Triple X System-Chapter 247: Sacrifice
"What is that?" Lucias questioned, narrowing his gaze with a bewildered look. Never coming across such, since his active years as a space guard.
"If my theories are correct, which they always are. That right there should be a remnant from the world tears." Reze calmly stated, crossing her arms just below her two mountains.
"Remnant from the world tears~" They both repeated in awe and disbelief.
Not once in their life had they experienced this type of phenomenon. Honestly, they hardly ever experienced rainfall, not to mention a global world event. Capable of altering an entire planet just for some brief time it occurred, only once in centuries.
"I-if this is a remnant from the world tears, then doesn’t that mean it’s harmful?" Layla asked with a pale face, gently poking the little blue ball situated in her guts.
"Yes." Reze bluntly answered, causing layla’s heart to sink. The once proud look of her muscles contorting to that of discomfort and horror.
"Are you stating layla’s going to die miss Reze?" Lucias added with a frown, causing the discomfort in layla’s eyes to contort into pure dread.
"N-not helping dummy." She muttered through clenched teeth, her eyes slightly twitching.
Not responding, Reze tilted her head a bit staring at the concrete floor. "No. I’m not necessarily sure about information concerning the mythical world tears."
She shook her head, a subtle frown creeping at the corners of her lios.
As a genius scientist, she always questioned things. It was just in their nature, for some reason they just couldn’t control the urge of discovering the unknown. Striving to alter the laws of nature and all things concerning science and beyond.
Temporarily leading to the brief sessions of madness, from time to time. Like an addicted junkie, surviving on borrowed medications.
"But, if it’s been motion for some minutes now, along with our abrupt mysterious predicaments. I’d likely say that thing is safe." She said, making a soft sigh of relief escape layla’s mouth.
....
"Hey~ W-what happened, why am I on the floor?" A male with short blue hair wearing a dark blue tunic pondered. His head a mess of dazed fog clouding his memory.
"Ugh! My head hurts."
"Is it just me or those anyone else feels like their insides had been rearranged?"
"Yeah, my body’s definitely acting strange."
"Me too!"
One by one more of the surviving individuals either saved from the mana rain effect or overwhelmed by sheer will awakened. A new gleam in their eyes, with the foreign like sensation of a new more enlightened body.
"Ahh!" A woman yelled, tugging on the cloth of a short fat noble man. His eyes were closed, body unmoving.
Even his chest failed to rise or fall staying still. His flesh gradually shrunk, loosing it’s nutrient contained turning pale then completely dry.
The blue vein lines running along not only his neck, but his entire body. Giving his body a petrified glowing ominous light, sending a dangerous warning sign.
"Get away from him." Reze suddenly yelled, calling the attention of the woman. Which paid no heed, falling deeper in her seat of grief.
"Those veins, they’re bad news. My watch is picking up insane amounts of raw mana from them." Reze relayed to the duo besides her, a look of worry instigated in her expression.
Wallowing in grief, the now widowed wide of a noble lowered her head. Mourning her deceased husband, until she felt a slight movement.
"Huh?" The woman raised her head, tears and mucus ruining her makeup from the brief crying.
Her eyes focused on the dead body with hopeful intent of the man’s resurrection.
"Something’s not right~" Reze muttered, watching the scene. At first glance, something about this whole little slumber that’d been forced to them was deliberate.
But that wasn’t what bothered her the most, the fact they’d casually woken with no side effects, no harm inflicted, nothing! Made her question her studies on the ancient scrolls.
Glancing down to her watch, now beeping rapidly. Her eyes widened, along with disbelief smothered to her face.
"Guards! Get her away from there now!" Reze ordered with a fast tone, her breathing becoming slightly rough.
Sensing the urgency behind Reze words, the closest space guard nearby moved. Closing the short distance between them, grabbing the woman by the shoulders.
"No~ G-get off me! I felt a pulse, he’s not dead but just resisting." She tried to present her case, which fell on deaf ears to the guard. Forcefully pulling her away from the deceased corpse, taking the annoying woman back.
"P-please get up, I’ll make you your favorite food. Just.... Say something Telfe!" She yelled out his name, hoping for a miracle which never came.
’Beep! Beep~’
The blaring of the watch alarm descreased in volume, coming to a halt with the extraction of the noble from the dead man.
’Even in death, it’s still reacting to fresh mana.’ Reze thought, amazed by such intriguing specimen. Itching to conduct an autopsy and run varying tests, once this current situation was figured out.
"It feels like a trailer just rammed into my head." Brazen stuttered with dizzy eyes sitting up straight.
Just like the others, he was previously engaged in a conversation between the perceptive melo until disaster struck.
"Same here, but more like a guy wrenching trailer." Melo muttered, rubbing the back of his head aching in pain.
"What if w-we were attacked by those beasts again. Staging this whole thing as a global phenomenon so they could do weird stuff with our minds and body while we slept." The busty Lyra exclaimed, touching her both mountains to make sure they were still intact. Which hopefully, they still were.
Staring at her with blank faces, they both men were no doubt flabbergasted by the busty confident woman. She had this unknown charisma of always drawing attention to herself, even though she didn’t try.
"She might be right." Melo suddenly uttered, causing brazen to direct his awkward stare at him.
"D-did you loose your keen sense of reasoning or are you under a spell from that dramatic queen." Brazen scrunched his brows, directly pointing to the busty beauty clearly aware they were referring to her.
"Hey! I’m still here." She pouted, stomping her foot in annoyance. Causing the slight gallop of her two stallions, which didn’t go unnoticed by the cultured society.
Easing the pain of the few dao men that’d sneaked a glance her way. Brightening they’re gloomy smiles a bit.
"Shameless ~" Both the petite beauty Blina, her older sister. And the calm and unpredictable purity queen Fiona coldly uttered together, darting a fierce glare of intimidation at the busty woman.
.....
"Mhm." A light gasp escaped lumia’s mouth, her eyes slightly twitching open.
’What happened?’ She wondered, laying flat on her back gazing to the ceiling.
Groaning, she managed to support her upper body to sit up. Her head still in pandemonium from the excruciating pain she’d suffered.
’I must’ve overexerted myself to be this groggy.’ Touching her neck, it itched like a skin rash one contracted. Added with a brief burning sensation, that got hotter the more she continued.
’They got through.’ A light sigh of relief escaped her mouth, thankfully seeing the unconscious crowds awaking from their slumber.
"Father~" She weakly called out, searching for Troy. Spotting him just besides her, briefly groaning in pain.
Rushing she checked his pulse through his neck, now warm above the normal human temperature. Lines of faint blue energy running across his neck, receding back into his body.
’It’s steady, but his energy is barely visible.’ The mana levels emitting from his body was really low. Barely detectable, even his core was slightly dull blue in colour.
"C-come on, wake up." She tugged his body hard, making him groan more in pain.
"D-did I forget to add you have your mother’s strength~" He barely uttered, his tone lacking enough strength to speak properly.
"Princess! Your majesty! You’re both finally awake." A soft voice pulled her and troy’s attention.
Looking a bright smile formed to her face, seeing a figure she recognized.
"Miss Reze, it’s been ages." Lumia smiled, helped to her feet by Layla. While Lucia’s helped Troy stand, supporting him by placing his shoulders over his head.
Giving a light bow in her honour, along with lucias.
"Likewise.. I see you’re still as young and beautiful as ever." Reze returned the smile, adjusting her glasses.
"Your highness." She moderately bowed, earning a vague nod from the king.
Nodding, the genius scientist then briefed them on the conditions of the civilians. "Unfortunately, the losses recorded were over 50. Further adding to the casualties sustained, bringing our number down to 200." She listed with profound guilt and frustration.
"I see~" Troy uttered with his poker face, inhaling light amounts of air.
’Where did he go?’ Lumia wondered, glancing towards the location Kyle previously stood.
Tilting her head, she could see a body laying face down to the floor. Several blue crack lines running all over his body.
"Kyle!" She shouted rushing over to him. Attempting to touch him, she was stopped by Reze.
"Don’t, there’s a high frequency of wild mana inhabiting his body. Along with what is presumably a parasite, feeding off his life force." Reze stated in a low tone, causing lumia’s pupils to shrink more.
’A parasite huh, so that’s what it was.’ The ruthless king shook his head, clutching his ribs.
"He’s dying, isn’t there a way to save him? Probably one of the medical facilities?" She suggested, all to which Reze shook her head.
"I’m sorry princess, the damage done to his body is far beyond treatment. I’m afraid at this point, his own survival is in his hands." She stated, her attention shifting to Kyle unmoving.
