Chapter 213: I’m the king

’Zap!’

A loud static humming could be heard, amongst the energy bullets. Followed by high pitched electricity, crackling with dangerous intensity.

Surging around the creature’s chest, spreading all over it’s body. Engulfing the flowers in lightning.

’Boom!’ Without warning, the dargon exploded in an outburst of lightning.

Blasting the flowers away, Lisa returning back to normal. Suffering some heavy burns to her body.

"Miss Lisa!" Kyle yelled, seeing her severely injured.

"It’s nothing. I’m fine, don’t get close!" She yelled back, her voice slightly raspy.

’How does it still have any mana or strength left?’ She questioned, clearly sapping out almost all it’s mana and strength.

Which should’ve left it weak and prone to attacks. Without any mana stones nearby, to feed from.

’It doesn’t matter. As long as it’s trapped in my picot cage, there’s no breaking out from it.’ She thought, putting faith in her wooden cage.

Standing it’s ground against the blue lightning bolts. Snarling with evil intent, small domes of lightning shockwaves were generated from it’s body. Clashing against the picot cage, seizing the opportunity Lisa stretched her hand.

Attempting to activate a skill.

’Ahh!’ She screamed in agony, her plan backfiring against her. Falling to a knee, a sharp pain assaulted her body. Stinging it like multiple bee stings.

Temporarily disabling her movements.

’A paralysis effect from the lightning bolts.’ She could see it, the parts of her body struck with the dargon’s strange blue lightning flickering. With sparks of blue current, restricting he from using mana.

"Damnit! I never thought I’d say this, but you’ve far exceeded all my expectations." She said with a light chuckle, slightly shaking her head.

’There’s seriously something wrong with this beast ability.’ It was no doubt this dargon was peculiar than the rest.

Not only having a distinct tough blue scaled skin, seemingly almost impenetrable. But toppled with a troubling ability, that could spell doom for making one wrong move.

Persevering through the bone shattering pain, she struggled to her feet. Wobbly like jellies, but she managed to hold on.

’He’s still unconscious.’ Glancing back at troy, he was still unconscious. The little flowers under his palm fulfilling their purpose.

’I couldn’t afford to risk the dargon’s attention, so his healing process is certainly slow but still.’ She tried to hide the frown which formed to her face. Annoyed by her weakness still unable to finish this beast off.

Staring at the beast, she made an observation; "Something’s not right~ It’s aura, did it just get stronger?"

The blue lightning bolts seemed to have gotten a buff. Not only rattling the picot cage, but also protruding out the small gaps in-between.

’Bang! Bang!’

Multiple energy bullets cut through the air, directed at the dargon. They weren’t causing any severe damage like she’d expected. Considering the beast was weaker than before, she expected somewhat harm inflicted upon it.

"Wait. Those bullets~ they’re made from mana." Her eyes widened upon the sudden realization of something.

"Stop!!" Lisa yelled in a hurried tone, flagging down Kyle to discontinue his attack.

’Why is she stopping me? I know these are ineffective but still, it’s better than nothing. Right?’ He frowned, slightly insulted.

[Oh no~] Snow weakly uttered.

’What? Why do I have the feeling you’re going to say something bad.’ A light sigh escaped his mouth, accustomed to his system speech patterns.

[The dargon, it’s feeding off the energy bullets fired at it.] She spoke in a grim voice.

"Hey! A—are you listening to me!? I said stop!!" Lisa yelled, attempting to run, but could only leap.

"The beast lightning ability enables it to feed from all attacks containing mana energy. Thereby charging and replenishing it’s!" She shouted, but was too late.

The mana stones on the machine gun turning dark, it’s energy already exhausted on the dargon.

"Roar!!!"

With a loud roar, the beast snapped with newfound energy. The glow in it’s body returning back, with flashes of lightning surrounding it.

Gripping the bars, the blue lightning was redirected to it’s palm. Attracted to the wooden cage like a conduct, electrifying it. Forming what resembled a copied version of Lisa’s cage.

Except coated in lightning, in exchange for the wood.

’Boom!’ Like a built up fam, the contained lightning overflowed.

Destroying the picot cage, sending large bolts if lightning everywhere. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Shit." Kyle clenched his teeth, seeing a bolt heading straight at him really fast. Unable to move his body in time, he could only brace himself.

’Bang!’ A small wall made of wood erected in front. The lightning bolt colliding with it, leaving a small scratch mark where it struck.

"Thank you."

"You’re welcome, but this barrier isn’t going to last long. Take the king along with the few individuals you can carry, and run. I’ll hold it back for as long as I can." She yelled, struggling to stand. Keeping the erected barriers shielding everyone.

"No." Kyle immediately refused, Lisa taken back.

’He didn’t even reason it but bluntly refused.’ She frowned, wondering if kyle had a death wish.

"Are you crazy!? If I can’t beat this thing, then you sure can’t! Our only hope is the king, and we can’t do that if he’s dead." She sternly declared through gritted teeth.

Sinking her legs more to the ground.

"I’m done running, if this is where I take my last stand then so be it." Kyle calmly spoke with a neutral expression.

"He’s serious~" Staring into his eyes, she knew Kyle wasn’t joking around.

"As expected from a demon." She lightly muttered, a soft smile escaping her lips.

"Hey you! Dargon.. don’t tell me this is all you got. My pet hits harder than you, and she’s dead!" She teased, laughing like a maniac. Further enraging the beast, lightning surging around it.

"I never knew she had dark humors." He blinked a few times, to be sure this was Lisa speaking.

[Me neither. Who knows.. she might be a yandere to your harem collection.] Snow hinted, earning a scoff from kyle.

Stretching it’s right leg back, the ground slightly caved in. Several bolts striking deep holes to the floor.

"The plan remains, but as much time possible for the king until he awakens. Sacrifice everything if necessary, he’s our trump card."

Nodding Kyle got in position, standing in Troy’s front as the last means of protection if need be.

[Does this mean you’ve both settled your difference for a greater cause?]

"Hell no! I’m still going to kill him the first chance I get after this."

’Bam!’

The dargon disappeared from spot, it’s body transforming into a lightning bolt. Stretching her hand, a shield rectangular in shape formed. It wasn’t like picot cage or any other wood shed used.

Being dark in colour, having a more sturdier and smooth frame. Like cleanly cut out steel, with little colored flowers encasing it.

’Boom!"

A huge explosion went off as both objects collided together. The ground instantly giving out, caving in slightly threatening to collapse.

’Just a little bit longer.’ Lisa gritted her teeth, supporting herself with vines. From being pushed back, by the opposing lightning bolt.

’Crack!’

"No~" Lisa’s face turned pale hearing that. The pressure from the bolt intensifying.

"Why isn’t it working? There should be some reduction in it’s attack power."

The wooden shield in use now was more stronger and durable than picot cage. Created from a scarce type of dark wood, which was unnamed.

And with the addition of the fatal attraction flowers, she was killing two birds with one stone. Staying on defense and offense at the same time.

"Impossible, how is it even doing that!?" Before her eyes, she could feel her blood being drained.

Her skin turning pale a bit, from the constant exposure to electricity. Toppled with the sparks of current on her injuries. Frequently adding more damage overtime, the longer it stayed.

Halting her healing powers greatly, zapping a surge of current to her brain every time she tried to heal herself.

But that wasn’t what caught her attention, no! She could feel it. Her mana being sapped by none other than the beast. Adding to it’s own, making her weaker than before.

’Crack!’

"Not good~" She panicked, making her loose concentration. Causing the wooden shield to falter, succumbing to the alpha attack incoming. Shattering into bits.

"So this is how I die, not bad." She warily chuckled, a ball of tear slipped down her cheeks. Accepting her death with open arms.

Not comfortable staying idle, Kyle was about taking a step. But he didn’t have too, am object darting past him.

’Swoosh!’

A sharp gust of wind flew past in a flash, milliseconds before the bolt pierced her.

"Y—your highness." Lisa stuttered with open eyes, in Troy’s clutch.

"You’ve done well Lisa, your father would be proud." Troy calmly muttered, with a light smile.

Dropping her to the ground, his attention shifted to the beast behind. "I see you’ve caused quite a havoc to my castle."

The latter spoke in a composed tone, yet one could sense the malice hidden in it.

"How are you still alive!? I knew I left you for dead so-" It paused, lisa’s image flashing in it’s head.

"Of course, so that’s what all this was for. Sighs~ I’m still confused though, why risk her life for a weak trash like you!" The dargon wondered, placing it’s claw to it’s chin.

With a light smile; "Isn’t it obvious? I’m the king."
