What Do You Mean I Have To Comprehend Dao As A Mortal God?-Chapter 73: Fighting Them Back Into The Tunnels
Round two started with me initiating the fight this time.
"Let me borrow this," I told Kris, pulling out his greatsword from the ground before charging towards the Anomaly closest to me.
Taking a page out of his book, I jumped into the air before changing my gravity to fall towards the Anomaly faster, the sword poised in my hand to slash at the creature.
It raised its arm in an attempt to block it, just like what had happened with Kris.
Too bad for this Anomaly that I wasn’t done yet as I tried to channel Jia Lian’s ability through me, imagining a blue projection of the sword appearing from the blade.
While her projection could create objects that were more than ten times the size of the original object, my resulting projection barely created a small coating around the blade of the greatsword I was holding.
It was enough for me as my main goal was to enhance the blade and protect it from the rock armour of the Anomaly.
As I had expected, the sword sliced through the rock armour easily and went all the way through the arm and also slicing through the body that was behind it as well.
It then continued all the way down as the blade disappeared into the ground and I had a moment of panic as I reversed the gravity on me before I crashed into the ground.
I still landed with enough force to smash a small crater at my feet before I pulled the sword out from the crack that I had made with the sword.
As I hefted it up, the Anomaly in front of me split into two and fell apart, crashing into the ground noisily.
That was the cue as the other Anomalies charged towards me, intent on avenging their fallen comrade.
I lowered myself into a stance as I saw my Guardians engage the Anomalies on their side of the cavern.
It looks like they’re holding their ground well so I don’t need to worry about them.
I brought my focus back to the Anomalies in front of me and swung the sword at the next Anomaly that tried to rush towards me.
The sword cleaved through the Anomaly and sliced it in half, its corpse dropping towards the ground.
Before it could even fall onto the ground, another Anomaly rushed towards me from behind the first one.
I frowned when I realised they had intentionally sent the first one after me as a way to get an opening for the second Anomaly to try and catch me while my sword was still out of position.
The Anomaly raised its arm and tried to smack me with it, only for me to release my left hand on the sword to catch his smack with my palm.
I then switched my grip on the greatsword and smashed the hilt into the Anomaly’s side, sending it skidding back to crash into another Anomaly and toppling them onto the ground.
I grabbed the sword with both hands again before stepping towards the pile of Anomalies and swinging it down on them.
The sword cleaved through the entire pile easily, cutting the entire group of Anomalies into half.
I looked up to prepare for the next Anomaly that might be coming after me next but I realised that the rest of the Anomalies had chosen to ignore me to try to head towards the upper floors instead.
Blocking their advance were my Guardians who were doing their best to keep the other Anomalies away from the upper floors, the few of them forming a defensive line at the bottom of the slope.
Jia Lian was holding them back with her shield alongside Olivia as the vanguards while the others were shooting at them through the shield.
A few of the Anomalies had already been killed and there was a small pile of them in front of Jia Lian but it also looked like she was struggling to hold them back as every time an Anomaly smashed against her shield, she would have to take a step back.
The only reason why she still managed to hold her ground is thanks to Olivia who would jump out of the shield and smash the Anomaly away to create space for her before jumping back behind the shield to get out of reach.
Just as I was preparing to join them, a few of the Anomalies stepped away from the group and looked up at the spiral above them.
They then braced themselves before leaping up, easily reaching the upper floors and climbing over the railings.
More screams erupted from above and I hesitated for a moment as I turned towards Kris who had been moved to sit upright by the bunny girls.
He gave me a firm nod and that was all I needed.
I lowered myself for a moment before jumping up, reaching the highest floor that I saw an Anomaly climb over just in time to see it advancing towards a pair of bunny girls.
I prepared to jump at it until a blur came from the side and struck the Anomaly at the side of its head, revealing itself to be Maylene who was holding what looked like a metal pipe in her hands.
The attack did not damage but it definitely distracted the Anomaly to turn towards her, only for her to dash away before it could grab her thanks to her speed.
I leapt in after that, slashing the sword through the torso of the Anomaly and cleaving it into two separate pieces.
The bunny girls I just saved looked up at me with what I supposed might be awe.
"Are you alright?" I asked.
Both of them nodded.
"Get to the higher levels before more of them show up!" I ordered, prompting them to leap to their feet to obey.
Maylene turned to me, "Are you really going to fight them all, Qing?! There’s so many of them!"
I frowned at her, "What would you have me do then? Abandon all of you?"
Without waiting for an answer, I turned to run down towards the lower levels where there were more Anomalies in the midst of terrorising the other bunny girls.
I had to leap over some of the bunny girls as they were still in the midst of escaping but I’m sure they wouldn’t mind me doing that.
One of the Anomalies had a bunny girl lifted up in the air and it looked like it was about to throw her over the railing so I punched out a lightning bolt that struck against its side, stunning it for a moment.
I even made sure to lower the power so the bunny girl doesn’t get electrocuted too badly by the blow as well.
That gave me enough time to slice off its arm to drop the hostage before I grabbed it by its other arm and changed its gravity to fling it towards another group of Anomalies.
With my enhanced strength, the improvised cannon ball smashed through the entire throng of creatures with enough force to blast them into pieces. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
I jumped down to the floor below and furrowed my brows as I found two Anomalies standing over another bunny girl, her limbs twisted and obviously broken.
I drove the sword through one of their backs and had the blade pierce through its chest.
The Anomaly roared in pain and clawed at its wound, only to find itself being lifted in the air as I swung the blade to use it as a hammer to smash against its companion.
As much as I would like to take care of this one, I had more Anomalies coming up from below and chasing after several more bunny girls.
One of them was just about to grab an escaping bunny girl from behind until I did a jump kick to smash my sole against its face, sending it skidding back to crash into the Anomaly behind it.
Unfortunately, that put me in the middle of two Anomalies and they swung their fists at the same time, smashing it into my chest.
Pain erupted from where they hit me and I slid a few steps back.
Thankfully, Dan’s power came in clutch again as the damage was reduced and I was already leaping back to slash Kris’s greatswords through my two attackers before they could recover.
I chanced a look behind me and it seemed like that was the last group of bunny girls that hadn’t been able to escape, meaning now I could focus on smashing through this crowd of Anomalies.
I lowered myself into a stance and concentrated, calling upon not only Jia Lian’s arcane construct ability but also Olivia’s lightning.
Sparks gathered around my arm to electrify the blade as the group attempted a charge to break past me, only for me to swing the greatsword in a horizontal slash and cut through their midsections in a single strike.
Lightning exploded out of the blade and struck the Anomalies behind the group that had been out of the sword’s range, piercing holes in their unprotected parts and electrocuting them into charred remains.
I looked down to the bottom floor, expecting more of those Anomalies to be showing up but... Huh? They are retreating?
They actually know how to retreat?
And just as suddenly as they had come, the remaining Anomalies had run off back into the tunnels, disappearing into the darkness.
