Wizard: Adventures in Two Worlds-Chapter 523 - 30 Destiny
Destiny?
Scenes from the past emerged in Carlโs mind, his eyes glazed over with a distant look. After a long while, he let out a deep sigh.
"Ayala..." ๐๐ป๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐๐๐๐ธ๐ซ๐๐ก.๐ฌ๐ธ๐
The Wizardโs Book states that itโs best for wizards not to become emotionally involved with mortals, as it will only bring harm to both parties. I have always kept this in mind and abided by it. However, I never expected to end up owing such a huge favor this time.
The Fifth Order Secret Techniqueโthe Blessing of the Fate Goddess! Immune to all externally-created misfortune, it allows one to touch the threads of fate, making breakthroughs in cultivation more accessible. This was Ayalaโs gift to him before her demise. Though it didnโt grant legendary luck like finding treasures with every step, it was still a genuine Fifth Order Secret Technique.
Ayala had done more than just that.
Following the guidance of โfateโ, Carl came to a treasure room filled with a multitude of rare and exquisite items. The most important item, of course, was a wooden box filled with Great Divine Grace.
CHING!
Upon opening the box, the clear, crisp sounds of Great Divine Grace pieces clinking against each other reached his ears, like Ayalaโs laughter.
One hundred and thirty-nine pieces of Great Divine Grace.
She knew Carl was collecting Great Divine Grace. And even though Carl was collecting them himself, Ayala had always persisted in this task. All the Great Divine Grace she had gathered over the years was here.
Carl paused for a moment before reaching into the wooden box. With a thought, all the Great Divine Grace transformed into Source Material.
Source Material 13.9
Besides the Great Divine Grace, the treasure room contained many other valuable items, some of which were even of the Third-tier. These were clearly not from Ayalaโs or her companionsโ collection.
Just as Carl was about to take a closer look, the sound of one heavy and one light set of footsteps came from above.
"Valentine."
A rugged voice spoke up, "You donโt need to worry. This place was once a forbidden island, later struck by a Divine Domain Fragment, causing a spatial distortion that transformed it directly into an active volcano."
"The key is," the voice continued, "the Divine Domain Fragment that crashed here originally belonged to the Fire God of this world. Here, I have a boost in strength. Even if I were to encounter an Upper-level Vassal, I could hold them off at the door, even if I couldnโt defeat them outright."
"Thatโs good, thatโs good," Valentine said, sounding relieved. "Bao Te, as you know, I possess little combat ability and can only rely on Divineโs Favored like you for protection. However, the environment here is quite special. It will take some effort to grow anything."
"We need to act quickly," Bao Te said, his voice clearly expressing some discontent. "Recently, Iโve brought more than a thousand people from nearby, all converted into believers. Although theyโve become fire Puppets, they still need energy replenishment. If meat isnโt an option, then things like spirit mushrooms will have to do. Whatever you need, I can provide. Within one month at the latest, you must find a way to sustain them."
"This..." Valentine said, his voice tinged with helplessness. "Iโll do my best."
As the voices grew closer, the door to the treasure room was pushed open from the outside, and two figures appeared.
One, with red hair and fierce eyes, was burly and draped in a garment resembling a monkโs robe. The other had a goatโs head and leaned on a cane with his right hand, his goat-like beard swaying.
"Huh?"
"Hmm?"
Upon seeing Carl in the treasure room, both men were taken aback.
"Who are you?" Bao Te quickly recovered, his expression darkening. "How did you get in here?"
"Me?" Carl glanced around and said slowly, "This place was once mine. Now, Iโve simply come to reclaim what originally belonged to me."
"Bullshit!" Bao Te said furiously, wasting no further words as he clenched his fist and smashed it toward Carl. "I donโt care who you are, just die!"
Fire!
In Carlโs perception, it was as if a scorching sun had descended from the sky right before him. The high temperature threatened to dissolve both his body and consciousness.
This is... the Power of Laws! Middle Position Vassals can also harness the Power of Laws?
Carlโs eyebrows twitched slightly as he swiftly came to a realization. The opponent had already said that this place was unique, providing a strength bonus to Fire Godโs Favored. No wonder he had the confidence to confront Upper-level Vassals.
Ten Thousand Buddha HandsโVajra Seal!
BOOM!
A fist and a palm collided head-on. The invisible force of their impact made the space around them seem to shudder. Yet, the surrounding walls remained undamaged, and even the treasures in the room were only slightly scattered. Clearly, some force was suppressing their destructive power.
In contrast, Valentine had turned and fled the instant the two began fighting, disappearing without a trace.
Third-tier? Bao Teโs expression changed slightly before he said coldly, "So what if youโre an Upper-level Vassal? Here, unless youโre a Fire Godโs Favored, you must kneel before me obediently!"
BOOM!
He hadnโt finished speaking when a continuous barrage of heavy punches burst forth, causing Carlโs body to dip. Even his Silver Body seemed somewhat unable to endure it.
"You can borrow power from this place?" Carl nodded. "Then letโs go to another place."
"What?"
Bao Te was stunned. Then, he felt the world spin around him. By the time he recovered, he was in a different place. The continuous power that had been flowing into his body was instantly cut off, leaving him with an unsettling, hollow sensation. The sight of the Wizard Towers on either side made his heart sink.
BOOM!
An overwhelming force came at him head-on. Here, Carlโs Third-tier power was unrestricted, allowing him to easily suppress the Middle Position Vassal.
Soon, he gained Source Material +7.
ใSometime later.ใ
When Carl returned to the treasure vault, he sensed Valentine cautiously approaching. It seemed he wanted to check on the situation.
"Come out," Carl said, looking toward the entrance as he casually threw Bao Teโs corpse on the ground. "If you donโt want to die, that is."
"Esteemed Divine Envoy," Valentine said, his face turning pale as he slowly emerged from behind the door, his tone dry. "I am a follower of the God of Agriculture, captured by Bao Te and trapped here. I have absolutely no ill intentions towards you."
"The God of Agriculture?" Carl asked, taken aback. "Why did you come down here?"
The other was merely a lower-level Divine Envoy, not skilled in combat, with strength only at the First-order Middle Stage. Forget about descended Divine Envoys; many local natives could probably defeat him.
"This..." Valentine chuckled awkwardly. "Iโm not very popular in the Divine Domain, so someone conspired to send me to the Lower Realm. I was originally supposed to descend with the Hunting Godโs followers. However, the Power of Laws in this world was so strong that it split us apart. Then, I was captured by Bao Te to cultivate things that could be planted in a volcano."
"Hmm." Carl slowly nodded. "First, come with me to the City of Death."
"You are a Divineโs Favored of the City of Death?" Valentine was initially startled, then his face lit up with joy. "Great! Very great! I heard that the City of Death has already opened passages to other cities and survivor bases. Itโs the most populous area around, with several Divine Envoys there. Iโve always wanted to go."
His abilities could only be fully utilized in a populated and safe place; otherwise, they would be severely limited.
"Letโs go." Carl collected the items in the treasure room, then hesitated before saying, "Wait, I need to set up a Barrier first."
This place is still useful to me; I canโt let others easily take it over.
