Unlimited estates for rural beauty-Chapter 107: The Successful Cultivation of Sixty-Eight Plants - The Sparrow Turns into a Phoenix (1)
Xiao Chen followed his finger and discovered a needlework box with an unfinished garment inside, its base white and adorned with red blossoms. Although the embroidery wasn’t complete, it already appeared quite vibrant, exuding a sense of wild, unrestrained beauty. Xiao Chen really liked it, so he let go of Feng Xuxu, stepped forward to pick it up, and the more he looked at the flowers on it, the more he liked it. It even surpassed the double-sided embroidered handkerchiefs in his hand. This was the first garment that his little lady had made for him, and it was also the third garment that a woman had made for him in this world.
"Xuxu, what flowers are these? They’re beautiful; I like them," Xiao Chen stroked the flowers on the garment, a soft smile on his face.
"These are Red Spider Lilies. There are many legends about them. Some say they represent sorrowful memories, others that they signify mutual longing, and still others, grace and purity. The beauty of the Red Spider Lily is enchanting," Feng Xuxu stepped forward, touching them as well, as if seeing them bloom strikingly upon the man she loves, utterly captivating.
Xiao Chen raised an eyebrow, the corner of his lips curling into a mischievous smile, "Legends, are they beautiful?"
"Very beautiful, at least that’s what I believe," Feng Xuxu glanced up at Xiao Chen, smiling faintly.
"Hmm, since my Little Xuxu thinks they’re beautiful, then they must certainly be very beautiful," Xiao Chen put down the garment, taking Feng Xuxu into his arms with one hand.
"Chen, why did you come at this time?" She wrapped her arms around his sturdy waist, burying her head deep into Xiao Chen’s arms.
Holding Feng Xuxu, Xiao Chen suddenly realized that the little woman in front of him had grown taller. He broke into a smile, feeling glad, and buried his head deeply into Feng Xuxu’s hair as well.
The two of them thoroughly enjoyed this tender moment, but the more eventful people never seem to pick the right time to appear.
"Ahem, ahem, ahem, I’m saying you two might have had enough, right? This scene is really quite a feast for the eyes. Should I turn away, or should I keep on watching? I wonder if there will be more exciting things to come, I’m looking forward to it," Jueqing raised an eyebrow, hand on his chin, leaning against the door behind him, with an expression that said, ’Go on, I’m all eyes.’
Feng Xuxu heard the teasing voice behind her, her mouth twitching wildly. This world really did have its fair share of nutcases, and plenty of eyesores too. She stepped out of Xiao Chen’s embrace, turned around, and looked at Jueqing.
"I wondered who it was, turns out it’s that guy. I really don’t know what to make of you. If we’re talking about shamelessness, you would be second to none; as for being despicable, tsk tsk, just look at you now, a complete profligate. It seems there truly aren’t many good people left in the world, though I’m certainly one of the few who are – who asked me to be so unlucky as to save you." Feng Xuxu circled around Jueqing, looking him up and down, not finding a single bit of decency. Finally, she proudly walked back to Xiao Chen’s side.
Jueqing looked down at himself. What profligate? He was dressed in the coarse clothing of a servant. Despicable? Shameless? What were those two doing just now, engaging in shy behaviors suggestive of indecency? The young woman was shaking her head – was she implying that he was beyond salvation? Suddenly, Jueqing felt quite miserable, completely unwelcomed. It wasn’t enough that ghosts shunned him, but the young woman as well? He looked up to the heavens, speechless, wondering, What have I done to deserve this?
"Xuxu, don’t stoop to the level of a madman," Xiao Chen said with a sarcastic smile, his lips curled and his eyes provocatively fixed on Jueqing.
"Nobody loves me, I’m off, anyhow I’ve been at this manor for longer than someone has," Jueqing said nonchalantly as he turned to leave, waving at Xiao Chen from behind.
"Chen, you haven’t answered my question yet," Feng Xuxu quickly changed the subject, asking about the previous matter.
"I missed you and wanted to see you; I don’t know when I’ll be back once I leave."
