When Will My Childhood Sweetheart Marry Me?-Chapter 46 - 0: Hold You for Free
He had barely turned around when the bus suddenly braked hard, his body pitching forward due to inertia, his head crashing into that warm chest.
"..." Jiang Shuyao’s cheeks flushed as she lifted her head, looking straight into someone’s eyes that held a teasing smile.
Pei Yan was very close to her, tall and with long arms, gripping the overhead handrail firmly like a mountain. The advantage men had in such aspects was something women could not envy.
She silently straightened up without looking up at him, her gaze only resting on his stern jawline before she extended her hand to pass over her jacket.
"I’m not wearing it, it’s hot," Pei Yan said, glancing away indifferently.
He didn’t take it, so Jiang Shuyao had to continue holding it, unable to free her hands to grab the handrail. When the bus turned a corner, she lost her balance completely.
Ha.
Someone above her head seem to revel in her misfortune, peering down at her and asking, "Can’t you stand still?"
Jiang Shuyao ignored him.
Her sulky demeanor made Pei Yan smirk, "Brother’s back is strong, free for you to hold, want to?"
She: "..."
With the lesson learned, she stuffed the jacket into his hands and immediately turned away, shutting her ears off, completely ignoring him.
Pei Yan smiled faintly, feeling that these past few days he had been like an animal in heat. Since that night he brought out those couple’s slippers, every moment he saw her, the blood in his body roared and bubbled.
If it kept going like this, something was bound to happen, but damn it, he couldn’t control himself.
Once things quieted down behind him, Jiang Shuyao also enjoyed the peace, recalling the last major question on today’s chemistry exam, feeling the solution was too complicated.
In a daze, her shoulder was suddenly touched, but she didn’t mind, bumping and jostling were normal on the crowded bus.
After a few seconds, however, she realized that the person behind her was getting uncomfortably close.
Jiang Shuyao frowned and stepped back, but the person deliberately squeezed closer again.
Just then, Yasong Residence was announced, and during the moment the rear door opened, the crowd surged erratically.
She hadn’t reacted before suddenly seeing Pei Yan, standing behind her, push through the crowd, grab the hair of the man behind her, and drag him off the bus.
Jiang Shuyao sensed something was off, tightened her expression, and quickly followed him off. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
People on the bus looked at each other, confused but hesitant to intervene. Shortly, the bus drove away, and at the station, Pei Yan kicked the man harshly in the abdomen.
"Little bastard, what are you doing!" The girl shouted from a few meters away, clearly frightened.
The man, writhing on the ground clutching his stomach and seeing the furious and cold look in the boy’s eyes, couldn’t help but kick his legs backward. "You, stay back, or I’ll call the police!"
Pei Yan paused, softened his expression, then turned around and said to Jiang Shuyao, "You go back first."
The cold winter night, his coat thrown idly on the ground, he stood in just a short-sleeved T-shirt, the night breeze making the thin fabric cling to his waist and revealing his abdominal muscles.
Jiang Shuyao guessed what he wanted to do and quickly ran over to hold him, "Let’s just go."
Under the streetlights, his youthful face looked profound, especially the gash across his brow bone, the blood fierce, making him look somewhat ferocious.
The warmth of the girl’s palm on his wrist and the touch of skin flared his protective instincts even more.
On the ground, the man who had been kicked regretted everything deeply. Seeing their reaction, he quickly bowed his head and begged for mercy, "I misunderstood, I wasn’t trying to take advantage of her. I just, just wanted to steal her phone."
Steal.. the phone?
Jiang Shuyao had a few lines of frustration on her forehead.
It seemed this thief was a novice, possibly a first-timer.
After a moment’s thought, she wasn’t too angry. Jiang Shuyao sincerely said to the man, "Even an old man in his eighties knows how to make a living by selling pancakes. You’re a young, able-bodied man, learn a craft, fix phones at a street stall if you need to, but please, stop stealing."
After she finished, the man nodded vigorously, repeatedly thanking her, afraid the fierce young man might change his mind, then quickly ran off without a trace.
Pei Yan stood there, the cold wind blowing, his feelings as complex as a spiraling strand of DNA.
He realized that this girl beside him was not only his own ideal but everyone’s.
Including the just-fled thief.
It was time to teach her what kindness was—and what too much kindness could lead to.
