done so."

Listening to her the frown on Wheeler’s face deepened. At first he’d judged the dargons planned to destroy the bay, thereby grounding them off. And picking away at them, one at a time.

But with reze comment, it made him think otherwise.

"What are you suggesting their motive is?" He calmly asked.

Not responding immediately, she placed her hand to her chin. Her dark pupils gleaming with an inquisitive flare.

"This is just a theory, but i guess they plan to steal the teleporting pad." She strenly suggested, causing wheeler to breakout in laughter.

"A guess? Haha! Not what i expected from Lumia’s finest lead scientist." Wheeler mocked, causing reze brows to twitch in rage.

"It’s not a guess but more of an assumption. Think of it, if they really planned to destroy the pad then why go through all these stress? They could’ve easily focused their main attack to the teleportation bay. And not the entire kingdom at large." She spoke with a composed expression. Her back leaning against a wall.

"And the fact they arrived here through flight solidifys my assumptions." She concluded with a serious expression.

Reasoning her words, wheeler couldn’t deny there was truth in what she said. But he couldn’t imagine what a set of beasts planned to do with a teleporting pad.

Not only was it very complex to operate and understand. It required a large amount of mana stones for activation. Not adding the various equipments such as the conduit pillars, field generators, etc.

"What’s the status of the bay?"

"There were minor casualties sustained to some equipments at the loading dock. But nothing of significant damage to the teleportation bay. Miss lisa is also holding off the dargons, urging for our departure."

Hearing her, he was surprised hearing such name. Not expecting a person of her status to be present here at this particular time.

"She was escorting the victor of the 54th annual hunger games. Along with his friends, courtesy of the king. Until disaster struck, leading to her aid in the fight."

"Victor of the hunger games huh?" He muttered, the name ringing a bell.

Though he’d never actually seen the winner, clearly not interested. Deeming such as insignificant. He’d heard rumors and gossis from the criwds of people on his ruthless killing style and defiant attitude.

’Sounds like trouble.’ Wheeler thought planning to take care of such individual later.

"Recede to the bunker while the rest of yu space guards head to the castle. The king’s currently engaged in a fight with a strong opponent and might need backup." Wheeler uttered earning looks of shock and disbelief.

"Don’t think for a second he’s weak or struggling. It’s possible he’s already dealt with such threat. But with the never ending swarm of these beasts, it’s possible he’s currently facing more. Which would wear him down, if a stronger foe were to appear."

"By stronger, you mean leader. Right?" Reze asked to which wheeler nodded. Confirming her theory of a leader, far stronger than any dargons they’d faced so far.

Ending the conversation, wheeler blasted off towards the teleportation bay. While reze led the group of scientists and logistics team to the bunker.

Lucia’s with layla and the few space guards in fighting condition. Proceeding back towards the castle.

’Why do i have a feeling this is coming to an end.’ He didn’t know why, but he felt this would all soon be over.

And while he was meant to be happy, his heart leaned towards a possible plot twist.
