Chapter 227: Chapter 226: Sweetness (13)

Bella raised her hand to swat away his finger and pouted, "Of course! You’re so great, and so many people like you. It would be strange if I didn’t worry, right?"

Seeing her cute, jealous expression, Damian’s eyes flashed with amusement.

Bella glared at him, her face puffing up like a round little bun, "Don’t laugh at my pettiness!"

Damian poked her cheek and said, "The phone is right in your hand. If you want to look, no one’s stopping you."

"Huh? Really... Can I really look?" Bella, given permission to look, felt a bit embarrassed.

"Don’t you want to see?" Damian raised his eyebrow. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

Bella chuckled, her cheeks turning a bit red, "Then I’ll really take a look."

Without objecting, Damian watched Bella unlock the phone with nervous anticipation and opened the unread messages, finding they were all greeting messages. Who knows how long they’ve been piling up, with many showing multiple unread messages from the same number.

Bella scrolled through, discovering they’re almost all these unread messages. Only two numbers had been read: one labeled as her old number, Acker the Puppy, and another labeled as Little Sister, which should be Bella’s number.

Bella clicked in to see that only messages from Bella were sent without any replies from Damian.

"Damian, you don’t reply to messages?" Bella looked up at him.

Damian, hearing this, shifted his gaze from the book to her, "Texting is a hassle."

Typing each character is both troublesome and time-consuming, better to just call directly.

Bella clicked into the messages she previously sent, noticing he had replied to each one, even if it was just "Mm," "Okay," or "Got it," a reply is still a reply.

Bella proudly lifted the phone to show him, "See, you replied to my messages."

Feeling like she’d received some special privilege, she showed off the phone, her eyes curved into crescent shapes with delight.

Damian returned his gaze to the book and said indifferently, "That’s because if I don’t reply, you’ll just send lots of messages."

Really? Bella rolled her eyes thinking about it, maybe it was true.

There seemed to be a time when Damian didn’t reply to her messages, and she sent more than ten in a row. But that was definitely just a prank, right?

Feeling a bit guilty, Bella chuckled twice, then turned to nestle into his arms, pouting stubbornly, "I don’t care! You replied to my messages, so you did! No take backs!"

Since she felt happy, why would he disagree?

Damian slightly turned to place the book on the bedside table and took the phone from her hand, saying, "Time to sleep. If you don’t sleep, you won’t wake up in the morning."

"Alright." Bella obediently snuggled into his arms and closed her eyes.

Damian turned off the overhead light, leaving only the night light, and lay down.

"Damian..." Bella nestled in his arms, half-hugging his waist, and gently rubbed her head against him, saying softly, "Damian, I really feel so lucky."

After all that wandering, they almost never met again, but surprisingly ended up together.

Those past sorrows and tears, in hindsight, still made Bella’s heart flutter.

Damian gently patted her back to soothe her, "Sleep."

"Mm." Bella held him tightly, finally sleeping peacefully.
