Unlimited estates for rural beauty-Chapter 81 Kneeling Down to Beg for the First Slot (9)
The three partners finally turned the injured man into a mummy, wrapping every part of his body except his head. "Miss, this man’s injuries are too severe, he’s lost a lot of blood. If he makes it through tonight, there shouldn’t be any worries about his life," Baihe said as she tied the last knot.
Feng Xuxu sighed, knowing there was nothing more to be done. She then took a Blood Ganoderma out of her space and handed it to Baihe to brew into a soup for the injured man to drink. Feng Xuxu felt a twinge of pain in her heart; she hadn’t gained any benefits from saving a life, but instead had spent a Blood Ganoderma. Taking a deep breath, she went outside.
At the crack of dawn, Feng Xi and Feng Xuxu were having breakfast when a house servant came to report that someone wished to see the Young Master of the house. Feng Xi and Feng Xuxu exchanged glances, put down their chopsticks, rinsed their mouths, and rose to go to the front hall to meet the visitor.
Upon arriving at the hall, Feng Xi saw a person dressed in dark cyan silk, embroidered with bamboo leaves, and wearing matching silk shoes. His skin was fair, and his features were refined, exuding the air of a scholar from afar. The visitor paced back and forth in the hall.
"May I ask? Who are you...?" Feng Xi approached and interrupted the pensive guest, gesturing for him to sit.
After taking a seat, Feng Xi looked at the young man sitting across from him, who clasped his hands and said, "My name is Xu Ke, I apologize for visiting unannounced and causing any inconvenience." Xu Ke was also secretly sizing up the man in front of him. Could this really be the person who grew the watermelons? He harbored doubts in his mind.
"No trouble at all. May I know why Young Master Xu has come?" Feng Xi asked, puzzled.
"Young Master Feng, my family has been dealing in fruit trade for generations and has achieved modest success. Yesterday, our house servant bought a few watermelons from your Young Master, and we found them to be exceptionally delightful. So, today, I came to see if we could work together. We would like to purchase your watermelons, and the price can be discussed," Xu Ke said earnestly, showing his intention to collaborate with Feng Xi.
Upon hearing this, Feng Xi found it an excellent proposition, as it would save time and effort. Given that Xu Ke had mentioned having modest success, this could mean selling the watermelons further afield.
"Regarding the procurement, that’s feasible. It’s just the matter of the price..." Feng Xi pondered what would be a fair price as he spoke.
Seeing an opportunity, Xu Ke quickly responded with enthusiasm, "As far as I know, you sell them for 300 wen each in town. How about I purchase them at that price?"
Feng Xi grew even more curious upon hearing this. "It’s like this. We have fruit shops in other towns and at the Prefecture Government, and our reputation is good. We distribute the watermelons we purchase to various places," Xu Ke explained, noticing Feng Xi’s skepticism.
Feng Xi smiled and agreed to sell the watermelons to Xu Ke for 300 wen per jin. He called for the butler, and they reached an agreement, drafting a contract which both parties signed. After setting a later time, Xu Ke left to bring people to fetch the watermelons.
Feng Xuxu was very pleased for her brother upon learning of this arrangement, seeing it as further proof of his continual progress.
"Miss, the man has woken up," Baihe whispered to Feng Xuxu as she leant in close.
Feng Xuxu furrowed her brow, stood up, and went to the wing room, looking at the man on the bed who was struggling to rise. With a cold face, she said, "If you wish to die, I don’t mind giving you another stab to make it quick."
Xuanyuan Jueqing, upon seeing Feng Xuxu, was startled at first, and after hearing her words, glared at her with a black expression, "What do you mean by that, where is this place?" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"It means exactly what it sounds like; this is my home," Feng Xuxu replied with a snort, walking over and looking down at Xuanyuan Jueqing, saying something infuriating, "Before you die, you’d better pay me back for the Silver of the Blood Ganoderma."
"..." A series of black lines ran across Xuanyuan Jueqing’s forehead, "When did I ever say I wanted to die?"
"Well, if you don’t want to die, then you’d better lie down obediently and do what you’re told," Feng Xuxu shouted irritably at the man on the bed.
