Chapter 40: Chapter 39: Malicious Framing (Part 1)

Bella was drowsily pulled into Rhonda’s room.

The other newcomers were already in the room, and everyone stood up, greeted each other with smiles, and seemed quite easy to get along with.

Since she was dragged there, Bella had to force herself to introduce herself and awkwardly sat down in the middle of these newcomers.

"Bella, I heard you’re playing Hera, right? That’s the third female lead; how did you manage to get that role?" a girl suddenly asked.

Having experienced the previous targeting by the roommate, Bella instinctively felt a bit defensive about this question. She just shook her head and said, "I don’t know. The director said my small stature fits Hera’s character setting."

"How is that possible? If they’re just looking for short actresses, there are plenty of those in the entertainment circle," a guy interjected beside her. "Bella must have some special trick but just doesn’t want to share it with us." His words had a hint of hostility, and the atmosphere instantly became awkward.

Bella’s expression changed a bit as she sensed the unfriendly targeting in the guy’s tone.

Rhonda was watching from the side. Even though she was the one who forcibly brought Bella to the gathering, now she was saying nothing, just holding a bag of chips, smiling and enjoying the spectacle, with no intention to speak up for Bella.

Bella glanced at her, stood up, and said, "You guys have fun; I’m going back to pack my luggage." With that, she turned around and left the room.

Rhonda chuckled, put down the chips, and said to the guy who had spoken sharply, "Do you even know how to talk? You pissed her off with just one sentence."

"I was just stating facts; she’s the one who’s petty. Who can you blame?" The guy shrugged indifferently, picked up a bottle of juice, unscrewed the cap, and took a big sip.

Rhonda rolled her eyes at him and deliberately lowered her voice: "What do you know? If she could get the role of Hera, it means she has someone backing her. Be careful, all of you."

"Who could she possibly have? She probably just did someone a favor to exchange for this role. It’s all a one-time deal; there’s no ongoing relationship," the guy continued. "If she really had some strong background, would she be crammed on a bus with us? Staying in this rundown, hostel-like hotel with us? Stop being ridiculous!"

That’s indeed the logic. If Bella really had some impressive background, the crew staff certainly would give her special treatment.

It was precisely because of this that Rhonda agreed with others to target Bella.

"Forget it, she doesn’t seem very smart anyway. Even though she got the role of Hera this time, she won’t make much of herself in the future in the circle." Rhonda sneered, "Just wait and see the show later."

"Rhonda, you said earlier there’s a show to watch. What exactly is it?"

"You’ll know soon enough."

This circle is even more cutthroat than the workplace; everyone wants fame, so it’s always stepping on the low and lifting the high more often, rarely providing help when needed.

Bella returned to her room to repack her luggage, feeling somewhat displeased. She didn’t understand why those newcomers in the crew were all targeting her, did she really snatch someone else’s role?

But she didn’t even know the chief producer, how could they talk such nonsense?

Bella was still lost in her thoughts when the room door suddenly swung open, and a voice rang out, "That Jade Buddha was specially bought for me by my mom from Vardane; how could it just go missing?"
