Unlimited estates for rural beauty-Chapter 61 Moving to a New Home
Feng Xuxu saw her brother widening his eyes and chuckled.
Feng Xi, feeling embarrassed, touched his head, "Sister, you just go ahead and do your thing, I support you."
The weather was fine and the fragrance filled the hills; in the blink of an eye, it was already mid-June.
Feng Xuxu stood at the newly completed gate of her home, seeing a shiny plaque that read "Mandala Manor" hanging above the gate. She crossed the gate, which was wide enough for over a dozen people, and walked towards the courtyard.
There were a few side rooms near the gate where the gatekeepers lived. Treading on the cobblestone path further in, on both sides were Blue Enchantresses transplanted from the magical space, each in bud, with dewdrops glistening on the petals, appearing lush and tempting. After passing through the Moon Gate, a large garden appeared in view, filled with pavilions, rockeries, and lakes - everything one could ask for. Next to the garden, several cobblestone paths diverged. Heading down the left path, the walkway was flanked by Weeping Crabapples over a person tall, their light pink petals wafting a fragrance. The path to Lotus Garden forked and, above the fork’s Moon Gate hung the sign for Emerald Bamboo Pavilion. This was Feng Xi’s courtyard.
Upon reaching the Lotus Garden, she crossed a small bridge and admired the full pond of lotus flowers underneath, swaying gently with the breeze, a lovely sight indeed. After crossing several turns on the small bridge, a quaint two-story wooden house suddenly came into view.
"Sister, why don’t you go in and take a look," Feng Xi said, pulling Feng Xuxu to push open the wood door carved with floral designs.
"How do you like it?" Feng Xi asked with shining eyes fixed on Feng Xuxu.
Feng Xuxu looked at the modern sofas and coffee tables in the house. The ancient and modern decor was quite pleasing to the eye. "Brother, I really like it, thank you," she said.
"Silly girl, I just built it according to your design; it was all within my means," Feng Xi said, stretching out his hand to ruffle his sister’s glossy black hair.
"Hehe, I knew big brother would do a good job," Feng Xuxu said, tilting her head and batting her adorable eyes, "Now that the house is built, and we have such a big courtyard, we need to hire some people to take care of it. Also, I’m planning to set up a grain base."
"Go ahead with it, I might not be of much help with the busy work, but I can still handle work in the fields," Feng Xi assured, thumping his chest.
Feng Xuxu gratefully looked at her brother, all was understood without words.
That night, staying in the new room and looking at the new quilt and bed, Feng Xuxu lay there but suddenly couldn’t sleep. After tossing and turning, with a single thought, she found herself in the magical space.
"..." As soon as Feng Xuxu entered the space, she smelled a strong scent of alcohol and saw Xiaobai sound asleep, still hugging a jar of wine. Shaking her head in resignation, she realized why she hadn’t seen Xiaobai when she moved into the new house; the creature had gotten drunk. To be so intoxicated from a small jar, its capacity for liquor was indeed quite poor.
Feng Xuxu took the wine jar from Xiaobai’s embrace, gave it a shake, and found some was left. Then, she fetched a jade cup from the cupboard, poured herself a bit, and sipped it slowly. The mild scent of lychee mixed with a touch of sweetness and a hint of spiciness from the alcohol bloomed instantly, filling her mouth. Just a small sip brought comfort throughout her body, truly worthy of being a product of the magical space.
Feng Xuxu took out a small lychee from the wine jar and began to taste it carefully; she couldn’t help but squint her eyes, reveling in the enjoyment. After finishing the lychee, she shook her head, looking at the spinning scenery, and staggered with the remaining wine jar out of the space. Patting her head, she hadn’t thought that one lychee could make her so dizzy; no wonder Xiaobai was completely sloshed. She put down the wine jar in her hand and flopped onto the bed to meet Lord Zhou in her sleep.
Xiao Chen entered the room and saw Feng Xuxu half-covered by the quilt, her little face flushed. Looking at the jar under the bed, he nonchalantly picked it up and waved it before his nose, pouring himself a cup before casually sitting in the armchair and starting to taste it. After finishing a small cup, his body surged with boundless strength. Half-squinting his peach blossom eyes, he gazed at the unconscious Feng Xuxu lying on the bed, his hands idly twirling the jade cup, lost in thought.
In her sleep, Feng Xuxu always felt as if she were being watched by poisonous snake-like eyes. Confused, she opened her eyes and looked around, muttering a few words before she turned her head and slipped back into slumber.
After hearing this, Xiao Chen’s face turned black enough to drip ink. Striding over to Feng Xuxu’s bed in two steps, he sat down and poked her plump, rosy cheeks with his fingers while spitefully saying, "I’m detestable, I’m a ghost? Get up and explain yourself!" An exasperated Xiao Chen couldn’t help but poke without restraint.
The sleeping Feng Xuxu, annoyed at having her face poked, scrunched her willow-leaf eyebrows displeased and without opening her eyes, she swatted away the irksome hand and continued to meet Lord Zhou in her dream chess game.
The hand that Feng Xuxu had swatted away persisted with the harassment, this time not poking her face but pinching her nose instead, a look of "let’s see if you won’t wake up, then I’ll keep pinching" on his face.
Feng Xuxu, feeling suffocated, opened her eyes and blinked at the person before her, "You really are like a persistent haunt; even in a dream I see you." She puffed out her cheeks, displeased with the newcomer.
With a mischievous smirk curling his lips and a twinkle in his soul-stirring eyes, he looked at Feng Xuxu, "Does dreaming of me make you that displeased?"
"Yeah. You’re always tricking me, like some kind of vampire," Feng Xuxu pouted, feeling aggrieved.
Xiao Chen, watching the naïvely charming Feng Xuxu, felt an impulsive force and pressed his lips to her tender ones, tasting the sweet flavor, as if addicted, continuously kissing her, as though he’d found something delicious.
Feng Xuxu was disheveled by the wind, dazed for a moment before realizing her first kiss in two lifetimes had been stolen just like that. She raised her phoenix eyes to glare fiercely at the devilishly handsome face mere inches from her own. She delivered a Hook Fist, thinking that since she couldn’t beat him to the point where he cried for his father and begged for his mother in real life, she might as well get her satisfaction in the dream.
Xiao Chen caught Feng Xuxu’s soft and delicate hand; her dainty hand seemed pale and exquisitely white in his large one. Tenderly caressing the jade-like hand, he reluctantly let it go, then grabbed the wine jar and leaped out the window in a flash.
Feng Xuxu blinked and, finally rid of the annoyance, she closed her eyes and fell back asleep.
The departing Xiao Chen touched his lips and, turning back to glance at the sleeping figure of Feng Xuxu within the room, he smirked wickedly, "Feng Xuxu is mine." Using his qinggong, he rapidly floated away, leaving no trace in sight.
The next day, Feng Xuxu awoke with a yawn and zipped into the space for a warm water bath. Feeling refreshed, she changed into a tender yellow dress. Sitting at the vanity, she admired the little beauty reflected in the bronze mirror. Naturally arching black willow-leaf eyebrows, thick lashes framing her expressive phoenix eyes, fair skin smooth as mutton fat jade, and glossy, plump lips. Admiringly touching her face, after her transformation through the space, she hardly recognized herself after such a short time. Her fingers traced her lips, and she felt a sting of pain. She looked carefully in the bronze mirror and, seeing the reflection of her lips, realized they seemed a bit swollen. Puzzled, and with a forehead full of question marks, it seemed like she had dreamt of that devil the night before. Could it be...?
