You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 220-What a shame.
Laurent’s face was burning, and she couldn’t bring herself to look him in the eye. She lifted her hand to adjust the collar of her sweater, then turned away to grab a towel from the towel rack, running it under the faucet to wash it, trying to hide her flustered emotions.
Behind her, Dave spoke in a hoarse voice:
"Don’t wash it."
"Not wiping...?"
He said it again.
Just unbuttoning his shirt and taking it off had already caused him to lose control like this. If she really helped him wipe his body, who knew how much more difficult it would be for him?
So it was probably better not to do it.
After all, wiping would just make him toss and turn, and not wiping wouldn’t help him sleep either.
Laurent stopped washing the towel and turned to look at him.
"Not wiping... won’t you be able to sleep?"
Dave stared at her deeply.
"Do you think I’d be able to sleep if you wiped me?"
His gaze was too intense. Laurent instantly understood the meaning behind his words. He turned around, flushed, and ran out, throwing the towel aside.
"I should have called for a male nurse instead," he thought.
After Laurent left, Dave was alone in the bathroom, struggling to use his other hand to wipe himself slightly.
As he wiped, he couldn’t help but chuckle bitterly. He had wanted her to do this for him so much, but when it came down to it, he couldn’t handle it. His mind kept calculating how he would devour her once his injury healed, just to relieve the torment he felt at that moment.
The entire night, Laurent and Dave managed to coexist peacefully.
After all, Dave was injured, and since the IV drip contained sedatives, he fell into a deep sleep despite not being fully clean.
On the other hand, Laurent hardly slept that night. She kept getting up to check on him since the IV was still running, and also called a nurse to change the drip.
The next morning, Tiffany arrived early to relieve Laurent so she could go rest.
However, before Laurent could leave, Clark’s parents arrived at the ward.
Clark’s parents were both university professors, so they were educated and reacted more calmly than Maggie’s parents had in the past, who had been hysterical and crying uncontrollably. Still, the sorrow and exhaustion in their expressions were impossible to hide
They brought a bouquet of flowers and some supplements with them.
Dave’s expression towards Clark’s parents wasn’t very pleasant. In fact, Dave had previously respected Clark’s parents quite a lot.
When he was with Clark, he had met Clark’s parents several times and thought they were polite and well-spoken. Part of the reason he maintained his relationship with Clark was also because Clark’s parents treated him well.
However, at that moment, Dave’s mindset was completely different from before. No one could open their heart to the parents of the person who had tried to hurt their beloved woman, especially when that person had ultimately hurt him.
It was Clark’s father who spoke first.
"lord. Washington, we, as parents, are deeply saddened by what has happened, and we are very sorry."
"We didn’t come here to ask for your forgiveness or to plead for our daughter’s release. She made a mistake and should be punished."
Clark’s father spoke with deep sorrow.
"But, Mr. Washington, I ask you, considering that she is our only child, could you possibly show some mercy?"
Clark’s parents had heard from the police about their daughter’s situation and knew that Dave had already put pressure on them to ensure the harshest punishment for their daughter.
They had come to plead for clemency. It seemed that their daughter’s imprisonment was inevitable, but the key to how many years she would serve depended on Dave’s decision.
However, Dave only replied coldly:
"It seems that I don’t have the final say in this matter. She committed a crime, so she should face the punishment that comes with it. That’s the power of the law, isn’t it?"
With that single sentence, it was clear that he wouldn’t show any mercy.
Clark’s father’s eyes could hardly hide the sorrow and disappointment, but there was also a scholarly kind of aloofness in his demeanor. He sighed and spoke again.
"I understand."
Then he added,
"I wish you a speedy recovery. As for the medical expenses, we have already prepared for that."
Clark’s father said, taking a bank card out of his pocket. Dave immediately rejected it.
"There’s no need for the medical expenses. Keep it for some favors, instead."
This statement appeared to be considerate of Clark’s parents, but in reality, it was a subtle hint that Clark would suffer terribly inside.
Clark’s parents’ faces instantly turned pale. Despite their daughter’s shameful mistake, she was still their biological daughter. They were heartbroken, but there was nothing they could do.
Dave’s words made Clark’s parents seem to age several years in an instant.
They didn’t say anything more. Clark’s father, trembling, put the card away and turned to support his wife as they left.
As they turned to leave, Clark’s mother started shedding tears. Clark’s father, while walking, scolded her.
"It’s our fault for not raising her properly! How dare you cry!"
They hadn’t properly raised their daughter; it was both Clark’s father’s and mother’s responsibility. As parents, they were the greatest victims, yet also the greatest failures.
After Clark’s parents left, Tiffany sighed with regret.
"What a shame."
When Dave and Clark were still in a relationship, Tiffany had seen Clark once or twice, but not in a formal setting. Dave had never properly introduced Clark to them. It was during one of Tiffany’s visits to Dave’s school to discuss something when she saw her, from a distance.
At the time, she thought Clark was a quiet, artistic girl with a certain grace. Who could have guessed that she would become such a sinister and vicious woman?
However, discussing Clark in this moment was not appropriate, as Laurent was still present. Dave glanced at his mother, and Tiffany immediately realized her mistake. She had only spoken out of feeling, but as a mother herself, she could understand the heartache. Seeing Clark end up like this hurt her deeply.
She hoped that her own daughter, when she encountered love in the future, would be able to see things more clearly and not become so obsessive.
