Chapter 41: Chapter 40: Malicious Framing (Part 2)

The shouting was familiar, and Bella Acker recognized it as her roommate’s voice.

She set down the clothes she was still folding and turned towards the door.

Her young roommate had already entered the room with the crew staff who arranged their lodging, pointing at Bella and saying, "After I got to the room, she came in. Then I went out to buy some food, and when I came back, I found that the Jade Buddha in the box was missing."

The crew staff glanced at Bella Acker before asking, "Farah Garner, are you sure you brought the Jade Buddha with you?"

The young girl, Farah Garner, nodded immediately, "Of course I’m sure. My mom said that since it’s the first time I’m leaving home, I should carry a Jade Buddha for safety. Because it’s so valuable, I couldn’t bear to wear it around my neck and only kept it carefully by my side. I didn’t expect it would disappear in the blink of an eye. How...how am I supposed to explain this to my mom?"

As Farah spoke, tears welled up in her eyes, ready to fall.

On the first day of joining the group, a newcomer actor like her faced such a troublesome situation. The crew staff felt somewhat impatient, furrowed his brow, and turned his gaze back to Bella Acker, asking, "You..."

"I’m Bella Acker."

"Alright. Ms. Acker, you’ve been in the room the whole time, did you see Farah’s Jade Buddha?"

"What do you mean by asking me that?" Bella wasn’t stupid; she immediately realized that the staff’s question insinuated suspicion that she had taken Farah’s Jade Buddha.

"No need to be nervous, Ms. Acker. I’m just asking. If Ms. Acker saw it, please tell us so we don’t waste time searching all over." The crew staff said, his eyes already starting to inspect the clothes Bella had folded and her suitcase.

His gaze was rather presumptuous, which made Bella very unhappy.

She had no idea about any Jade Buddha, yet here she was being questioned like a thief. It’s not right to bully someone this way. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Bella felt wronged, her eyes began to sting, but she bit her lip, refusing to appear intimidated, "I was just dragged to a gathering by them and only just got back. I haven’t seen any Jade Buddha."

"This room only has the two of us staying in here. When something goes missing and you say you didn’t see it, who would believe you?" Farah stepped forward, aggressive in her approach, "You say you didn’t see it, then do you dare to let me search your suitcase?"

"Searching my suitcase without any reason is an invasion of my privacy!"

"Didn’t you say you didn’t see it? If you’re innocent, why don’t you dare let me search? This way you can prove your innocence!" Farah said, turning to look at the crew staff, "Brother Lawson, I’m sharing the room with her. If these doubts aren’t cleared up, how can I stay in peace moving forward? Who’s to say what won’t go missing today and something else tomorrow."

The crew staff frowned, "Ms. Acker, since that’s the case, to prove your innocence, would it be alright for me to check your luggage?"

"I am innocent; there’s no need for extra proof!" Bella felt aggrieved to the point of tears, but facing Farah’s aggressiveness and the obviously partial staff, she found it hard to argue.

Yet, she couldn’t let them search through her luggage; it was disrespectful!

The situation reached an impasse!

Farah’s voice was loud, and since they lived in adjacent rooms, all of the crew members gathered around to see what was happening.

The room quickly became crowded with people.

Bella Acker saw Rhonda and the others had also arrived. With a glimmer of hope, she said, "Rhonda, you can vouch for me, right? I went to the gathering with you, I wasn’t even in the room then."
