Chapter 511: Chapter 511: The Origins of Madam Feng (5)

"Wherever my wife goes, I will follow; don’t even think about leaving me behind," Dugu Chen said, tugging at her hand with a hint of coquetry.

"Then you’d better get out of bed quickly," Feng Xuxu said as she slapped his hand away and tossed him the clothes she had prepared the night before from the clothes rack.

No sooner had Dugu Chen put on his clothes than the environment before him shifted in a flash. They went from the bedroom to another space, where they proceeded to practice their martial arts. After more than two hours, Feng Xuxu opened her eyes and looked outside through the spatial barrier. Seeing that half an hour had passed outside, she figured it was about time. She got up, tapped Dugu Chen, who was still cultivating beside her, to remind him that time was up, then walked over to the hot spring. She undressed and soaked quietly in the pool.

Dugu Chen gathered his focus, stood up, and saw that his wife was already soaking. He quickly shed his clothes and leaped into the pool, splashing water everywhere and spraying Feng Xuxu’s face. Feng Xuxu opened her eyes and glared at him fiercely. After soaking a little longer, the two of them got up, got dressed, and left the space. Just then, Lan Lengyun came in with a basin for face washing, and the two exchanged a smile, pleased with their impeccable timing.

At the dining hall, the sight of the lavish spread on the table stirred their appetites—there were dishes such as big jujube rice porridge, lily seed and coix seed porridge, pumpkin porridge, millet porridge, pan-fried buns, steamed dumplings, shrimp dumplings, crab roe buns, flower rolls, soup dumplings, along with a variety of appetizers like pickled long beans, pickled cabbage, crispy cucumber, and eight-treasure pickled vegetables—it all looked very appetizing.

With her appetite whetted, Feng Xuxu ate shrimp dumplings and said to Feng Xi, "Big brother, Sister Jiaojiao’s mourning period is over. Isn’t it about time you two get married?"

"Cough cough cough." Feng Xi, who was drinking porridge, was so caught off guard by his sister’s comment that he choked.

"Why are you getting so worked up about getting a wife? Sister Jiaojiao is bound to be yours eventually. She can’t escape," Feng Xuxu said as she grabbed a teacup from the table and hurriedly passed it to her brother.

After a moment, Feng Xi finally caught his breath and looked at his sister. "Sis, you always manage to surprise me. I was completely unprepared for that."

"What’s there to prepare for just talking? Seriously. I’ll go to Aunt Hui’s place later and pick a good day to bring Sister Jiaojiao home." Feng Xuxu didn’t want her brother to delay any longer. She was already eighteen, and her brother was almost twenty-three. People his age already had children running around, while her brother wasn’t even married. She was determined to see her brother wed before she left.

"Hehe, I want to bring Jiaojiao home too, but I didn’t want to do it while you were away. I don’t want any regrets on my wedding day, so I’ve been waiting until now," Feng Xi said with a slightly embarrassed chuckle, fiddling with the cup in his hands.

An array of emotions churned inside Feng Xuxu, as if a jar of mixed flavors tipped over. Dugu Chen’s hands reached over from under the table, firmly holding hers, offering silent support.

After the meal, Dugu Chen went to find the two kids who were still lazing in bed, while Feng Xuxu, followed by Mei Lenglei and Yingsu carrying gifts, walked from memory towards Aunt Hui’s house. However, once they arrived, Feng Xuxu realized she had made a huge mistake—the place had been demolished.

Feng Xuxu wandered hesitantly, but eventually spotted someone familiar at the edge of the fields, a person who was related to her by blood. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

"Uncle Feng Da."

Feng Da was weeding in the field when he heard someone call him. He turned around and his eyes lit up at the sight of a young woman who looked like a wealthy lady. He set aside his hoe and asked her with curiosity, "You, who are you?"

"Uncle, it’s me, Feng Xuxu," said Feng Xuxu with a light smile, holding a handkerchief.

Feng Da’s face was instantly filled with surprise. He stepped out of the field and looked Feng Xuxu up and down before nodding, "It really is you, Feng Xuxu. You’ve been gone for so many years, and now, even Uncle Feng Da barely recognizes you."
