Chapter 246: Vile Vermin

’This wasn’t what I was expecting by excruciating pain.’ Kyle grunted, tightly holding his wrists.

Staring at his left palm, there was a small hole invisible to the normal human eyes. But with his enhanced vision, he could trace the remnant of blue energy. Which was mana left by the parasite.

’Thud!’

His knees crashed to the floor, unable to crouch with the agonizing pain assaulting his arm. It wasn’t just his arm that suffered the effects from the contamination of the savage vermin. But his entire body!

Every single bone in his body aches, suddenly becoming weak. His flesh were shrinking fast before his very eyes, leaving skinny arms. That resembled sticks rather than arms.

His cheeks and facial features weren’t also spared. The meat surrounding them going flaccid, retracting in. Revealing his cheek bones, and shrunken pupils. Hiding under the dark circles on his eyelids.

[Kyle! Are you alright?] Snow hurriedly questioned, watching his mana being drained along with his blood.

"Y-yeah, I’m fine." Kyle managed to get out, amid the excessive pain clouding his reasoning.

’For a larvae, this little sucker sure has some spice to it.’ A weak smile formed to Kyle’s mouth, causing snow to wonder how he had the energy to smile.

The mana parasite wasn’t a common type of beast, very scarce and rare to come by. Only occuring occasionally during high outbursts of mana, under specific conditions. Such as the world’s tears currently ongoing, for more than an hour now.

"I get it feeds o mana but why do I feel my blood is also being drained?" He could feel his bloodstream being depleted before his very eyes.

And even the little strength he had in store slowly fading away. He couldn’t feel the connection of the energy in the mana parasite now dissolved into his blood streams.

But snow could thankfully somehow predict it through his nervous system. And it was still heading up his arm, now in the elbow length.

[Well, I might’ve forgotten to add larvae mana parasites tends to feed on both mana and blood. For a better nutrition and faster growth experience.] She awkwardly chuckled, causing Kyle to only groan in pain.

’Great, I’m a meal to mana worms.’ A light sigh escaped his mouth, unsure whether to be offended or not.

[Just hold on a little longer till it reaches shoulder length. We should have a good chance of exterminating it there, than the elbow joint.] Snow reminded him, making sure to keep his focus attentive.

From his vitals readings she could tell he’d list a considerable amount of blood from a larvae mana parasite. Which was terrifying, as she didn’t want to imagine what havoc a full fledged adult would cause.

But one thing was for sure, Kyle was loosing consciousness fast from the parasite. As the beast continued it’s ascension towards Kyle’s mana core situated at his guts.

[Just a bit more Kyle, it’s almost at shoulder length. Get ready.] Snow hinted, to which Kyle let out a puff of air.

Lying motionless on the ground like a shriveled corpse, drained of blood from a blood sucking entity.

’Squelch.’

The little flesh he has left on his arm slightly twisting in a motioned pattern. Like it had a life of it’s own.

[It’s in spot Kyle, now’s our chance.] Snow shouted with an energetic tone.

"Finally~" A weak sigh of relief escaped his mouth, learning of such information he’d literally been waiting on.

Dealing with bloodstream and channel tunnels, they were similar but not the same. Bloodstream was the passage in which blood cells passed through along with nutrients disgusted. Typically the veins, distributed throughout the body.

While channel tunnel on the other hands were a set of connected distinct veins. Separate from the normal veins transporting blood, instead directing the flow of energy from one’s core throughout the entire system.

"Time to die." His lips barely curved upwards, forming a sick smile.

His mana energy already depleted, allowing full access of his demon energy.

[Demon energy activated.]

The system notification flashed before his eyes, which he dismissed. Focusing on releasing his demon energy, directing it to his left shoulder.

"Mhm." He sharply clenched his teeth the moment his demon energy came in contact with his shoulders.

A foreign sensation situated there, reacting violently to his negative energy. Like a boiling sensation coursing only at his shoulders.

"So hot ~" He weakly muttered, restricting himself from distraction by cutting senses from the terrible agony overwhelming him.

It felt like his body was in fire right now. Not the typical physical damage or burns one got from coming in direct contact with flames. But a more sinister one, similar to the effects of dark flames.

Yet more cruel and dangerously high.

[It’s struggling against the change in environment, keep it up Kyle. It shouldn’t be long until your demon energy finishes it off soon.] Snow remarked with anticipation and worry, watching Kyle release his demon energy to his shoulders.

The reason they’d waited for shoulder length was simple. The mana parasite was a tricky creature with cunning intellect. If they’d acted sooner with the switch up, the parasite would’ve forcefully excluded Kyle’s body back into Troy.

Which would not only harm Kyle’s core in the process but also spell instant doom for troy. Hence leading to the trap of luring the beast as far as possible into Kyle’s body, while maintaining a safe distance from his core.

Which required the absolute feeding of his mana energy, absorbed by the creature. Fending off his bloodstream to more greener pastures, his life force.

’It feels like my arm is about to fall off.’ a Kyle groaned, struggling to keep his shaky arm at bay.

It was numb and extremely hot, some visible movements from the struggling mana parasite at the top of his shoulder. Creating small bite marks to his skin, in attempt to flee from this hell’s chamber of torture.

"Oh no you don’t." Expelling his demon energy more, he poured out every single ounce he could muster.

Halting the creature’s antics, pushing it back down his arm a bit.

[Good job Kyle, I can detect the wild mana energy in the beast is gradually decreasing. By my estimate it should take exactly 2 minutes until the parasite is completely destroyed.] Snow stated with tactical Lazer focus analysis.

’2 minutes huh? Guess I’ll have to hold on until then.’ There was no other choice, he’d chosen to bring this upon himself.

So it was either accept the consequences and die, or defy the odds and conquer the vile vermin.

...

"Mhm~" A soft gasp escaped a young woman with dark bulb cut hair. Wearing a black dress and white fitting lab coat.

"W-what happened?" Reze stuttered, her eyes slowly fluttering open.

Gazing round, her vision was slightly impaired, but she could tell she was in the castle.

"Ahh~" She clutched her head, a sharp pain assaulting it along with memories from what transpired.

Standing to her feet, her head was still dizzy since her body was just coming back to life. After what appeared to be a short slumber, that felt like eternity of hibernation.

"I remembered feeling something inject into my stomach and then everything went blank." She recollected with a confused expression, touching her neck.

’It’s not there anymore.’ Tracing her fingers against her neck, she searched hard for the blue vein lines but came up short. Even going as far as to check her entire body for any noticeable changes.

"My body feels strange, like something foreign is in him." She couldn’t place her finger on it, but there was no doubt there had been changed altered into her system.

Shrugging the thought of, she noticed some of the people that’d underwent the same condition as her were slowly waking up. A conflicted look plastered in their eyes, after what felt like eternity.

"Miss Reze, are you alright?" Layla softly uttered, her hand placed to her head. Approaching the brilliant scientist, besides Lucias.

"Yes, I’m fine. What about you two? Did you also feel pass through what transpired with me?" She asked to which they calmly nodded their heads in confirmation.

"It felt like an otherworldly presence gripped my guts, causing me to squirm in pain. Gradually loosing consciousness." Lucias tried to describe, not the best with words.

"Yeah, me too!" Layla butted in, rubbing her flat stomach with outlines of abs?

"Whoa! L-look at this, they weren’t there before." Layla pointed, referring to the little abs that’d formed on her stomach.

"It seems like something transported by the world tears." Reze slightly uttered, adjusting her glasses. "The records from the ancient scrolls about the world tears is translated in a foreign language I’ve yet to decode. But there’s one constant word I did pick up-" She paused, motioning to Layla’s abs.

"Change." She finished, causing tints of red to appear on the innocent pink haired beauty’s cheeks.

"I-i’m lost~" Lucias honestly replied, his eyes slightly twitching.

Sure they space guards were all aware of the ancient scrolls, and the world change constantly referred to in it. But layla’s hard abs didn’t appear to be any noticeable significant change.

"No, not that that." Reze shook her head, placing her finger directly at the left side on layla’s gut. Directly below her abdomen.

"I’m talking about that." She pointed to a small round object, emitting a soft blue glow.
