Yujun’s POV

I just can’t seem to catch a break. Each new day comes with a new trouble ever since I met Jaehyun.

I feel my phone vibrate in my lap and I sneakily check the caller ID even though I already know who is calling.

I read the name in my mind and I squeeze my eyes shut in annoyance. This guy doesn’t know when to stop bothering people.

My phone had been buzzing endlessly with the alpha’s call since I left his place, leaving him with the man who has added a new bruise to the ones that haven’t healed yet.

Pretending to pay full attention to the meeting, I turn my phone face down before anyone else would see the calls coming from Jaehyun, then I quickly lift my head to look at the faces of our members, acting the part of the ’alpha son’.

My clan has an ongoing meeting about my sister’s marriage and the potential overthrowing of this Hwang clan. My father is sitting on his special seat and I am next to him as his heir.

I keep my expression stoic and my back straight, father has been speaking for over an hour about his plans to conquer the entire city but my mind refuses to follow the conversations.

My eyes dart to my phone, expecting his call again since twenty minutes has passed since the last one. Despite my not picking his call, thoughts of Jaehyun cloud my mind.

From our tender kiss, to lying next to him and waking up covered in his scent...

"And when the Hwangs are at their weakest from it, we will strike" father says and my attention returns to the room. I watch as the rest of the men in the room nod in agreement, and I follow suit even if I have been so lost in the thoughts of Jaehyun that I missed everything my father has been saying.

"The Kangs are careless brutes, I expect them to do something major in retaliation soon" father says and points his cane to the bulletin board he had made for all of his enemies from years of monitoring and studying them.

"The retaliation will be our perfect striking chance" he adds and turns to look at one of the youngest and newly added member of the high rankers in his inner circle. "Good job Dongmin" father says and the boy shoots to his feet and bows.

"Dongmin knew that maniac son of Hwang was going to act without thinking and he used it well" father says and gestures to the boy, "tell them about it Dongmin-ah" father says, using a tone he has never used on me before.

"Yes sir, I knew he was going to go after the killer, so I loaded my gun with poison and attacked" the young boy says in a highly prideful manner, I frown at the boy as it sinks in that the attack I had saved Jaehyun from was from my own clan.

"This child is a beta and is this useful" father says with his eyes fixed on me. I know the words are packed with double meaning and a mockery directed at the curse of me being an omega.

Ignoring my father, I turn to the boy, "what poison did you use?" I ask and the boy smiles at me, his eyes filled with pure wickedness, the kind of deep darkness that my father and his inner circle carries within them.

"Silver wolfsbane" Dongmin says.

"It could kill him" I say without thinking, "that’s the point young master, isn’t it?" the haughty boy says, slowly tilting his head to the side with a smile that makes my skin crawl, I open my mouth to speak again but keep shut in my seat as father gives me a chilling glare.

The meeting continues but I sink into deep worry. A million thoughts are running through my mind like a tornado.

Where could a young boy like Dongmin have gotten such a rare and dangerous poison from? Who within our pack is selling it? How many people have it been used on.

I look up at the grandfather wall clock and my chest tightens. It has been over sixteen hours since the poisoning and Silver wolfsbane is known to delay its effect on it’s victim until the person has forgotten it, and then it strikes.

Jaehyun had seemed better in the morning but now that I know the type of poison that was used, I am sure that the effect might have started to take root in his system.

"I’m sorry I have to attend to something" I say abruptly, unable to sit back with how disturbed for Jaehyun my omega had become. Without a bow I get up from my father’s right side and rush for the meeting room’s door.

"Choi Yujun!" my father’s angry voice calls me back loudly but the pained howls of my omega for Jaehyun’s safety is louder and stronger.

I run as fast as I can before taking out my phone to call Jaehyun and make sure he’s okay. "Please" I pray under my breath, pleading with the moon goddess that he is at least safe wherever he is.

I press the phone to my ear, holding it up by my shoulder as I make a speedy walk for the mansion gate, "Please pick..." I say and the dial tone ends, "Yah Jaehyun, you’re in big trouble..." I say but stop speaking when I hear the chaos in the background.

"Boss they attacked the hospital" a voice from the other end of the line shouts and I stop in my tracks.

"No!, dispatch men right now! Yeon is at the hospital" another man says and I hear Jaehyun’s voice underneath, low and weak, "mom?" he calls and my heart clenches, Yeon is Jaehyun’s male omega mother.

I hail a taxi and get in, I’m not sure where exactly to go but I know the Hwangs own a small hospital not too far from Hongdae. I keep my head down until the taxi stops at the hospital, hoping that I don’t arrive too late.

Outside the hospital, there are black cars parked and blocking anyone else from getting in with armed men glaring at passerby. With a huff, I sneak past them and make my way in through the backdoors into the hospital.

The Kang clan have always been notorious for being careless and having many weak spots on missions.

Getting into the hospital, I walk quietly until I arrive at an area where two armed men are talking angrily. I stick to the wall to map out their locations and plan my actions.

"I will shoot you down" one of the men says and I see Yeon is standing right there at the door with his right hand holding his left arm and his teeth bared, "shoot" he hisses.

The man that was elegant when we first met now seems gloriously fierce with his scrubs ruffled from fighting against and holding back the Kang men. All over his body and obvious signs of being roughed up already, yet the omega has his head held up and his stance ready for battle.

"Give us the fucking omegas" the one that has spoken at my arrival says again and the other cocks his gun. "We don’t have time for some useless beta that doesn’t know his place in society, step the fuck away and let us have the omega" the man spits.

Yeon, instead of backing down, holds up his fist, "Over my dead body, he says with a stronger voice even as his body is swaying slightly. The male omega looks powerful despite being exhausted from working all night, mourning the pack child and now fighting a pack enemy.

"Grab him, we’ll have a lot of fun with him" the third man orders and I run out to knock him down, "disgusting motherfuckers" I hiss through my teeth as I fight him down.

With one of the men under me being punched, Yeon takes on the second man with an agility that is unexpected. "Choi Yujun?!" The man shouts and I give him a punch that knocks him out.

The second man grabs Yeon by the neck and squeeze him tightly, In anger I charge at them, I pull the man off Yeon and twist his neck, disgusted by his mark on Yeon’s delicate skin.

At the dropping of his body to the floor, I run over to Yeon to check on him. "Are you okay?" I ask and he nods, "yes, yes...are you okay?" Yeon asks me and holds my face to look at me closely.

Before I can answer, a gunshot rings in the hallway, startling both of us.

"GET THE FUCK OFF MY HUSBAND CHOI BASTARD!" An Alpha’s roar fills the hallway and I look back to see Lord Hwang holding a hunting rifle right at my head.
