Chapter 424: Chapter 424: Erosion Body

Just as the concentrated dark shock wave was about to engulf everyone, a white bright energy shield rose just in time to block this attack with difficulty.

Duke took out two bottles of magic recovery potion and poured them directly into his stomach, then continued to channel magic power to maintain the energy shield.

The white energy shield trembled constantly, barely managing to hold on through great difficulty.

As a Level 1 Magic, the bright energy shield itself has a certain strength, but it is not as strong as this overwhelming wave of energy.

Duke relied entirely on the light attribute of the bright energy shield to barely withstand this wave of impact.

Upon closer inspection, one can see many black smoke rising continuously from the surface of the bright energy shield.

Vivian saw this and realized that Duke was having difficulty maintaining the energy shield, so she quickly stepped in to help.

The white translucent female elf that had been quietly floating beside her instantly moved, transforming into a stream of light and reaching Duke’s front first.

The elf opened her arms, and from thin air appeared countless virtual images of emerald vines emanating ancient life aura, intertwining into a massive emerald shield engraved with mysterious natural runes.

The dark shock wave collided violently with the emerald shield, producing a deafening, terrifying roar.

The emerald shield shook violently, and the emerald light and dark energy frantically annihilated each other, producing a sizzling sound.

Cracks instantly spread across the shield’s surface, and the female elf’s figure became even more transparent and ethereal, clearly under immense pressure.

But this also relieved Duke of great pressure, allowing the bright energy shield to easily withstand the remaining energy waves.

Moments later, the surrounding area gradually calmed, as the violent energy shock wave slowly dissipated.

However, it was clear that things were not over yet.

The collapsed ruins of the ancient well exploded with a boom, and a twisted, terrifying figure crawled out.

It vaguely retained some human form, but its entire skin resembled melted and solidified wax, covered with liquid-like blue erosion energy patterns.

Its head was only half intact, the other half composed of writhing black liquid and pale fragments of bone, with one intact eye and one blood-red eye formed by resentment, staring venomously at Duke.

Its limbs had become long and deformed, ending in blade-like bone claws.

A close look revealed that light attribute energy was still rampaging within its half-head, constantly consuming its internal energy.

This was the result of Duke’s previous Light Judgment, directly slicing off half of its head.

Moreover, the energy of the Light Judgment still rampaged within, causing it immense pain and preventing it from quickly eliminating the light energy within its body.

"Screech!!" The erosion body let out a sharp cry, suddenly lunging at Duke with extreme speed.

Yellow sand surrounded Duke, and Vivian’s emerald shield guarded him, ready and waiting.

However, just as the erosion body was about to reach them, it suddenly changed direction, heading toward Leonard and his sister Ella.

Its target was clear; it aimed for Ella, the weakest among them.

The erosion body clearly possessed a certain level of intelligence, understanding that Duke was troublesome and couldn’t be taken down quickly.

It also sensed the ancient aura of the elf spirit around Vivian, instinctively wary, and chose Ella, the easiest target among the four.

Although Ella had been at the farthest distance, appearing removed from the battlefield center,

the distance here was inherently short, combined with the erosion body’s swift speed.

This short distance was covered in the blink of an eye.

Leonard, who was closest to Ella, saw this and, in a mix of urgency and anger, rushed over to push Ella aside.

In his haste, he only managed to conjure a shield that appeared quite thick.

Yet, even in its wounded, unstable state, the erosion body’s power far exceeded that of a Level 1 Mage.

Riiip!

The erosion body’s claws ripped through Leonard’s shield defense like paper, slashing deeply into his chest.

Leonard let out a heart-wrenching scream as deep, bone-exposing wounds appeared on his chest, the surrounding flesh turning black as if corroded by poison.

His body flew back like a broken sack, hitting the ground heavily, blood gushing out, instantly losing combat ability.

"Brother!" Ella cried out in a heart-breaking scream.

Duke reacted quickly; as soon as the erosion body lunged, he summoned large amounts of yellow sand around.

When the erosion body changed target, Duke saw it and extended numerous sands, though he wasn’t in time to save Leonard.

He saved Leonard only to save himself; if Leonard and Ella died, they’d likely be devoured by the erosion body.

The erosion body, already heavily injured by the Light Judgment, couldn’t be allowed to recover.

This was an erosion body comparable to Level 2 Life; if it were to recover, they would face certain death.

Although the yellow sand failed to save Leonard immediately, it formed a yellow sand barrier blocking the erosion body’s follow-up claw strike.

The metal yellow sand, which had recently absorbed Sea Heart Iron and Duke’s magic power along with the energy on the claw, became incredibly sturdy.

The claws only penetrated ten centimeters into the sand, unable to go further.

The erosion body then turned, lunging back at Duke, still incredibly fast, but blocked by the yellow sand.

The situation remained dire as both Duke and Vivian observed the erosion body’s injuries quickly recovering.

The surrounding environment, filled with resentment and erosion energy, was being absorbed and utilized by the erosion body.

Its injuries visibly healed, and the light attribute energy within was being gradually dispersed.

If allowed to continue developing like this, it wouldn’t take long for it to regain peak condition. At that point, it was uncertain if Duke’s sand could withstand the erosion body’s attacks.

More importantly, Duke could merely defend, unable to inflict effective damage on the erosion body.

Even another Light Judgment couldn’t guarantee a hit.

This erosion body had some wisdom; it wouldn’t just stand still like at the bottom of a well.

With its current speed, Duke couldn’t confidently use Light Judgment to hit it again.

Thus, the current dilemma was urgent: they must eliminate it before it fully recovered, without a moment to lose.

Every passing second intensified the danger for Duke and his companions.

"I might be able to control it for a moment," Vivian suddenly sent a message through her spiritual power.

Duke had formed some ideas and replied, "Take action!"
