"Hit you? So what if I did? Kid, you've gone too far. You deserve a beating," Lin Kuang said calmly, as if discussing something mundane.

"Deserve a beating? Damn it! Who in Nanjing dares to hit me? You're fucking asking for death!" Meng Zhao said furiously.

"Asking for death? I'd be happy to oblige." With that, Lin Kuang struck again. Another backhanded slap sent Meng Zhao sprawling to the ground.

Meng Zhao's head was beaten until it was swollen like a pig's. Bloody foam frothed at his lips, and he was in too much pain to speak. He glared at Lin Kuang with pure venom, yet his eyes also held a trace of fear.

By now, the diners from upstairs had come out to watch. Some of them inevitably recognized Meng Zhao, who was a well-known figure in Nanjing. Seeing him get beaten, some of the spectators couldn't help but feel a rush of satisfaction. Many of them had been bullied by him but had never dared to speak out.

However, when they looked at Lin Kuang, their eyes were filled with pity. After all, Meng Zhao was the son of a real estate tycoon in Nanjing, wealthy and influential. Those who hit him never ended well.

At that moment, Liang Kai, Zhang Tianyou, and the others also came out from their private room. Seeing the scene, their expressions changed instantly.

"Instructor, what… what happened?" Zhang Tianyou rushed over, his tone urgent and puzzled.

"Nothing much. Just teaching a lesson to someone who doesn't know his place," Lin Kuang said with a laugh, clearly not taking Meng Zhao seriously. He truly didn't care about this guy, especially since the kid had already provoked Yang Wucheng and Zhang Guodong. He was practically begging to die.

Hearing this, Zhang Tianyou, Sun Lei, and the others turned to glare at Meng Zhao, their expressions menacing.

"Instructor, should we deal with him?" Hu Yang asked respectfully, glancing at Lin Kuang. To them, Lin Kuang was a man they held in the highest regard, so seeing him disrespected made them furious.

"No need. Everyone, go back to your meal and don't let this ruin your mood," Lin Kuang said with a smile.

By then, Yang Wucheng and Zhang Guodong had also walked out from the private room, both looking grimly at Meng Zhao.

"Uncle Zhang, Uncle Yang, how should we deal with this kid?" Seeing them arrive, Lin Kuang couldn't help but ask with a smile.

"Of course, we need to teach him a proper lesson. I haven't seen anyone this arrogant in Nanjing before," Zhang Guodong said harshly, looking at Meng Zhao as if he were already a dead man.

At this point, Meng Zhao seemed to realize something was wrong, but his muddled brain couldn't pinpoint the problem.

"What… what are you going to do?" Meng Zhao asked fearfully, looking at Lin Kuang's group. He was all alone against so many of them; how could he not be scared?

"Nothing much. Just think it's time to put you in your place. You seemed to enjoy cursing me just now, didn't you?" Zhang Guodong said with a cold smile, his eyes filled with anger.

Hearing Zhang Guodong's words, Liang Kai, Zhang Tianyou, and the others were stunned. This kid actually cursed the commander of the Nanjing Military Region? He must have a death wish!

"Curse… curse you? So what? I did!" Meng Zhao slurred, his face so swollen it was a wonder he could speak at all.

"Good. Very good. It's been many years since anyone dared to curse me. I hope you can still talk later," Zhang Guodong said, laughing in anger.

Just then, a group of police officers rushed up, surrounding Lin Kuang and his group. They had arrived so quickly and unexpectedly because someone downstairs heard the commotion, realized Meng Zhao was being beaten, and decisively called the police.

"Nobody move! What's going on here?" a captain asked as he walked over, frowning at the scene.

There's a saying that the military and the police are one family, but that wasn't really true. They belonged to different systems with different concerns. You couldn't say one was more powerful than the other; they simply had different roles, making comparisons meaningless. Now, these soldiers had beaten Meng Zhao, which put the captain in a bind. After all, Meng Zhao often brought gifts to the station, making sure to grease the palms of everyone from top to bottom. This put the young captain in a difficult position.

"Captain Lv! Captain Lv, you're finally here! These guys beat the hell out of me! Look what they did!" As if seeing a long-lost relative, Meng Zhao grabbed Lv Liang's hand, launching into a tearful, heart-wrenching story of his suffering.

"Take it easy. Tell me what happened," Lv Liang asked quickly. A conflict involving soldiers was not easy to handle; a single misstep could lead to serious trouble.

"What else could it be? I had this room booked, but these guys showed up early. I argued with them a bit, and they started getting physical! They beat up my bodyguard, and then they started on me!" Meng Zhao recounted his story with tears streaming down his face, sounding so convincing that even Lin Kuang almost believed him.

Zhang Guodong, Yang Wucheng, and the others watched Meng Zhao's performance with faint, mocking smiles, remaining silent.

What a load of crap, Lv Liang inwardly sneered, knowing Meng Zhao wasn't telling the truth. Still, the kid was clever. Playing the victim would generate some sympathy and make the case easier for him to handle.

As he thought this, Lv Liang glanced at Lin Kuang's group. Their calm demeanor gave him a sinking feeling; this was not going to be simple. But he had no choice but to bite the bullet. "Gentlemen, I'm going to have to ask you to come with me to the station to give a statement. If it's all a misunderstanding, we'll let you go."

Lv Liang kept his tone as even as possible, not daring to pull rank. These men had an extraordinary air about them, and he had no desire to provoke someone he shouldn't. It was a smart move; by not using force or acting arrogantly, he managed to avoid angering Zhang Guodong.

"Kid, you can't handle this. Get your Chief Shi over here," Zhang Guodong said dismissively, looking at Lv Liang. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Lv Liang froze. He felt an unmistakable pressure from Zhang Guodong, the unique aura of a high-ranking superior, which made him even more cautious. But before Lv Liang could say a word, the reckless Meng Zhao ran over.

"To hell with Chief Shi! Do you have any idea what my relationship with him is? Captain Lv, stop wasting your breath on them and haul them away!" Meng Zhao snarled, his face a mask of malice.
