VRMMO: World's First Glyphborne-Chapter 79: Vile Venison
The ’Deer’s teeth, if you could even call such a twisted abomination a deer anymore, plunged through her armour. The thick leather of the Ardent Bear stopped them from piercing too deep, as she could only feel the tip of a few barely grazing her skin. The most that was being stabbed and shredded was her bare fist, as her armour stopped at her wrists. But that wasn’t the bad part.
Wrenching her hand back, Belladonna dragged the ’Deer’ along with it, as it kept its throaty jaws clamped tight around her arm, pinning her in place as one of its herd members lined itself up and charged forwards again, it’s silver horns lowered and ready to skewer her.
She sent a hail of punches, palm strikes and elbows into the ’Deer’s face, trying to get it to release her. She even jammed her thumb into its eye, hoping the pain would push it over the edge, yet her thumb plunged into it easily like it was thick jelly and not a functioning eyeball, and not even a grunt of pain came from the ’Deer’.
Honestly, she wasn’t surprised. It’s throat had turned into a mouth and they were turning into spider-legged horrors. Anatomy wasn’t exactly a concern for them at this point. But she had killed multiple already, so it was possible.
She just needed to stab more and punch less, as broken bones just gave them more material to warp and mutate. Whilst her knife was stick in its throat, and the tip of said knife was pressed against her palm as her hand crumpled awkwardly in the confined space, Belladonna was nothing but a professional at improvising.
"You wanna dance? Fine, let’s dance! I’ve always been a fan of the Waltz!" She shouted with a manic laugh, yanking her arm again to drag the abomination forwards another step as she rose to her feet properly, before she began to spin.
Her foot left the pile of burnt flesh, padding across the grass as she dragged the ’Deer’ along with her in the spin and used the abominations antlers in a wild, spinning punch towards the charging deer.
Silver antlers clashed against each other as the charging deer was thrown to the side and Belladonna stumbled from her unbalanced spin. But she ignored the teeth stabbing into her hand and lunged forwards.
One hand clamped around the other deer’s antlers, pinning it to the ground, whilst the other punched repeatedly, stabbing it in the chest over and over with its friends Antlers as she used the parasite clinging to her as a weapon. That was until the antlers got stuck too.
’Shit!’ She cursed in her mind, putting her foot on the now dead deer’s antlers as she tried to pry herself free as the rib-spider started to approach her on shaky, still growing legs. But it wouldn’t budge.
They had tangled themselves in wretched flesh and dirt, and rooted her to the ground.
Glancing at the rapidly approaching Spider-deer, Belladonna thought over her options for a moment before cursing in her mind again.
’Ah fuck it! I can get new ones.’
With a jolt of mana through her bloodline, the dagger still glued to her wrist shot forwards. It burst through the back of the ’Deer’s throat, and severed two of her fingers in the process. Gritting her teeth, Belladonna focused on her bloodline ability and ignored the approaching abomination for the moment.
The dagger wiggled itself, making a tiny bit of room to move, before it started to spin. It started slow, having to carve through some tough, mangled flesh and needle teeth, along with Belladonna’s remaining fingers, but it quickly picked up speed.
The knife turned into a whirring saw blade at her command, slicing apart half of the Deer’s neck, and tearing apart the other half when she pulled her arm back one last time. With this final tug, a spray of rancid black blood hit her in the face, as her arm finally pried itself free.
She immediately whipped her hand to the side, cutting off her bloodline ability and letting the spinning sawblade fly. It caught the spider-deer right between the heads, in the same place as she had kicked, and rapidly burrow itself into its flesh.
The eldritch horrors Spider-rib legs staggered as it let out a pained whine, before falling to the ground. It’s body splitting down the spine to expose its guts, like a fleshy and disgusting baked potato.
Belladonna raised her now free hand, stringing magnetic force between fingers that had been reduced to bloody nubs, and quickly fired off some Stonemuncher bullets at the last remaining Deer, before it could get any ideas of attacking her.
Once she was sure everything was dead, she allowed herself a few seconds of relief as she panted heavily. Her eyes trailed to her ruined and mangled hand, which was suddenly bathed in a pale white light.
The bloody nubs quickly healed, as the blood was pulled back into them, before bone sprouted from the stubs like trees and flesh rapidly started to knit itself around the newly grown bone.
Belladonna’s head whipped towards Saige, who was lowering their own glowing hand, and gave her brother a thankful nod for the healing. But she was not the only one that looked towards him in that moment.
Rot-horn, sensing the vile divine magic of the Beast God, immediately turned towards Saige and let out a hate filled screech. It batted Lilith away, who tried to regain the aggro with another cast of her taunt skill, but nothing could overwhelm the hate it felt for the Beast Cleric.
Lilith was thrown by its backhanded smack, as Rot-horn immediately charged forwards, its wretched hands clawing desperately at the ground as if it give it more speed as it charged towards Saige.
Belladonna dissolved into shadows, but the primal hate of the Beast god from their own twisted follower drove Rot-horn across the distance faster than her transportation skill. However, Just before it could reach Saige and tear the adorable little fox to shreds, a bleach white hand of bone and rotten flesh erupted from the ground and grabbed hold of Rot-horns back leg.
