What Do You Mean I Have To Comprehend Dao As A Mortal God?-Chapter 72: Defending The Bunnies
The Anomaly in front charged towards me, its fist raised up in preparation to punch down towards me from above.
I lowered my stance and punched upwards as well, using all of my strength to match its fist with mine.
Our fists collided and I felt an immense weight press down on me before I managed to push back against the orc Anomaly, forcing it to stumble back a few steps.
I had no time to rest as two came from the sides, one of them reaching out to try and grab me while the other was aiming a punch at me instead.
I punched out both my fists at the same time, shooting out two bolts of lightning that struck them in the chest.
It was not enough to kill them but it was certainly enough to stop them in their tracks for the moment, giving me time to leap at one and smash my fist into its unprotected face,
A loud crack could be heard as the Anomal’s head was smashed open and I kicked it away to use it as a springboard, launching myself towards the other Anomaly that was in the midst of shaking itself out of its numbness.
I activated Kris’s ability and increased the gravity on myself, dropping me down like a comet towards that Anomaly.
I grabbed onto its head and smashed it down into the ground, sending a shockwave blasting out from the impact zone.
Just as I leapt to my feet to check who was next, a scream came from the tunnel opening and I spun around to realise there was a group of Anomalies that had completely ignored me in favour of pouring through the hole in the wall instead.
Fuck...
I prepared to rush to stop them when something smashed against my side and I found myself being flung away to smash into the wall.
I was expecting to feel pain from maybe having my ribs broken from the blow or at least suffering from some damage but...
When I pulled myself out of the wall and checked myself, I only received some scratches and nothing else.
It took me a moment to remember...
Thanks Dan... I’ll buy you drinks after this.
Still... These things were definitely strong too...
The Anomalies crowded around me and blocked off the path, preventing me from reaching the tunnel.
At this point, the screams could be heard pretty clearly so there’s no doubt the Anomalies that got past were now attacking the colony of bunny girls.
And from what I remember, they aren’t exactly fighters and had to rely on weapons to fight back, which were no doubt ineffective against these Anomalies.
I’m not sure how far my Guardians were but it was a long way down from the top so they wouldn’t be able to reach there that quickly.
And if Kris did what I did to get to the bottom, I doubt he would be able to hold off all of them alone.
In other words... I have to get past all of these Anomalies no matter what!
My first instinct was to try charging through the Anomalies to break through their lines but they were several Anomalies deep and facing one head on was already a challenge for me so there’s no way I would be able to break through this line quickly.
If only there was a way for me to get past them quickly... Could I jump over them? No... The ceiling isn’t high enough for that... What if I... Wait a minute...
I should also have Ava’s powers and she’s supposed to specialise in space and gravity magic right?
Even though I’ve never used magic before... If her powers are also now part of my arsenal, I should be able to do something similar, right?
In that case...
I tried to imagine a portal opening up in front of me which I could use to return to the colony.
And... Nothing happened.
The Anomalies were slowly advancing on me, taking their time to surround me as though they knew I had nowhere to go.
It almost felt like they were toying with me before they moved in for the kill.
I furrowed my brows and focused on the space in front of me again, concentrating on imagining a space tearing itself open to form a portal.
At first, it still looked like nothing was going to happen until a small spark appeared in the air.
I then felt some kind of energy flow out from me and the spark happened again.
Banking on that being the answer, I focused on trying to force open the portal while also pouring that same energy into that space.
There was a loud crackling sound before the space in front of me quite literally tore itself open, which was definitely not the same as how Ava had summoned her portal.
Still, I wasn’t going to complain about it and immediately leapt towards the portal.
The Anomalies saw the portal and started to rush towards me, clearly intending to stop me.
Unfortunately for them, I managed to dive through it before they reached me and I felt the space snap shut the moment I dove through it.
I quickly realised that I really did manage to create a portal so that actually worked.
The next thing I realised was that the exit of the portal was not on the ground like what I had intended to do and it had appeared at the very top of the chasm...
I panicked as I found myself falling towards the ground unexpectedly.
I even saw my Guardians still in the midst of running towards the bottom via the spiral, their speed impeded by the bunny girls that were trying to run past them.
Spinning around, I saw the group of Anomalies that had gone past me crushing through the machinery like they were made of paper to storm towards the bunny girls.
A few of the bunny girls had unfortunately ran to a corner of the chasm that was opposite of where the slope that led to the upper levels were.
They realised their mistake a little too late as the Anomalies had already moved into the space in between them, cutting them off from reaching the slope.
The only reason the Anomalies had not gotten to them was because of a certain catboy swinging his greatsword while jumping around the Anomalies to distract them.
I guess Kris must have also done the same thing as I did and jumped down to the bottom.
I wondered why Ava did not just open a portal to send everyone down but I guess there must be some restrictions or timing that prevented her from doing so.
As I dove towards the Anomalies, I saw one of them breaking away to charge towards the cowering bunny girls.
Kris noticed it and immediately leapt towards the creature, his greatsword swinging down towards its head.
The Anomaly turned towards him and raised its arm, catching the sword with its rock armour and deflecting it away from its vulnerable parts.
Kris tried to jump away but the Anomaly was already swinging its arm towards him and he realised he did not have enough time to get away.
He raised up his greatsword right as the Anomaly’s arm struck the flat of his blade with a thundering crash.
I winced as Kris got sent flying and the poor guy smashed into the wall right beside the group of bunny girls, throwing up a cloud of dust.
The smoke cleared to reveal Kris trying to push himself up but it was clear he suffered quite a lot of damage as he stumbled forward and fell onto the ground.
The bunny girls let out a cry of despair and they ran over to him to check on him.
When it was clear that he was not getting up, the girls actually arranged themselves to stand protectively in front of him, using themselves as a shield fearlessly as the Anomaly stomped towards them.
They didn’t even cower when the Anomaly raised its fist in preparation to smash it down towards them.
Thankfully, I was already close to it so they didn’t need to sacrifice themselves.
I crashed down on top of the Anomaly and smashed it into the ground before it could actually swing its fist.
I then grabbed it by its arms and spun on my heels to throw it towards one of the Anomalies that was closest to the slope, smashing both of them into the wall.
"Kris, you good?" I called out.
A groan came from him as he pushed himself up on a shaky elbow, "Just... Give me a moment... To catch my breath..."
I nodded at him, "Take as much time as you need."
I turned back to face the Anomalies, activating the purple smoke and charging my fists with lightning.
At the same time, I spotted the rest of my Guardians arriving at the bottom of the slope, all of them already prepared for battle.
Alright you bastards... This is round two... And you made it personal.
