Unlimited estates for rural beauty-Chapter 491: Why Don’t I Have a Sister in This Life? (1)
Tian Yi left quickly and returned even faster, followed by a few others, each holding several fish in their hands.
As Feng Xuxu was killing an eel, she glanced at the three individuals; each of them carrying about four fish, and her eyelids twitched violently. Dugu Chen followed his wife’s gaze and his forehead was covered with black lines, "You guys clean the fish before coming in."
Xuan Yue had just stepped into the kitchen when he heard the master’s shout. Before he could turn around, Di An bumped into him from behind, pushing Xuan Yue’s foot further into the kitchen. Tian Yi, holding the squirming fish, turned back to look at the two who had collided and signaled with his eyes that they should hastily get on with their tasks before the master lost his temper. Otherwise, they wouldn’t even get to eat the fish bones, let alone the fish.
Di An hastily retreated out of the kitchen, and the three found a spot to begin cleaning the paddy field fish with the daggers they carried for self-defense.
"Tell me, what’s the difference between these paddy field fish and regular fish? Isn’t it just that they look a bit more colorful?" said Xuan Yue, talking while efficiently cleaning the fish in his hands.
Tian Yi also inspected his fish, "Who said they’re the same? Look at the mouth of this fish; it’s different from ordinary fish." He pointed it out with the fish in his hand.
Xuan Yue examined the mouth of the fish he was holding and noticed the difference. On closer inspection, even the fins were different.
"These fish are much smaller than ordinary ones," observed Di An, who had rummaged through the paddy field for a while and found that the largest were only one and a half to two pounds each, unlike ordinary fish that weigh three to four pounds when caught, with larger ones reaching up to about ten pounds.
Xuan Yue and Tian Yi nodded. With such small fish, they could each eat two or three and still not be full.
Qiqi and Yueyue each went back to their rooms. Less than half an hour later, Yueyue emerged with wet hair, looking very anxious, tugging on Aunt Baihe’s hand as they ran towards the kitchen.
As soon as Qiqi left her room, she saw her little sister disappear around a corner; she didn’t need to think twice about following her to find the kitchen, she hastened her steps to follow.
Feng Xuxu frowned slightly at the sight of so many people cramming into the small kitchen, "Qiqi, Yueyue, go play with Uncle Xuan Yue and the others. When mom is done, she’ll call for you."
Dugu Chen stood alone by the chopping block, not even glancing over as he stared at the bowl of bloody eels, his brow deeply furrowed.
Reluctantly, Qiqi and Yueyue followed the others out, looking back every few steps.
"Why are you still staring? Hurry up and wash them clean." Seeing that everyone had left, she turned around to see her husband still in a daze over the bowl of eels and spoke with knitted brows.
"My dear, are you sure these things are edible?" he asked uncertainly once more.
Feng Xuxu scoffed, "When it’s done, you better not eat it; save it so you don’t get poisoned to death."
"Heh, would you really bear it?" Dugu Chen quickly rolled up his sleeves and, closing his eyes, plunged his hands into the bowl to wash the eels after seeing his wife getting somewhat angry.
Feng Xuxu raised an eyebrow and ignored him. In the blink of an eye, she vanished from the spot and reappeared in the kitchen moments later, now holding a small basin filled with Spiritual Spring Water. Dugu Chen had long since become accustomed to this.
Xiaobai and Blue Fox overheard that the master was going to prepare something delicious and couldn’t wait to come out as well, leaving Feng Xuxu no choice but to shrug her shoulders at the addition of two more little followers.
Huang Yi looked up to see that it was already noon and, enticed by the occasional fragrant smells wafting from the kitchen, his stomach began to grumble along with them.
