Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree-Chapter 419: Spatial Loop
The Leonard siblings had only heard of the term Erosion Body but had never delved into understanding it.
They hailed from the Silver Hand, grew up with privilege, visited numerous Other Planes, and had seen countless powerful races bow to wizards.
This naturally led them to look down on Other Planes, and it was only natural they held some disdain for the Devourer Plane.
So when the Leonard siblings arrived at the Devourer Plane, they didn’t bother to learn much about it, and intelligence reports weren’t of much concern to them.
In their view, with the Four Great Wizard Organizations of the West Coast having joined forces, there were no planes they couldn’t conquer, so there was no need to pay much attention.
But in fact, the Wizard Plane was just an insignificant Middle Plane within the Endless Plane.
Duke was a bit speechless when he realized they didn’t even know what an Erosion Body was: "The intelligence reports from above contain information about it. You should read them more carefully."
It was only then that Leonard retrieved an intelligence report from the Space Ring, which contained some basic information about the Devourer Plane.
However, this information was based on the current situation, and there were still many unknowns about the Devourer Plane.
Regarding the Erosion Body, the wizards’ research was not in-depth, and their current understanding was just superficial.
For instance, the current situation wasn’t recorded in the existing data, nor had it been encountered before.
"Are we entering a pollution zone?" Leonard asked after quickly browsing with Spiritual Power.
An Erosion Body typically forms when an Awakened absorbs too much energy in a short time, mutating and becoming polluted.
Pollution zones are formed when an Erosion Body self-destructs at the end of its life, polluting an area.
Duke shook his head slightly: "I’m not sure either. Normally, a pollution zone would last a long time and wouldn’t suddenly appear. I don’t know if we’ve stepped into a suddenly appearing pollution zone."
The surrounding air was filled with the scent of a pollution zone, indeed resembling one. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
However, it was strange because when Duke and others arrived in Black Oak Town, it was just an ordinary town with no Awakened present, let alone any Erosion Bodies.
Now, a bizarre space had appeared here, pulling all four of them in, while the slave creatures were absent, which was quite odd.
"What should we do now?" Leonard asked worriedly, completely forgetting the earlier unpleasantness.
He wasn’t foolish; he knew that only by uniting their forces could they confront the potential dangers, and he certainly wasn’t going to stir up conflict now.
Duke shrugged: "I don’t know either; we can only rely on luck."
He waved his hand, summoning the Storm Dragon Eagle from the Light God Court.
The Storm Dragon Eagle’s massive body immediately occupied the surrounding space, causing the Leonard siblings to take a step back, feeling the fierce and powerful aura of the creature.
Leonard glanced at Duke, subconsciously considering the Storm Dragon Eagle as Duke’s summoned creature, thinking to himself: "It’s a good thing I didn’t rashly confront this guy; he actually has such a strong summoned creature..."
Duke didn’t pay attention to their inner thoughts but sent a Spiritual Power message to the Storm Dragon Eagle: "Try flying around to see if you can find a way out. Be careful and avoid taking risks. If you can’t fly out, come back; don’t force it."
Upon hearing Duke’s command, the Storm Dragon Eagle let out a sharp cry that pierced the sky, spreading its massive wings and soaring into the air like an arrow.
It didn’t fly recklessly but shot straight up, attempting to break through from above.
Leonard and Ella watched anxiously, hoping it could fly out of the eerie zone.
However, a chilling scene unfolded.
As the Storm Dragon Eagle flew higher, its form began to blur and distort in Duke and the others’ sight, as if it were separated by a constantly rippling water curtain.
No matter how vigorously it flapped its wings, the altitude seemed to become an invisible ceiling, preventing it from rising any further.
It even started flapping in place, as if struggling against some unseen barrier, but it could never truly break through.
"There’s a boundary above," Duke said solemnly, looking grave.
The Storm Dragon Eagle seemed to understand it couldn’t leave from above, so it changed direction, darting towards the east side of the town like silver lightning, its speed astonishing, turning into a small black dot almost instantly.
Yet, seconds later, something spine-chilling occurred.
The small black dot, which should have disappeared into the distance, suddenly reappeared without warning in the west side of the town’s sky, flying toward them.
It was as if its high-speed flight had merely looped in a giant circle, only to return to the starting point.
The Storm Dragon Eagle seemed confused and angry, letting out a more irritated screech, speeding northward again.
No matter the direction it flew or how fast, it would mysteriously and bizarrely reappear from the opposite direction after flying for a while.
It seemed trapped in a twisted, Mobius-strip-like space, where all directions ultimately led inward, with no true exit.
After many attempts, the Storm Dragon Eagle also understood the situation, and under Duke’s command, it flew back, hovering above him in vigilance.
Vivian, observing the process, said, "It seems looking for an exit to walk out simply won’t work. Now we either find a way to break this or wait for external support."
"The creation of such a space must have some special reason. The slave creatures outside can surely sense our disappearance, and the United Legion will soon get the news. Once they come to investigate, they should be able to find a way to break this situation."
Vivian remained relatively calm and wasn’t as panicked as Leonard and Ella.
During her studies at the Thorn Holy Tower, she’d read about similar cases in some volumes and didn’t feel much fear about the situation.
Duke nodded: "Indeed, for now, we should ensure our safety and then try to find a way out. We can’t just sit and wait for death."
He waved his hand, releasing the Three-headed Magma Lizard, which immediately raised the temperature around them, dispersing some of the chill in the area.
