"Why not kill him?" Feng Xuxu raised her eyes and looked at him.
Dugu Chen glanced off to a corner, sarcastically saying, "He won’t survive anyway, why bother dirtying our hands?"
The guard, hiding in the distance, saw the Divine Doctor’s head turn his way. His hand clutching the medicine shook unconsciously, fearing that the Divine Doctor was looking for trouble with him, and he turned and ran off.
The two gathered the gold into their space, and the hygiene-conscious Dugu Chen went into the space to soak in the hot spring. He meticulously washed his body three times over before finally getting out of the pool and putting on clean clothes, then smiling contentedly.

The family of four chuckled and frolicked in the carriage until they reached the city gates where the carriage came to a stop. Listening closely, it sounded like the officials were inspecting the people passing through. Dugu Chen and Feng Xuxu exchanged a smile and then sat in the carriage waiting for the soldiers to finish their inspection.
"Who are these people you’re carrying? Where do they come from, and where are they heading?" A soldier stopped the old coachman.
"S-sir, I’m just the coachman. We come from Yezhou Prefecture, heading to Wanzhou Prefecture. There’s a family of four in the carriage," the old man replied, his voice trembling.
The soldier saw the old man was shaking like a sieve and had no further suspicion. His gaze swept over the carriage and then he shouted towards it, "People inside the carriage, come out. Time for an inspection, make it quick."
Feng Xuxu held his hand and shook her head slightly. Dugu Chen responded with a smile, "Don’t worry, I have it under control."
Then, one by one, the family of four got out of the carriage, like dumplings being dropped in a soup, and submitted to the soldiers’ scrutiny.
The soldier looked them over, and seeing that they were all dressed in fine silk robes and the woman adorned with gold, he hesitated momentarily before asking Feng Xuxu, "What is your name?"
"R-r-respectful sir, I am a common woman from the Liu clan, my name is Wang Suihua," Feng Xuxu stuttered, her head hung low as she spoke softly. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

Dugu Chen watched the inspecting soldier, his hands spasming with the urge to strangle the man to death but stopped when he saw his wife lift her gaze at that moment, because he noticed the warning in her eyes.
The soldier saw her face for a second and had no words to describe it, then quickly turned his head aside, fearing that another look might make him throw up last night’s dinner.
The soldier then looked at Dugu Chen and it was his turn to stutter, "And you, what’s your name?"
"Honorable sir, my name is Liu Hui."
"Right, what brings you to Yezhou Prefecture?" The soldier looked him over; his appearance was acceptable but nothing special, thinking how such people could be wealthy. He wondered if the gods were blind, or if those folk were just lucky.
Dugu Chen looked up at him, then flicked a silver ingot from his sleeve, surreptitiously placing it in the soldier’s hand while he spoke, "We’ve come to visit relatives."
