I cleared my throat, "Ahem... So I just want to say that with the new conditions that you have stated... I do have an interest in taking this offer. I was just exploring my options earlier with that question. So umm... Could you tell me more details about it?"

She cleared her throat, "Ahem... Certainly, Miss Tera! As I was saying, we would help you get the pass to allow you into the Inner Colonies so that you can be one of our test pilots! May I also just ask how many people there are in your Mercenary Company?"

"Well... Counting myself, there’s seven of us."

She lifted up her personal terminal and started tapping into it before smiling at me again, "We would be able to set you up in one of our pilot dormitories and your crew can stay in one of the hotels within a list that I will send to you in a little while that we would pay for."

"Actually... Do you want my entire crew to be test pilots too? All of us... Err... All of us except for one has an Exo-Knight pilot license. And I would say that they are on par with me if not better than me in some cases on piloting an Exo-Knight."

She gasped, her demeanour completely returning to how she was before Ries threatened her.

"Eh? Really?! Ah... This... This might be above my position... Erm... May I know where you are staying right now?"

"Right now? We’re staying at The Grand Honpeki."

"Ah! I’m familiar with that! Let me contact my superiors and arrange another meeting with you, would that be ok?"

"I guess so? I assume you want to meet the rest of my crew as well to let them know about this, right?"

"Yes! I think it would be best if we can provide the details to everyone so that they are also involved."

"Then sure. Err... Just contact me or something? We intend to stay here for maybe another day or two before we leave."

"No worries! I should be contacting you by tonight if you are available! If not, tomorrow morning would work as well!"

I hesitated for a moment, "Err... I should be fine tonight as long as it’s not too late."

"Of course! There’s no need to worry about us disturbing your sleep, Miss Tera!"

That wasn’t what I was worried about... The girls and I would definitely be busy doing bedroom activities at night so... Well... You know...

Since we had agreed to another meeting with her and her superiors, I left the Exo-Knight with Ries as she had to check that the machine was still in working order and check for any damages.

Unfortunately for me, I was not free to leave yet as several police officers were waiting down below for me.

I ended up needing to give them a statement for their records and they were especially interested in how I managed to breach the protective box and gain control over the Exo-Knight.

I simply told them that I was using a secret weapon of mine that I would rather not expose to them and surprisingly, they accepted that answer.

Still... The questioning took over an hour and I was already pretty exhausted at the end.

Even Ries was moaning while hugging my arm with her ears drooping down.

I left the exhibition hall through a side door and I coordinated with Renata to meet up with the girls.

There was still a crowd outside the exhibition hall, though it was definitely fewer than the crowd that had been waiting to enter the exhibition hall at first.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have a ride this time and I didn’t feel comfortable relying on Merina again to send us a car since it should be working hours for her.

I thought we would be heading back to the hotel immediately but after I told the girls that I had something to share with them in regards to what happened earlier, everyone agreed that we would just hit the bars nearby so that we could have a drink.

I did point out that it was still basically ’afternoon’ timing in the station but I guess the people here don’t discriminate against drinking times...

We went to what looked like a shopping street nearby and there were several different stores along the street in between two towering buildings that looked like apartment complexes.

It was definitely not a well off area as there was trash and people just loitering around the sides of the streets, some of them openly taking drugs and there was even a fight in one corner between two dudes.

Just stepping here already felt like we had entered another world considering the difference in environment and all we had to do was cross a street.

There was a single bar along that street and we headed inside the place, the door sliding open as we approached it.

Honestly, the first thing I thought when I stepped in was that the place looked shady as hell.

It was definitely not a fine dining establishment and seeing that the street outside wasn’t in the best condition, I suppose such was expected of a place like this.

Seeing the patrons inside, I could tell why it wasn’t a problem to find drinks at this time of day.

The place wasn’t exactly packed but it was at least half full and there were at least a dozen or so patrons that were already several bottles deep in. A few of them were even passed out on the table and I got to see someone literally pulling out Credit Chips from their pockets and leaving with them.

Girls... Are you really sure you want to drink here?

My girls didn’t even look concerned by what they were seeing and simply looked for an empty table that could fit all of us.

Unfortunately, all the bigger tables were taken and the ones that aren’t looked too broken or disgusting for us to want to sit there.

In the end, we just went to the bar to take a seat at the counter instead.

The bartender was a rather large looking guy with cybernetic arms and he raised an eyebrow at us when we took our seats.

He didn’t comment on our presence and merely nodded, "What can I get you?"

I nodded back at him, "I don’t suppose you have any house pours?"

The bartender gave me a look, "Lady... What kind of place do you think this is? If you want beer just say so."

I wanted to shoot back that if that was all he had, then why bother even asking us?

Still, I decided to just let it slide and waved at the bartender, "Seven beers then."

He huffed and went over to the taps where he started to fill up the mugs with my order.

Amber turned to me, "So what happened back there, Tera? You mentioned something about getting an offer?"

I sighed, thinking about where I should start.

"Well... I guess I might as well just start from here... The people from Crusaders Inc are interested in hiring all of us to be test pilots for a period of time. And they are willing to sponsor us the permits needed to enter the Inner Colonies to do so."

Mara frowned, "They offered that to you without asking? Why do they want to do that?"

"That’s because they saw Daddy’s piloting skills and they were especially impressed by it!" Renata answered for me, my eldritch maid looking especially proud when she did so.

Yumiko scratched her cheek, "Hmm... Then that means they most likely want to collect Mistress’s piloting data for improving their Exo-Knights."

I thought as much, so I wasn’t that surprised by that revelation.

"I did ask if they would also want to hire all of you as test pilots too and the representative said she would bring her superiors to come talk to us since that scale is too big for her to handle."

"Hmm... Do I need to do an extension to our stay then, Captain?" Mara asked.

I shook my head, "They mentioned that they should be available tonight or tomorrow morning so there’s no need for that."

The bartender then returned and placed seven mugs of beer on the counter.

I reached to grab one and the girls also picked one up for themselves.

As I was just about to bring it to my lips, one of the male patrons walked over to us and shot us a creepy smile.

"Hey, I can’t help but notice all of you just drinking here by yourselves... I suppose that means you all want some company, don’t you?"

Ah... I should have expected that there would be such a development considering where we were...

I opened my mouth to reject him when I realised that we were surrounded by even more men, all of them looking at us with eyes that clearly suggested they wanted more than just drinks from us.

Peeking at my girls, I realised that they had predatory looks on their faces. The kind where they knew we were about to fight.

Something tells me that they chose to come here for other reasons aside from just drinks...
