Chapter 226: Who’s next?

Deep in one of the safe bunkers setup by Lumia kingdom, in preparation for an invasion. Crowds of people comprising of the kingdom’s population were mostly present here. Along with the space guards, and scientist from the logistics and information lab supervising them.

What was a small debate of rights had spiralled into full fledged assault. Luckily contained quickly, by the brave act of non other than Layla.

"Please, tell me. What can I do to repay the kindness you’ve shown to me." Katie spoke with a soft tone, her head still slightly bowed down.

"What!? No, no~ hehe I couldn’t possibly take something from you. And besides, you’re not meant to be bending like that. It’s bad for your age." Layla kindly refused Katie’s offer, leaning to help her stand up.

"If that is your wish~" Katie softly muttered, clenching her fist. Making layla’s eye widen in shock, having a clear picture of what was going to transpire next.

"Then I shall stand up for myself!" She screamed with crazed eyes.

Lifting her head, along with her hand reaching for layla’s shielded energy sword. The distance between them was really close, so it wasn’t a problem to reach the sword. Catching the female space guard by surprise, who’d opted to help.

"Shit! This is bad, I can’t dodge from this angle." Layla cursed her luck for letting her guard down, and falling into Katie’s trap.

"Say hello to the king on the other side." Katie whispered with a malicious grin, unshielding the sword.

Using the momentum of the upwards thrust to bring the energy sword upwards. In a slash like perspective, aimed at layla’s unprotected head.

"Layla!" Lucia’s yelled, reaching for his beam blaster by his side.

He had a bad feeling about Katie’s suspicions acceptance, which naturally seemed too good to be true. But it was too late to react now.

’Bang!’

A small blue energy bullet cut through the air, heading fast through a path free from people. Colliding into the old hag head, protruding from the other side.

’Thud!’

Layla watched with wide eyes as the woman’s body fell to the ground with a light thud.

"What happened?" She thought, still stunned seeing her life flash before her eyes moment ago. But now the old hag was laying dead in her own pool of blood.

"Hey hey hey! What’s with this whole great liberation I’ve been hearing about!?" Reze said, a sick smile planted to her face.

With some couple of the black stands of her hair, falling at the forefront.

"Miss Reze." Lucia’s stuttered, a bit embarrassed and guilty for not taking any action sooner.

"How many times have I told you, don’t be so formal around me or I’ll kill you." She spoke, making Lucia’s gulp a bit at her threats.

"O-of course, please forgive me." Lucia’s awkwardly chuckled, slightly nodding his head in affirmation.

Adjusting her glasses a bit, she calmly made her way through the crowds of nobles. Creating a path for her, not wanting to be caught up in the crossfire of this crazy woman.

"Miss Reze, thank you for saving me i-" Layla thanked, retreating back to the safety of the gates but was stopped by the genius scientist.

Advancing forward, Reze boldly made her way towards the group of commoners and peasants that’d formed sides with the now dead Katie. Her legs steadily marching against the hard floor, a wild smile creeping to her lips.

’What the hell is wrong with this woman. I can tell she can’t use mana, but what’s with this sick suffocating aura she’s emitting.’ Liam thought struggling to breath staring at Reze eyes. The more she got closer, the stronger the terrifying choking aura got fiercer.

"I-it doesn’t matter, we can take her on as long as we join forces!" Bartholin yelled, igniting the dead flames in the heart of the mob. Cowarding in fear from the sight of a single woman.

"Interesting~" Reze lightly giggled, reaching the gates.

Now one would’ve expected her to stop, being the only reasonable thing to do. But unfortunately or fortunately, she wasn’t called the mad scientist for nothing.

’Clang!’

The doors of the steel gate slammed shut, with the emergence of Reze to the other side.

"Crazy" Bertha shuddered in fear, her eyes staring at a far more deranged individual than Katie.

"So, I’m guessing you’re the few chosen one’s selected for the great liberation huh?" She started, flashing a creepy smile at them. Subconsciously making the crowd take a step back.

"Don’t be scared, you did say you’re going to hurt me. Come on, make me veg and scream your names as you tear my flesh." She spoke in the most lewd and seductive tone ever.

Making more than just heartbeats rise, but something far more lethal.

Standing still, no one from the crowd dared approach her. Scared to the core for their lives, at the sight of this crazy woman.

Sighing, Reze lively expression shifted into that of boredom. "Here, I’ll make it easier for you."

She gestured, dropping the beam blaster to the ground. Seeing this the courage of a few individuals in the rowdy mobs returned.

"Now’s our chance, let’s make her pay for killing our great liberator!" Bartholin yelked, with newfound spark. Leading the few people that’d shared in his idea out to face the unarmed woman.

"That’s the spirit, make me beg!" Reze giggled, sticking her tongue out like a pervert.

"Die freak!" Bartholin shouted, tossing a wooden spear in the air. Directed to Reze, standing with a calm expression.

"Slow." She muttered in an inaudible voice, not bothered about that attack in the slightest.

Simply sidestepping it with Lazer accurate precision, the moment it came close into her proximity.

’She dodged my attack?’ Bartholin’s eye widen in disbelief, seeing Reze casually dodge his attack.

"Everyone, attack at once!" He yelled to which the small group of people roared back.

In their hands were wooden handmade weapons comprising mostly of spears and pitchforks with sharp pointy tips.

"Oh, not playing fair I guess. Sighs~ I didn’t think it’d be this soon." Slightly shaking her head, she pressed a button on her sleek black watch.

Our from her chest sprung out what looked like tiny black liquid. Not resembling goo or water but an unknown substance, enveloping her body starting from her chest region.

"What’s that?" Lucia’s thought, his beam blaster pointed forward not making the same mistake twice. Along with the rest space guards, ready to aid Reze.

But to his surprise, it was no doubt the brilliant scientist chosen by the king himself. Had an ace truck up her sleeves.

The black liquid that moved like ants had fully covered Reze. Hardening in place, transforming into an advanced version of the black space armour.

’Clang! Clang!’

The charging crowd didn’t halt or falter in their charge. Following true with their attack and baraging Reze in a series of attacks.

Some stabbing the sharp spears forward with murderous glares, while the others with pitchforks as weapons clawed at her.

’Snap! Snap! Snap!’

Multiple snap sounds were heard, as the weapons that came in contact with Reze armour broke. Snapping into two from the unmovable steel wall, which was Reze.

Calmly standing still, without a scratch to her suit.

"Impossible, there’s no damage to her armour." Liam muttered with a dumbfounded expression.

Just like Bertha and the majority of commoners and peasants, he’d decided to stay back. Not wanting to be caught up in Reze rage, watching how she didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger against Katie.

"Come on, try harder. Please, make me scream!" Reze begged, her tone laced with mischief and satire. Urging the angry mob with confused faces to stab her more.

’Just how insane are they?’ Layla thought watching the whole thing along with Lucia’s.

As space guards, they had a brief idea of what went on in and out the castle. But it never did, and will sit right with them.

"I-it’s pointless, she can’t be harmed!" A stout man holding a pitchfork exclaimed.

"Treachery I tell you, treachery!"

"Retreat. All hope is lost!" The small crowd of angry mob retraced their footsteps back. Seeing their efforts in causing any damage to Reze futile.

"Not so fast." Dashing from spot, Reze was way faster than an average space guard. Catching on to the fleeing humans in an instant.

Grabbing two men’s head, she slammed them together. Restricting her strength not to kill them, but make them unconscious.

Not stopping she headed onto a female, slamming her leg to her guts. Chucking her in the air, her eyes rolling back turning white.

Seizing the opportunity, a man plunged the wooden spear to her head. But she was way faster, grabbing in to his weapon. Crushing it with her bare hand, leaving him stupendified.

But not for long, knocking him out the next moment.

"How is she this strong, and what’s this creepy sensation from that black armour!?" Bartholin frowned, ahead of the crowd running back to safety.

"Luckily I made a headstart before she fully changed, so I should be-" His words got stuck in his throat, feeling a cold grip on his shoulders.

Gulping he didn’t need to look, already having the knowledge who it was.

"Where do you think you’re going silly? You were going to make me beg, remember?" Reze lightly chuckled, causing Bartholin’s leg to tremble more in fear.

"Stay away from me freak!" He screamed attempting to back slap Reze. Which backfired terribly against him.

"Ahh! My hand!" He screamed, clutching his now broken hand.

"Didn’t think that through, did ya?" Shaking her head, Reze clenched her fist. Not holding back, and slamming it into Bartholin’s gut.

Lifting him slightly off the ground. Not stopping she utilized her speed, grabbing him from the back mid-air. Slamming him hard to the floor.

"Alright then, who’s next?" She innocently giggled, making the people of the great liberation curse their lucks, for every choosing sides with the old woman.
