You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 195- Not a good idea
After looking around a few houses, Laurent took her daughter straight to a furniture store for shopping. They carefully selected everything, and by the time they finished, it was already midday. Since the store was close to Adeline’s nail salon, Laurent decided to have lunch with Adeline and her daughter. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
In the afternoon, the mother and daughter stayed home waiting for the furniture delivery. After the delivery and installation, Laurent, being the type who couldn’t sit still and felt uneasy seeing a messy home, cleaned up the entire house until every corner shone brightly.
While she was busy with these chores, her daughter fell asleep, exhausted. The winter sunlight streamed through the large windows, filling the room with warmth. Laurent felt incredibly content in this peaceful, fulfilling moment.
She went to the bedroom, kissed her daughter’s sleeping face, and then got back to work.
After a busy day, exhausted, Laurent still had to go out for dinner with Leonardo and the others. She called her mother to let her know she wouldn’t be coming home that evening since she had a place to stay now.
Her little girl had napped for half the afternoon, and when she woke up, Laurent asked her if she wanted to go to Lady Tiffany’s place or join her for dinner with friends. After thinking for a moment, the girl chose to go to Lady Tiffany’s, mostly because she was looking forward to watching cartoons.
Laurent respected her choice. After tidying up, she called Tiffany, letting her know about the dinner plans and asking if she could look after her daughter for the evening.
Tiffany quickly agreed. When Laurent dropped her daughter off, she took a gift from the trunk for Tiffany: an elegant shawl, perfect for winter. She wanted to thank Tiffany for looking after her daughter since their divorce.
Tiffany, touched by her thoughtfulness, didn’t know what to say. She simply thanked Laurent and accepted the gift.
Laurent told her daughter she would pick her up after dinner, said goodbye to Tiffany, and left.
When Laurent arrived at the restaurant Leonardo had mentioned, it was a Western-style dining place. However, upon entering the private room, she found that only Leonardo was there. Laurent frowned.
"Don’t tell me it’s just the two of us for dinner tonight?"
Leonardo leaned back in his chair with a smile.
"Is that a problem?"
Laurent walked over and sat down without hesitation.
"No problem. Old classmates, old friends having a meal together, what could be the problem?"
Her mention of "old classmates, old friends" immediately severed any romantic thoughts Leonardo had in his mind.
His smile faded, and he protested with dissatisfaction.
"What else can you do other than annoy me?"
Laurent laughed carefree.
"When did I annoy you? You’re just too sensitive."
It had been over half a year since Laurent last saw Dave, and she hadn’t seen Leonardo either, but she’d seen him plenty on TV—advertisements, TV shows, and attending various events. He was constantly in the public eye, so seeing him face-to-face now didn’t feel as awkward.
The moment Laurent walked into the room and saw that only Leonardo was there, she immediately understood his intention. Using Vivian and Frank’s names as an excuse, he had arranged a dinner just for the two of them. So, she quickly shut down his intentions with the term "old classmates, old friends."
She couldn’t understand why, after all this time, Leonardo was still holding onto this idea.
Laurent felt that Leonardo’s attitude was simply a case of "what can’t be had is the best," so she decided to express her thoughts to him directly.
"You know what kind of mentality you have towards me right now?" she asked.
Leonardo raised an eyebrow and looked at her. Laurent smiled.
"What you can’t have is the best!"
Leonardo chuckled, then countered with a question of his own.
"And do you know what kind of mentality you have right now?"
Laurent was puzzled.
"What do you mean?"
Leonardo pointed it out clearly, word by word.
"Love is blind!"
"You’re the one who’s blind, holding onto Dave for so long!" Leonardo said mercilessly, revealing what he truly thought. Laurent felt a little angry.
"When have I been obsessed with him?" she retorted.
Leonardo scoffed.
"Haven’t you? If not, why haven’t you accepted anyone else’s advances? You two have been apart for more than half a year. It’s time for you to start a new life!"
Laurent fumed and defended herself.
"I don’t accept anyone else because I want to focus on my work, not because I can’t forget him!"
What kind of logic was this? Just because she didn’t accept anyone else, did that mean she was still hung up on Dave?
She wasn’t!
How could she possibly still be thinking about Dave?
Leonardo squinted at her for a long moment.
"Since you’re not obsessed with him, how about talking to me then?"
Laurent froze for a moment, and Leonardo continued,
"Didn’t you say my mentality is simply ’what can’t be had is the best’? Then let me have a chance. Let’s start a relationship. If I really lose interest in you once I have you, then you’ll be free, and I won’t bother you anymore."
Laurent asked, irritated,
"And what if you don’t lose interest? Do I have to stay with you forever?"
"What’s wrong with that?" Leonardo replied casually.
"If I’m always interested in you, then we can talk about marriage. We can start a family together—"
"Stop!"
The moment Laurent heard Leonardo talk about marriage and starting a family, she felt a wave of discomfort wash over her, immediately stopping him from continuing.
She couldn’t imagine herself walking down the aisle with another man in a wedding dress. She couldn’t picture herself becoming an intimate partner with someone else.
Leonardo looked at her intently for a moment before taking a sip of his red wine.
"So, what do you think of my suggestion, about us talking?" he asked again.
"Not a good idea!" Laurent shot back firmly.
