You Will Only Be Mine-Chapter 467: Mount
The rest of the classes went as usual, aside from the fact that the three were now bombarding the chat with texts rather than trying to approach me. I looked at the messages, and a little smile formed on my face, which caught Ai’s attention between classes since she teleports from her seat to mine after each class. It has to be one of her abilities; I refuse to believe it. Did Akira teach her this? Anyway, we were now staying back after class, waiting for Sensei to come teach us. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"You look rather happy staring at the screen," Ai said, pouting at me. "Wait, don’t tell me it’s ano- "
"If it’s not Ai, no one else can capture my heart," I said, cutting her off before she went off and thought of something absurd. "It’s just my trip group; they are messaging in the group chat."
"What are they talking about?" she asked, peeking into my phone as I tilted it to show her. "What do horses have to do with the trip?"
"Someone brought up a fact about a famous racehorse," I explained, and she looked at me, confused. "Conversations can sidetrack, you know. Though I do like it this way."
"Those names...those are the guys who were trying to approach between each class!" Ai exclaimed, and I looked at narrowing my eyes. This girl was doing this all the while knowing that fact.
"Since they are all great friends and didn’t want me to feel so isolated, they wanted to include me too," I said.
"Oh..." Ai muttered. "I thought their intentions weren’t the best."
"Why do you say that?"
"Kobayashi-kun and Nakamura-kun got suspended for a week at the start of the year because they got into a fight. It’s not really their first offence either, so many people tend to avoid those two except for Tanaka-kun," Ai explained. "I just didn’t want Kazu-kun to get into any trouble because of them."
"I can understand Ai, but as far as I can tell, they are good guys, and it’s not like I will not be able to hold myself up against them if they do mean any funny business," I said, slowly grabbing her hand. "No need to worry, I will be fine."
"I know..." she said and went over to my seat, sitting in my lap. "But I want to make sure there are zero chances of you getting wrapped up in anything even mildly dangerous at all."
She rested her head against my shoulder and caressed her hair. She has gotten more overprotective of me, though she tries not to show it most times. I can’t say I didn’t expect this to happen, but I had to make sure not to keep her worried about me so much all the time.
"If anything were to happen, you will be the first person I will call for," I whispered in her ear.
"You promise?" she asked, and I placed a little kiss on her cheek.
"I promise," I said and hugged her tightly.
"Do you both want me to kill you?" We heard a voice from behind Ai and turned to see Sensei standing at the door, looking annoyed by this public display of affection. "I will give you three seconds before I turn you into vampire juice."
Ai quickly got off my lap and sat down in her seat. Sensei walked in and placed her register on the podium, glaring at us. She is in a better mood than on most days. By now, I would probably have gotten hit on the head, but it seems like the food is helping. I will make even more for her every single morning.
She opened her register and started teaching us while we diligently noted them down. Another thing I am always surprised by is just how good a teacher she is. Her points are clear, she is always open to questions, and extremely patient when it comes to making sure we understand everything she is trying to teach us. I really admired these traits of hers. If only she were less violent when she is not in teacher mode, she would be perfect.
"What did you just say?" She gave me a cold stare.
"Sensei is perfect in every sense and I am so grateful for having her in my life," I said, raising my hand and bowing to her. This isn’t intuition anymore. She can basically read my mind.
"Did you meet up with your trip group?" she asked me, and I nodded. "Good, they are good kids. I hope you get along with them."
"But, didn’t they get into fights often?" Ai asked out of concern, and Sensei let out a sigh.
"They are a pain to deal with, but I can’t bring myself to see those kids be punished for doing the right things," she explained. "Every single time they did get into fights, it’s mostly either self-defence or standing up for others. Their way of going about it is rather violent, but it would be hypocritical to say that I don’t share their sentiment. They’re lucky I am their homeroom teacher and make sure they don’t get harsher punishments."
"That’s the Sensei we know and love," I cheered, and she brushed me off. "Come on, take the compliment. Don’t be like that now. I am not just throwing mere flattery here."
"Are you a hundred percent sure?" she narrowed her eyes at me and a sweat drop my head. "Okay, maybe a little."
"I will not go easy on today’s training," she said, and I dropped my head in defeat. My death is set in stone now. Might as well get to making my headstone.
The lessons went as normal, and my phone kept vibrating from time to time. Probably the group chat. Sensei left the classroom to pack up her stuff, and we did the same. Walking out of the class and towards the school entrance, we went over to where she had parked her car, waiting for her to arrive. By now, only a select few students were around and some teachers, so it was rather quiet even outside. Looking at the school being so quiet always feels so liminal in a way. It adds a bit of excitement to walking around the entire structure.
I looked at my phone to see more messages, mostly from Tanaka and Nakamura, since I’m sure Kobayashi was in the middle of practice at this time. It would be about time for him to leave the practice to head home, so I thought we might bump into him. The teacher’s parking is a little close to the basketball court.
"What are they talking about now?" Ai asked, leaning over, looking at my phone.
"Not quite sure, I just looked at the conversation. I think they are just talking between themselves. Ah, looks like Nakamura found a rock on the way," I said, opening the image of the rock Nakamura was holding in his hand. "It does look like the perfect shape to skip on water."
"Isn’t this group for talking about the trip?" she asked, and I shrugged my shoulders. I didn’t really mind this. It was nice to just read their conversations and sometimes give my input. "The rock does look very smooth for being able to be found on the riverside."
"Exactly," I said, and we just watched the two talk for a while.
I could hear a set of footsteps walking in our direction, and we looked up to see that around the corner, Kobayashi’s figure stood out. As soon as his eyes landed on us, he had a giant smile on his face and started running in our direction. He had a jacket on along with his shorts, and I could clearly see the sweat from his brow still not dried out.
"Hey, Shiba, what are you doing here with Tsubaki-san?" he said and quickly got quiet and closer. "I didn’t interrupt anything, right?"
"No, you didn’t. How was the practice?" I asked, and he smirked proudly, puffing out his chest.
"Great as ever," he said and beamed a giant smile in our direction. "We tried to talk to you many times during class, but Tsubaki-san always beat us to it, so we didn’t have much of a chance to, so I was wondering if you want to hang out with the others someday?"
"Sure, I’m down for it. Just text the time and place in the group," I said, and he looked satisfied. He waved at us and walked away towards the bike stand. "I’ll let you two be now. See you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow," we both replied to him and saw as he quickly got his bicycle out of the stands and raced it out of the school.
"Is he the way you imagined he would have been?" I asked Ai.
"No, it’s good. For him," she said, smiling back at me and clinging onto my arm.
We then proceeded to get death stares from anyone who came to that side, followed by a little scolding from Sensei.
