Unlimited estates for rural beauty-Chapter 700 Grand Finale (4)
Fan Ji’ao had barely left when someone slipped into the warm tent immediately after.
"Who is it?" Still lost in thoughts of a bright future, Wa Keluo suddenly felt a chill, and after snapping back to reality, he noticed a figure clad in black, with a black veil covering their face, radiating an air of disgust.
"You’re really living it up, huh? Guzzling wine, gobbling meat, merry as can be," came a voice so faint it was almost inaudible, but the lighter the speaker’s tone, the more sweat trickled down Wa Keluo’s face.
"Not at all, not at all, the task given by the master is completed––––" 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Hm? Completed?"
Wa Keluo blinked, his neck stiff as he shook his head, then nodded, looking perplexed at the figure in black, when an impatient voice came again: "What is it then? Did you succeed or fail? Have you gone mute?"
Wa Keluo’s mouth quivered as he ingratiatingly said, "Master, Shi Kedan and Anuli said they would think it over thoroughly, but it was the rather straightforward Fan Ji’ao who agreed."
"Oh? The one who just left your place?" Turning around, he looked at Wa Keluo’s fawning manner with disdain.
"Yes, him. He could be considered a tyrant of the grasslands," Wa Keluo said, stealing a glance at his master. Apart from the black veil, he could discern nothing, and, disappointed, he lowered his head again.
"Well, it doesn’t matter about the others. As long as someone is willing to attack Sunset Kingdom, that’s more than enough," said the mysterious man, his hands clasped behind his back, silent for a moment before speaking.
"Yes, master."
The mysterious person made a round in the warm tent and then motioned to the person behind: "Come closer and listen."
Wa Keluo rolled his eyes, leaned his head in, and memorized the instructions given by his master. The further he listened, the brighter his smile grew.
"Have you got that?"
"Hehehe, got it," chuckled Wa Keluo, his face creased with joy, happily affirming his master’s words while imagining a prosperous future.
When Wa Keluo looked back to where his master had been standing, he found that the person had already left, leaving him alone, standing foolishly with a grin. Coming to his senses, he composed himself. Had it not been for the promise of a general’s position upon success, why would a king like himself call another his master? Hmph, he glanced at the warm tent and then walked out alone, heading towards the concubine’s tent under the moonlight.
Days passed quietly; the army of Sunset Kingdom showed occasional movements, all within normal bounds, with no signs of significant mobilizations, gradually easing the mind of someone lurking in the shadows.
On the twenty-fifth day of the month, Fan Ji’ao received a letter in person from Wa Keluo in his own camp. Delighted with the content once he read it, he finally saw the day he had been waiting for, carefully put the letter away, summoned his men to gather, and prepared to set out that evening.
His men glanced at their chief, said nothing, and left the tent to assemble the troops as instructed.
By evening, Fan Ji’ao led his over ten thousand men to join forces with Wa Keluo’s troops, a contingent of more than twenty thousand strong marching mightily toward the border of Sunset Kingdom, launching their attack.
For a while, the only sounds were the roaring horns, as Wa Keluo’s troops, at the forefront of the charge, shouted excitedly, brandishing their sword handles.
Wa Keluo watched his troops with satisfaction, sitting leisurely on his warhorse, casting an indifferent glance at the nearby Fan Ji’ao. Noticing their soldiers were not rushing forward, he grew quite displeased and scornfully berated him: "What are you standing there dazed for?"
