"The total amount would be $24,340. How would you like to make the payment, sir?" the cashier asked James — when he got to the payment desk — , sporting the usual customer friendly smile on her face.

"In cash. Here's my card," James replied, and gave her his debit card.

Laila, who was standing beside him, was very surprised when she saw this. She felt that she might be hearing things wrong as there's no way that the James she knew, the same James, who is Leslie's brother, would be able to afford to pay for a car of almost $24,000 in cash. It was just impossible.

But the next moment, she was shocked to her bones by what the cashier said.

"Payment successful. We will begin processing the necessary documents immediately. Please, let us know if there's anything else you need."

"Thank you. Please, be quick with processing the documents, I have somewhere to be very soon," James said, and the cashier nodded, before turning to walk to the white door behind her.

After she had left, James left the desk and walked to car he just bought, not bothering to pay any attention to Laila, who was looking at him with a stunned expression on her face.

The documents of the car were still being processed, but that doesn't mean that he can't touch it.

Laila was irritated when she saw James walk to the car, without saying anything to her. As the person that attended to him, she expected him to at least say something, but all he did was to just walk away.

She found everything that just happened to be very strange. She knew Leslie's family very well and she knew just how poor they are. So, how was it possible that James was able to easily purchase a car of $24,000?

"Did something good happen to them? Like win the lottery or something?" She asked herself in a low voice.

She felt that this was the only way that James could had gotten such amount of money to spend easily.

"If that is the case, then the money must be a lot for him to take such amount to buy a car. I must get close to him. I might be able to get something for myself. Hehehe." She smiled deviously and licked her lips.

She adjusted her dress, used her phone to make sure that her make-up was in perfect condition, and after making sure that she was perfect and set to go, she started wiggle walking to James.

She was about to get to him, when the cashier's voice was heard, calling James.

"Mr James, te documents are ready," she said, as she walked towards him, with a man holding something in his hand, following behind her.

"So fast?" James was surprised. And the same was Laila.

The processing of car's documents are usually long, and for James' case, it would take 2-6 weeks, but hearing that James wants to be somewhere, and wants to use the car immediately, they decided to provide a temporary plate for him.

The cashier and the man walked towards James. When they got to him, the man walked to the back of the car and started fixing something on its trunk.

James was curious about what the man was doing and he looked at the cashier, who explaining everything to him, causing him to nod in satisfaction.

"Nice and convenient," he said in approval.

"I'm glad you are satisfied. You can drop your address with us and we will send you the permanent plates and the official registration documents when they are out," the cashier said, and James nodded.

He collected a piece of paper and a pen from her, and wrote his address on it. After that, the cashier handed the car key to him, with the smile still on her face.

James gladly collected the keys and turned to look at the car, hoping for the man fixing the temporary plate to be done quickly.

He didn't have to wait long as the man stood up the next moment and nodded at him. He opened the door and slowly got into the car, and took his seat.

He didn't immediately start the car as he ran his hand on the leather seat he was on, and slowly traced his hand to the dashboard and the steering wheel.

James gripped the steering wheel tightly, smiling, before slowly bringing one of his fingers to the ignition button, and pressing it.

The car's engine came to life and the indicators lit up immediately, displaying the information they were meant to display.

James smiled from ear to ear when he saw all this. He couldn't describe the feelings in his heart at the moment.

He made sure that the car was in park and brought his leg down, and stepped on the gas, causing the car to rev.

James laughed happily when he heard the beautiful and melodious sound of the engine, roaring at the top of its voice.

"Time to take this baby out," he said, as he turned the steering wheel and started driving out of the dealership, leaving the three staffs behind.

After James had left, Laila, who was previously stunned by the dashing looks of James as he held the steering wheel, quickly composed herself and brought out her phone.

She dialled a number on her face and the call was picked on the third ring.

"Hey, you won't believe who I just saw and what just happened," she said to the person on the other side, immediately the call was picked.

James drove through the street of LA with a smile on his face. As he drove past the pedestrians and other cars on the road, a sweet feeling swelled up inside of him.

The feeling a man gets when he drives his first ride and a new one at that, was unbeatable.

James felt like he was on cloud nine at the moment, and he doesn't want the feeling to stop.

He remembered the time Patty forced him to go to driving classes when he reached 18 years. Then, he had felt that it was a waste as there was no car that be would be driving after he got his driver's licence, but look at him now. He now have the car to put his driving skills to the test.

"Time to go shopping," James said, as he made his way to the commercial street in LA.
