You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 149- she would have her revenge
Burg Eltz,
University Faculty Housing.
In her room, Clark stared at the intimate photos of Dave and Laurent that had been sent to her—one after another. The final image, of them together as a family of three, sent a surge of rage through her, twisting her once-beautiful face into a hideous grimace.
Her fingers dug tightly into the mouse beside her, gripping it so hard she nearly crushed it, using this small act of destruction to vent the jealousy that was consuming her from the inside out.
Yes, the place Clark was in now was her parents’ home.
Both of her parents were university professors, and she was their only daughter. They had always been kind and well-respected people. Clark didn’t even understand how she had ended up like this. Once upon a time, she had been the cherished pride of her parents, adored by teachers and classmates alike—a golden girl blessed with everything.
And yet, years later, she had become something neither fully human nor fully monstrous.
Once, she and Dave had been a match made in heaven. Back in school, they had been the most admired couple—he, a campus legend; she, the belle of the art department. When they walked together, they were nothing but perfect for each other.
Her life had been supposed to go smoothly—study abroad, return home, marry Dave, become the distinguished young mistress of Burg Eltz, and ascend effortlessly into high society.
But everything had been destroyed the year the Washington family was thrown into turmoil.
Because of that disaster, Dave abandoned his plans to go abroad with her and instead stayed to take over Washington Corporation.
That year, she had gone overseas alone—where she met Bert, where she was seduced, where she was deceived.
Later, because of the choice Daniel had forced upon Dave, between Washington Corporation and her, she had been the one cast aside. And from that moment, she had been plunged into the living hell that was Bert’s world, suffering a fate worse than death.
She hated them.
She hated everyone involved in that event.
She hated Daniel. She hated Bert. She hated Laurent.
And she hated Dave.
She hated him for abandoning her and choosing Washington Corporation. She hated how easily he had fallen in love with Laurent.
She hated him for constantly telling her he never wanted to be Washington Corporation’s heir, leading her to pin all her hopes on Bert instead.
She had become what she was today, and none of them were innocent.
So, she would have her revenge.
She would make each of them experience the same pain and suffering she had endured.
As for why she was now at her parents’ house—it was because, just a few days ago, a group of men had stormed into the villa she had been living in—Dave’s villa—and forcibly evicted her.
She had protested in fury, only to be told that the order had come from Dave himself.
One of the men even relayed his exact words:
"Lord Washington advises you to know when to stop. Lord Washington also says—he misjudged you."
Clark had nearly lost her mind.
She refused to believe that those words had come from Dave.
She refused to believe that he was truly the one who had cast her out.
Desperate, she had immediately called his phone.
No one answered.
And to this day, she had never dialed his number again.
Later, she carefully reconsidered the two sentences the messenger had relayed to her, speculating that Dave might have suspected her involvement in the rumors about Laurent’s defamation.
It was because Maggie had sent her a photo of Dave picking Laurent up from the factory, along with details of how Dave had gone out of his way to defend Laurent at the factory gate—clearly, he was quietly clearing Laurent’s name and denying the rumors about her being abandoned or divorced.
Clark had felt a wave of panic, but after a moment, she regained her composure. There was no evidence linking her to the spread of those rumors. She refused to admit anything.
As for being kicked out of the villa and having her private caretaker removed, she figured that was Dave’s warning to her.
Clark sneered coldly. Fine, if he wanted to warn her, she would retreat and rest. But after this, everything she had suffered would be repaid to them, doubled.
He said he misjudged her?
What exactly did he think he had misjudged?
Who was the real villain from the start, anyway?
After dropping their daughter off at Tiffany’s and exchanging a few words, Dave and Laurent bid farewell and left. They got into the car, and Laurent turned to Dave,
"I think I’ll go get my hair done."
Since there was still plenty of time before the dinner, Laurent thought she could freshen up with a new hairstyle, feeling it would be a respectful gesture towards the Browns.
Dave agreed with her, as he had already scheduled an appointment with a stylist for her. He also planned to take her shopping for a few new outfits, since she had mentioned that many of the clothes at home were too tight and no longer fit. So, he drove her straight to the destination.
The car eventually stopped in front of a luxurious styling salon, and Laurent, seeing the name "Show" on the sign, turned to Dave, shocked.
"I just want to get my hair done. Why bring me to such an upscale place?"
As a woman who cared about beauty and fashion, Laurent was, of course, familiar with "Show." It was a branch of the famous fashion mogul Tina’s salon, located in Burg Eltz.
Actually, now Tina was known nationwide, and her influence extended far beyond A.T. She had opened several branches in various cities, and Burg Eltz was one of them.
Every year, Tina would visit the branches for inspections and guidance, and whenever she did, the place would be flooded with clients.
Laurent looked again at the full parking lot outside the salon, and through the floor-to-ceiling windows, she could see the sofas inside, packed with people waiting. She wondered if Tina might be here today.
Dave, however, didn’t seem surprised.
"You can still get your hair done here."
He got out of the car first, but Laurent remained seated, unwilling to get out.
"Maybe we shouldn’t do it here. We could just find some random place..."
She felt inexplicably nervous, especially thinking about the possibility of meeting Tina—such a dazzling woman. Just the thought of it made her feel uneasy, let alone being close to her.
Laurent admired Tina—her life was glamorous, her beauty undeniable. She, too, wanted to be a woman like that, but she wasn’t sure if she had what it took.
Dave opened the car door for her and stood outside, watching her with a helpless expression.
"Do you want me to carry you in front of all these people?"
When Laurent imagined all the prominent socialites and wealthy wives inside, and then thought about being carried in by him in front of them, she was so startled that she immediately got out of the car.
However, once she got out, Dave led her around to a side door, bypassing the main entrance. Laurent was livid. So, it turns out they didn’t have to use the front door after all? And yet, he had just scared her like that.
Ugh, this man...
