Chapter 236: Undying Grit

’She took the full force of my fist and there wasn’t even a crack in the suit. Just what is that thing made of?’ Kyle wondered, impressed Reze was able to take his attack scot-free without any damage.

[The exoskeleton space armour certainly has traces of linder incorporated in it. Along with another foreign substance not recorded in my database.] Snow explained to which Kyle inwardly nodded.

He’d expected nothing short of the legendary brilliant scientist of Lumia kingdom. The designer of the space guards armour and most of the items present in the kingdom.

But to take his full strength head on and not budge? Now that some next level space gear, he was starting to envy.

Swinging her arms to gain momentum, she wasn’t worried it would stir up the flames. Considering that the least of her problems now, deeming Kyle the main threat.

Not staying still, kyle headed out to meet her at the center. The two dominant forces in the room flashing like blurs to the rest of the crowds vision.

’She can’t use air slash like him?’ Kyle thought, noting Reze refrained from using the skill Wheeler was in possession of.

It could either mean she wasn’t compatible with it, in this black suit. Another reason being she decided not to, but not taking anything away from her. She was stronger than most space guards combined.

Dodging her vertical slash, he sent his right fist to her gut. Shifting her body in the nick of time, she avoided the hit. Her elongated blade arms transforming into the casual imprint of her hand.

’Zap!’

A static hum could be heard from her open palm, directed to Kyle’s head. An energy charge in motion, with glimpse of blue light at the tip.

’Shit.’ Gritting his teeth, Kyle crossed both his arms raised to his head. Taking the blast from the black armour, sending him skidding back in a straight line.

The blue blast protruded in an unswerving line, heating the air where it passed. Not stopping in it’s momentum, dispelling the energy beam like a beam blaster.

[Get out of there!] Snow urged, highlighting his burning skin.

Being melted by the futuristic version of the beam blasters. Stomping his foot, he literally broke the ground where he stood. Lifting a big enough portion of it up, with the power solely from his feet.

Erecting it up, he used the big piece of concrete as shield. Preventing the blue beam from advancing forth.

"That isn’t going to save you." Reze pouted. Raising her other free arm, the exact blue beam charged in milliseconds. Shooting with deadly intent straight for Kyle, adding more damage to the concrete shield.

’Crack!’

A crack mark formed at the back of the shield, precisely it’s center location. Where Reze attack was directed at it’s peak, further spreading the thin line. Making matters worse.

Noting the shield quality fading, it didn’t take a genius to tell it wouldn’t last for some more seconds. Maintaining a firm stance, he added strength to his legs. Throwing the concrete shield wall out to Reze, stomping his foot right before the shield departed.

"He’s gone." Lucias muttered, watching Kyle disappear from his spot right after he tossed that concrete.

’It’s a trap.’ He contemplated, reenacting Kyle used the concrete as a decoy to catch Reze of balance. While the launched a surprise attack unaware.

"Miss Reze it’s a trap! Get out from the floor proximity!" Lucias yelled, alerting Reze.

Taking a big leap back to the left, she didn’t discontinue in her attack. Causing the huge piece of concrete floor to explode into bits, sending smaller derbies flying everywhere.

"Wrong move." A voice whispered into her ears, making her heart skip a bit.

Grabbing her waist, he locked in his clutch. Slamming her spine first to the ground, creating a small crater. His legs planted solid to the ground, supporting his upper body from touching the ground.

Acting like a bridge.

’Ugh! This is bad.’ Reze frowned laying in an uncomfortable position.

As a scientist, never in her years of experience has she ever been beaten in her own equipment. She wasn’t given special combat training, like ona and the rest space guards.

A direct command from the king himself, labelling her solely as the head technician. So she was way inexperienced than the guards on standby, still she didn’t give up.

’Beep! Beep!’

The internal beeping had grown louder, reaching the ears of the crowd. Filling their faces with dread, the fate of their life would lie in the monster before them.

"I have to find a way to get rid of this flames." The cooling oxidation system emitted a cool dense fog around her body. Cabable of subduing ability users flames, but for some reason, it was ineffective against Kyle’s flame.

Performing a spin kick he twisted his body up, slamming his leg to Reze. Lifting her entire body up slightly in the air. Using the momentum to punch forward at her chest, making a small fist sized crack.

[So that’s where the core is.] Snow blurted out in a shocked tone.

During Reze transformation in that black suit, she’d tried running a scan on her. But her uncanny speed was too tricky for the system processor to pinpoint.

Luckily, Kyle had maneuvered her speed with dark flames, and now her weakness was exposed.

[Aim for the blue core in her chest. That’s the main energy source powering up the suit!] Snow hinted.

About moving, a barrage of blue energy bullets rained down on him. Some piercing through his body, triggering pained grunts.

"Don’t stop firing! He’s cornered, this is our chance." Lucias commanded, instigating the expirated flame in the guards heart.

"Yes sir!" The nodded in unison, their fingers squeezing tightly on the trigger button. Shooting off bullets like rain drops in milliseconds, provoking Kyle’s pent up anger.

"Don’t interfere." He warned in a cold tone, the dark flames burning vividly in his left palm.

"Oh no~" A light gasp escaped Lucia’s mouth, he’d determined the number of times Kyle could use such strong flames were limited.

As they were no doubt powerful, which would require a high amount of mana and concentration. So he opted to capitalize now, seizing this opportunity as the best they could ever get.

"W-we’re dead." A male space guard uttered, trembling at the sight of those flames. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"I can’t die, not now~" Another female added, panicking in spot. Fear clouding her mind stunned in place, her finger hovering above the trigger button.

"What are you doing! Don’t you dare black out on me now, he’s clearly outnumbered. We’re almost-" Layla’s face went pale the next moment, seeing a jet ski of dark flames heading in her direction.

"Layla!" Lucias yelled, reaching for her but it was too late. The dark flames was now face to face with her, and her apprehension had seized her mind.

Certain death was inevitable for Layla, a figure pushed her to the side. Taking her place, the full unleashed flames assaulting her.

"Layla, are you alright?" Lucias hastingly asked, to which she nodded.

"No no no! This is all my fault." She clenched her fist in guilt, seeing Reze engulfed in flames.

[I wasn’t aware you hid the intention to kill her.] Snow calmly spoke, earning a light scoff from Kyle.

’As if I could ever hide something from your prying nature.’ Kyle retorded rolling his eyes.

’Her black suit is special, not only did it manage to absorb the full strength of my hits with little casualties. It’s also fighting to nullify dark flames effects.’ The corner of his lip pursed into a sly smirk.

[Demon energy: 20/50]

The reason he was able to eject another dark flames, even after his limit of two until recharge. Was because, his negative energy consumption had suddenly skyrocketed. Surging the intake his body could absorb, at a higher rate than ever before.

[Like I mentioned earlier.. You were in direct contact with the mana rain, which could possibly trigger an evolution or a couple of increase in your level.] Snow reminded him, with a slightly agitated tone.

.....

The atmosphere was tense, with the lingering smell of burnt iron filling the room. Kyle’s dark flames that’d shot in a straight line, struck Reze. But that wasn’t what caught his attention, no! The flames didn’t extend back, being absorbed by Reze armour.

Selflessly taking all the flames, until he ran out.

"I-is she dead?" Lyra stuttered with teary eyes, seeing Reze unmoving.

"She’s not dead." Melo cleared the ice.

He’d been silent throughout the fight, just like the the crowd. Bearing heavy hearts in hopes of Reze victory.

"It looks like it’s over." Someone from the crowd muttered.

"D-does that mean she lost?"

"We’re so doomed! Doomed I tell you!" The crowd panicked at Reze unforseen lost.

"Shit. T-this can’t be happening, tell me this isn’t the end." Xeblo uttered with a pale expression, falling to his feet.

Standing still, Reze raised her right hand with an unwavering stance. Slightly chuckling, Kyle followed suit. Raising his burnt right hand, acknowledging Reze leadership instinct and undying grit.
