Chapter 78: Aura Farming

Lilith leapt forwards, lunging into the clearing and immediately slamming her feet down and throwing her head back.

A primal, bloodthirsty roar boomed from her throat, directly challenging the screech of the twisted deer, which the group had decided to refer to as Rot-Horn.

An evil, black aura curled from her crimson skin like smoke bringing with it her rage, bloodlust and forcing her presence upon them.

As the malevolent aura spread across the clearing, it infected the minds of all the deer present, causing them to turn their heads towards the towering Hellion in sync.

"Come on then! Come and get some! Fresh cut of lean beef right here!"

She shouted, flexing her muscles and when they bulged, her aura actually flexed and increased ever so slightly along with them.

As the herd started to charge, Belladonna sprang out and darted to meet them. She weaved through the gangly, uncoordinated legs of Rot-horn and lashed out a kick towards one of the lesser deer, snapping it from its rage and forcing its attention towards her.

She let out a barrage of wild attacks, throwing stones, metal bullets, rapid punches and kicks towards the lesser deer causing all of them, except for Rot-horn, to break from the taunt as she OT’ed.

However she wasn’t making the stupid mistake she did in the dungeon. This time it was on purpose. With only one tank they had to split attention, and she was more than able to take it without dying like an idiot.

That left just the boss to Lilith’s taunt skill, as the Hellion stared down the horrific abomination as it charged straight towards her. She narrowed her eyes, muttering a skill name under her breath.

"Tools of Destruction."

The black aura that surrounded Lilith fluctuated slightly, dancing in a non-existent wind as it was stirred up by her words, before it started to move across her body. The aura thickened around her arms, then extended off of them.

They spread from her hands, wriggling in the air like tendrils, before the smoke drew itself together and began to solidify.

With an eery calm and a steel eyed gaze, Lilith sunk herself into a wide stance and held her hand in front of her as smoky aura poured off of it. What looked like a smokescreen designed to cover her rapidly formed into a thick, tower shield made of a wicked black metal.

Rot-horns antlers immediately slammed into the newly formed shield, his wretched and bony hands clawing at the edges of it as Lilith was forced back a step. But that was it. Just a single step.

Her thigh muscles bulged and her aura flared up even more as more thick black smoke poured from her body. The more of the aura that hung in the air, the more her shield grew. Horrific decals began to manifest, giving it gothic edges and skull motif’s.

With a grunt of effort, she shoved back on Rot-horn’s antlers, forcing him to stumble backwards a few steps. She quickly closed the gap, taking advantage of the opening as she swung her free hand. The smoky black tendril whipping along her hand rapidly pulled itself together until a serrated blade of black steel glinted wickedly. A long handled, one handed axe formed in her grip just in time for its teeth to sink into the twisted flesh of Rot-horn.

The corrupted creature let out another nail dragging screech, lashing out with its disgusting hands as Lilith batted them away with her shield and axe, before sinking into a defensive pose once more.

These were the tools of the [Blood-soaked Battler] class. A DPS/Tank Hybrid class that was exclusive to the Hellion race. A class that fuelled itself not on Mana, but on Aura. An Aura built through displays of raw power, dedication to themselves, bloodlust, and more importantly, Death.

They were called Blood-soaked for a reason. There was no where that they could be other than the front lines.

Belladonna flipped backwards, dodging a charge from a six legged Deer, then had to bob and weave to avoid the flailing dual sets of antlers from a two headed Abomination.

Finding an opening, she thrust her foot out, giving it a powerful yet simple side kick right where the necks connected between the two heads. A miniature shock wave echoed out and like a cannon ball, the two headed deer launched across the clearing. It bounced across the grass like a skimming stone until it slammed against a tree with enough force to snap its ribs and shatter its legs.

Yet the ribs jutting out of its torso only grew, morphing and cracking until they formed spider-like legs that started to pick itself up from the ground.

’God... These things are disgusting! The Boar wasn’t nearly as bad... The Corruption must be much stronger here.’

She thought to herself, resisting the urge to puke as she glanced around her. One deer was coming from her left whilst another was charging from behind. With her leg still in the air, holding the pose of the kick, the rune on Belladonna’s sole glowed bright red before a plume of flames spewed from her foot.

Her body rocketed backwards, gliding across the ground as she forced herself to hover, leaving the deer to her left in her dust and shooting straight towards the one charging from behind.

A tilt of her foot altered her trajectory, just before she hit, then a bend of her leg made her body spin rapidly. As soon as she came close to the charging deer’s head, her flame plumes cut off and she lashed out with a rocket powered spinning kick right to the face.

Its jaw broke and tore on one side, leaving it with half of its lower mouth hanging off, as it collapsed to the ground and bounced a few times from its own momentum.

Belladonna leapt forwards, slamming her foot down onto its head and activating her rune once again. The deer’s vision filled with crimson as she drowned its head with flames, all whilst turning towards the one still approaching her.

The dagger stuck to her wrist was primed and ready to strike at the second deer’s throat as she struck from below with the attack. However, as she thrust her hand towards its throat, she was not expecting its entire neck to open up into a needle-toothed maw that gladly accepted her hand into it before clamping down on her arm.
