Feng Xuxu pouted and then laughed, "Uncle Ma, are you missing me, or are you missing me?"

Uncle Ma was delighted by her words, "You heartless girl, missing you without ever coming to see me."

"Uncle Ma, what’s wrong with you? The moment I arrive, all I hear is you sighing," Feng Xuxu put down her teacup and held Uncle Ma’s hand with concern.

"How about I ask Xiao Chen to bring your wife and kids over for a family reunion?"

"You silly girl, I’ve never had a family of my own in my life, where would I get a wife and kids from?"

"I’m sorry, Uncle Ma, I didn’t know," Feng Xuxu apologized, regretting her careless words.

"Silly lass, what are you sorry for? I still have you, I’ve always considered you my own child," Uncle Ma said endearingly, stroking Feng Xuxu’s hair.

"That’s right, Uncle Ma, you have me, and you have my brother. I’ll take care of you in your old age."

"Humph, if you don’t take care of me, I’ll go to your house and tear down the door," Uncle Ma feigned anger, which made Feng Xuxu burst into laughter.

"Uncle Ma, I should head back now. If you can, come home and stay for a few days," Feng Xuxu earnestly asked Uncle Ma to come home before leaving.

When Uncle Ma heard the word ’home’, he was so moved he nearly cried. "You child, if I leave, what will happen to the tavern? Alright, you better hurry back."

"Okay, I’ll come visit you again soon and bring you some of the new wine I’ve brewed," Feng Xuxu waved her little hand and turned to leave, not daring to look back at Uncle Ma.

Tears rolled down Uncle Ma’s cheeks as he watched Feng Xuxu leave the courtyard, then he wiped away the tears that had just fallen. Getting old, it’s hard to let go of the child you’ve watched grow up and leave, sigh. The thought of Xiao Chen soon returning to the Capital City pained his heart.

Leaving the courtyard, Feng Xuxu no longer felt like strolling and quickly got back into the carriage to return to the manor.

Time passed unknowingly, and the night breeze brought a chill, signaling that half of autumn had already slipped by.

After dinner, Feng Xuxu slipped into the space, where Xiaobai was lazily sprawled, sleeping on the ground, and Xiaojin was curled up on Xiaobai’s head. Upon Feng Xuxu entering the space, it stood up, slid down Xiaobai’s fur, and stopped at Feng Xuxu’s feet, flicking its tongue.

Feng Xuxu squatted down and watched as Xiaojin drew closer, surprisingly unafraid.

Xiaojin, seeing its little master squatting down, excitedly wagged its tail and shook its head, opened its small mouth, leaving Feng Xuxu completely dumbfounded. Taking advantage of her distraction, Xiaojin nipped at Feng Xuxu’s hand.

Feng Xuxu felt a pinprick of pain which vanished instantly, only to sense a childlike voice echoing in her head, "Xiaojin acknowledges Feng Xuxu as its master today, from now on, to never leave nor forsake, never betray, taking the oath; if I fail, may I turn to dust and smoke."

Overjoyed by these words, Feng Xuxu stared at Xiaojin, and as she moved to embrace it, something unexpected happened. It was as if an earthquake struck the space; the house on the ground shook back and forth. Xiaobai was jolted awake and sprang to its feet at once, and upon seeing Xiaojin with Feng Xuxu, instantly understood—the space was about to upgrade.
