What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?-Chapter 566: Giant Pirate Lord
Chapter 566: Giant Pirate Lord
I’m not even sure if you can call that a Power Armour since it looked more like a walking fortress...
That Power Armour is huge as hell and I’m pretty sure even my Power Armour could fit inside that Power Armour...
And the weapons that were currently strapped to it... Is that an actual tank cannon that is mounted on his shoulder? That thing is huge...
Is this guy supposed to be a giant or something? Is there an alien race that are giants?
So I guess this is supposed to be the Pirate Lord of this group of pirates...
"So... What do we have here, Matsumoto?" The Pirate Lord asked.
His voice was deep and rumbling, making me feel as though the entire room was shaking from just his voice alone.
"My lord," The guy leading us bowed before straightening to gesture towards me. "This is Tera, leader of the Teran Mercenary Company as you had requested to meet."
The Pirate Lord leaned forward slightly on the throne, the throne making a loud groaning sound from the weight of the armour it was supporting.
The light in his visor seemed to glow brighter for just a moment as he turned his gaze to me.
"So... You’re the one who supposedly took down a Pirate Lord on your own? Are you also here for my head as well?"
I tilted my head slightly at him, "In case you haven’t noticed, we’re only here because you wanted to work together with us. We were actively avoiding you and your crew."
"Hmm. That is true. So you’re also here for the Pirate’s Hoard, are you not?"
"Is that what you call that? I suppose we are. Isn’t that why you called us here in the first place?"
"Just to make sure we weren’t mistaken and you just stumbled here by accident. So care to explain why you came here all armed like that? Even going so far as to put on a Power Armour for this meeting."
I gestured at the Pirate Lord in front of me, "Can’t the same be said of you? And you really expect us to walk deep into a pirate base unarmed where there’s no doubt a ton of people who would like to do nothing more than kill us?"
"I gave my word that you will not be harmed here and I honour my agreements."
"Forgive me for not trusting the words of a pirate."
"Fair enough. But if you truly did not trust us, then you are a fool for even accepting this invitation and coming in here in the first place. Did you really believe that you could leave if we intended for this to be a trap?"
"Do you think we would walk in here if we didn’t believe we could level your entire base to the ground even if it was a trap?"
There was a moment of silence and I could see a few of the other pirates in the room with us looking at each other with uncertainty.
I guess they were not expecting us to show such an attitude while in their territory.
The Pirate Lord merely sniffed at my words and waved his hand in the air dismissively, "I suppose we should not underestimate the Mercenary who managed to defeat a Pirate Lord. Let’s get to business shall we? We’re both here for the Pirate Hoard and we both find ourselves kept away from it by a Leviathan."
"You said that you had a solution?"
"I want to first know what you found in that derelict station. I’m more surprised that you actually came out alive."
That caught my attention, "What do you mean by that?"
"Were you not assaulted by a bunch of androids while you were there?"
"Oh. You’re saying those androids weren’t put there by you?"
He let out a scoff, "If we had the capability to do that, why would we not have them here or use them for our raids instead?"
I guess he has a point...
So we now know that the androids weren’t there because of the pirates, then what was that shadowy figure that we saw in the video? Is it really an eldritch entity or the ghost of the dead people in the station?
He continued, "When we went there to loot the place, we only got so far as the security room to try and see if we could get the generator doors open before my men were attacked by an entire bunch of androids that came out of nowhere."
"That’s odd... We managed to get the generator up and running before the androids showed up... And also, we didn’t see any corpses that belonged to either human or android..."
"Hmph... Those androids must have cleaned them up then. So you managed to fight them?"
"We managed to fight them off long enough to get what we wanted from the station at least," I half lied. No need to tell these pirates everything after all.
"And what exactly did you find?"
I shook my head, "Before that, I want to know your plan for involving us in this and also what we get out of helping you. For all we know, you would just attack us after we share what we know."
One of the pirates at the side let out a growl at me, "Ha?! Seriously, I had it with this bitch! Coming in here and talking all big like she’s some hot shit! You think you’re in a position to negotiate with us?! We’ll just beat it out of you!!"
The Pirate Lord tilted his head slightly, "Matsumoto."
The guy that had been leading us bowed, "Yes, my lord."
He turned towards the pirate who had shouted and for a moment, I noticed a flash of light coming from his feet before his figure disappeared.
He reappeared behind that pirate with what looked like a katana held in his hand though its blade was made up of pure red energy.
There was a moment of silence before the pirate fell backwards, revealing his legs had been separated below the knee.
"Ahhhh!!! My legs!! My legs!!! Ahhhhhh!!!" He screamed.
The Matsumoto guy then casually deactivated the blade and sheathed it at his waist, which I realised held no scabbard for the blade since there was no blade when deactivated.
The Pirate Lord scoffed, "Seems like there’s some people here who have grown insolent enough to think that they can butt into my conversation... Throw that bastard in the brig, I’ll educate him later."
A few other pirates went over to drag the screaming pirate away, ignoring his cries for mercy.
The fact that they did that so quickly meant this wasn’t the first time this happened...
The Pirate Lord then turned his gaze back to us, "Now where were we? Oh that’s right. You want to know our plan, right?"
I nodded, "Your messenger mentioned about you having the potential firepower to deal with the Leviathan. Are you really intending to attack the Leviathan head on?"
"Hmm... Are you aware that the Leviathan emits a field around it that disables any propulsion system?"
Oh... I didn’t know that...
"All propulsion systems?" I parroted.
The Pirate Lord leaned back on his chair, "So you weren’t aware then. Did the station’s logs not say anything about it? Is there even anything remotely useful about the information you found from there?"
"You still haven’t told us what your plan is," I reminded him.
"I suppose I haven’t. Well then, you might want to listen to this. The previous owners of this station made a weapon specifically to target Leviathans. Probably as a precaution or because Leviathans have shown up around here before."
I frowned, "Then can’t you just use that weapon to kill it? Why are you still stuck out here then?"
"Do you think we would still be here if it was as simple as that? First of all, that weapon was locked behind a secure vault that is protected behind several layers of security which we don’t have access to. We only just managed to blow it open recently and after all our efforts, we found out that it needs an activation code in order to be used. And guess where that activation code is located?"
"In the Research Station?" I guessed.
We haven’t looked through all the files yet so I guess the activation code must be buried in one of the files I got, probably amongst the folders that I downloaded in the security room.
The Pirate Lord lifted his chin at me, "That’s right. So you have the access code to that weapon right now. Isn’t that why you agreed to our invitation in the first place?"
I paused to weigh our choices for a moment and I guess I might as well reveal some of our cards.
"We had another idea actually. One that involves another Leviathan where we would lure it here and have it fight against the other Leviathan to clear the way."
There was a pause before the Pirate Lord leaned forward, "Oh? Now you have my attention. Do explain."
Actually... Now that I think about it... Is using the weapon a better idea instead?
