Chapter 23: A Photo, A Bra, and a Power Play

A Photo, A Bra, and a Power Play

"Oh? So, what did you see in me back then?" Bianca De Dominicis asked, a teasing tilt in her crimson eyes, her tone playful yet genuinely curious.

"You were... easy to fool," Julian D’Aurelius replied smoothly, slipping into mockery mode with a sly, provocative grin. Pride and mischief danced in his golden gaze.

You were good-looking, duh. Pretty, classy, and that figure... D-cup breasts, narrow waist, thick thighs, broad hips... who the hell wouldn’t chase you? he thought, letting his admiration seep into the edges of his arrogance.

"Hmph, you scumbag."

Bianca’s voice feigned irritation, but inside, her heart skipped with delight. Words can lie, but thoughts... thoughts never do! she mused, fighting back an uncontainable smile.

That single "scumbag" made Julian’s chest tighten with a strange joy. This woman... she can’t stand me anymore. Perfect. Time to make her even more furious, maybe she’ll kick me out.

He scanned the room with a calculating gleam, eyes finally settling on a black lace bra and matching panties lying seductively on a chair. Time to play the pervert... let’s see how she reacts.

A slow, lecherous smile spread across Julian’s face as he strode toward the intimate set, lifting the delicate garments between his fingers. He turned to Bianca, voice dripping with mock concern and sleaze.

"Your taste isn’t great. Want me to pick out some sexy lingerie for you? Maybe a few pieces to match your... assets?"

Click.

The sharp click of a camera shutter cut through the air.

Bianca, holding her phone, sighed, feigning exasperation. "Oh dear, I accidentally took a photo. Just happened to capture your little crime. First you kiss me, now this... holding my bra and panties. How am I supposed to maintain my reputation as a lady?"

Julian froze, dumbfounded.

What the hell... why isn’t she reacting like she’s supposed to? She’s taking photos? Shouldn’t she be yelling, calling me a pervert, kicking me out?

How did she get this crafty in just a few years? This isn’t her character!

Bianca’s crimson eyes sparkled as she pursed her lips, letting out a soft, teasing sigh. "Sigh... what should I do? My ex-boyfriend is harassing me... if this gets out, how will I face anyone?"

Julian’s mind raced, frozen in disbelief. This... this was not the Bianca De Dominicis from the original plot!

"I was just kidding, don’t do this," he muttered, finally setting the bra down, carefully folding it with the other clothes.

Fine. I give up. I won’t do anything... okay? I’ll just lay low.

I was planning to avoid Evan... but now it seems I have to avoid these female leads too.

Bianca whistled softly, triumphant. With this leverage, he’s going to have to obey me from now on. Heh heh... don’t even think about running away.

Changing gears, she turned her attention to more serious matters. "By the way... let’s talk business."

Seeing Julian nearly finished tidying up, she smiled, graceful and confident. "I’m planning to invest in a new thermal power project. What do you think?"

Julian’s golden eyes lit up. Finally, she was talking sense. Though Evan is an idiot, I can still play matchmaker here. Let the villain repay evil with good.

The sooner they fall in love, the sooner I can retire and enjoy life.

"New thermal power? Excellent business move. The next ten years in the corporate world will be dominated by this sector. Government support is strong... this is an opportunity not to miss," he said, giving a thumbs-up, brimming with praise.

Go ahead and invest. Trust yourself... this project will make serious money.

As long as the partners are reliable... Haha, isn’t your partner Shin Cooperation? That company’s a total scam.

When the project fails, it’ll be Evan’s moment to shine. The plot... it’s still on track. Today, Bianca and Evan’s conflict sets the stage for her emotional growth.

When Evan saves her later, guilt will wash over her... and love will bloom. Well played, crafty author... I see your plan.

Now there was a soft smile on the Bianca’s lips, one that showed how much she liked what Julian had just said - sharp thinking on his part - and also how easily he played along without meaning to. Light from nearby danced through strands of her red hair, turning it warm like embers, while around them things sat rearranged: books tilted sideways, fabric half-draped over chairs, proof of earlier disorder softened by his awkward help. Still, something stayed unsettled in the air - not quite anger, not yet touch - but close enough to make silence feel loud.

Sharp gold eyes watched, though his mind tangled inside. Survival meant outlasting her moves, he told himself quiet. Each move ahead? Laced with hidden breaks. This one woman... already shifting the ground.

Then again, a quiet thrill ran beneath every glance, a slow grin hiding what came next. One paused just long enough to stir trouble, while the other answered with silence that spoke too much. Back and forth it slipped - half jokes, half challenges - the air thick but never breaking. Every step forward was weighed, calculated, laced with something neither named. Still, they circled, drawn by what wasn’t said, pulled along by what might happen if someone finally blinked.
