You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 242- all clearly
He softly coaxed her for a moment before picking her up and carrying her into the house. He originally thought she was just saying things casually and that she would fall asleep again after speaking. However, after placing her on the bed, she immediately turned over and sat up, looking at him with drunken, blurry eyes and asked,
"My drink?"
Dave had no idea how to deal with her. He went down to the first-floor wine cabinet and brought up a bottle of red wine. They were renting a villa, which was fully stocked with everything, and all the items were high-end luxury goods, so there was no shortage of alcohol.
After opening it, he poured her a glass. She tilted her head back and drank it all, then took a moment to savor it.
"This wine is good."
Only then was she satisfied and tossed herself back onto the large bed, falling into a deep sleep.
Dave shook his head helplessly. He went over to help her take off her clothes so she could sleep more comfortably. Afterward, he took a shower, wrapped himself in a bathrobe, and sat on the soft couch in the room, drinking by himself while keeping an eye on the woman on the bed.
She had drunk too much, and he wasn’t sure if she would wake up in the middle of the night and feel nauseous.
The night was very quiet, and as he sipped his wine, his heart was also calm.
He had never felt this at peace before. The woman he loved was right there beside him, within reach. She had gotten drunk in front of him, losing all sense of herself, and it was because she trusted him completely.
This feeling made him feel content.
Fortunately, Laurent slept soundly the entire night without any symptoms of vomiting from the alcohol. The only time she moved was in the middle of the night when she restlessly turned over and kicked the thin blanket off.
Dave watched over her the whole night. When the sky began to lighten, he climbed into the bed and pulled her into his arms, falling into a deep sleep.
Around noon, Laurent woke up and struggled to get out of bed.
Rubbing her eyes, she looked around the room. Everything from the previous night, starting from when she had come out of the bar and squatted by the car, accusing Dave of being a liar, was completely a blur. As for how she got back or what she said or did afterward, she had no memory of it.
For the first time in her life, she had drunk so much that she blacked out.
She felt a little frightened. Luckily, she was with Dave. Otherwise, she would have had no ability to resist or even know what happened if someone else had taken advantage of her.
Turning around, she looked at the man still soundly asleep beside her and couldn’t help but smile with some relief.
She wasn’t someone without self-control, but because she was with Dave, she felt safe enough to drink herself into a blackout.
The man was sleeping deeply, with dark circles under his eyes, likely from staying up too late.
Laurent glanced at the low table beside the soft couch. On it, there was a bottle of red wine, now empty. She couldn’t help but sigh. Could he have stayed up all night watching over her without sleeping?
Having been married to him for five years, Laurent knew that Dave was a light sleeper. With his temperament, if she had gotten up now, he would have already sensed it and woken up.
Yet he was still sleeping deeply, meaning he was really exhausted.
Laurent felt a bit annoyed. Why had she insisted on having alcohol like a madwoman last night, making both of them end up in such a state?
Not only did she have a headache now, but he had stayed up the entire night too.
Sigh, what was the deal with him staying up all night? If she had been feeling unwell in the middle of the night, she could have just called him.
However, what she might not know was that Dave knew how unpleasant being drunk could feel. He wanted to be by her side as soon as she felt unwell, to take care of her, which was why he stayed up all night watching over her.
Laurent leaned over and gave him a light kiss on the cheek. But then she felt unsatisfied, so she kissed him on the lips instead. Afterward, she got up quietly and tiptoed downstairs to make some food.
He had stayed with her all night, so she was happy to prepare a meal for him, both as a thank-you and an expression of her care for him.
Not wanting to disturb his rest, Laurent took her clothes and carefully went downstairs to the bathroom to freshen up, then opened the fridge to check the ingredients and started preparing the meal.
The advantage of staying in a detached villa was that there was private space, just like being at home, and she could even cook.
After Laurent went downstairs, Dave on the big bed slightly opened his eyes, then pulled the blanket closer and fell back into a deep sleep.
In fact, he had woken up the moment she kissed his cheek, but he pretended to be asleep on purpose.
It seemed there were benefits to pretending to sleep, such as getting a kiss on the lips and having her prepare lunch for him.
The saying "living by the water means eating seafood" applied perfectly here, as seafood was in no short supply. So, Laurent made a big seafood feast and called Dave to come eat. The two of them leisurely enjoyed a delicious lunch.
However, Laurent ate little, still feeling the discomfort from the previous night’s drunkenness and lacking much of an appetite.
Dave grunted lightly.
"Are you ever going to drink again?"
Laurent slouched back into her chair.
"I never want to drink again for the rest of my life."
Dave gave her a skeptical glance, clearly not believing her. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Laurent laughed at herself. After all, she still had to work, and in social situations, she would inevitably have to drink a little. But she absolutely wouldn’t let herself get drunk to the point of blacking out like she did last night.
Drinking too much was painful for herself, and the people around her suffered too—like him last night.
At the thought, she felt a little guilty.
"Thank you for last night, for staying with me the whole time."
Dave was silent for a while, eating his meal before responding with a soft tone.
"When I was drunk before, didn’t you take care of me the same way?"
During the years of their marriage, when he got drunk, she had always taken care of him meticulously—giving him hangover soup, hangover medicine, pouring him water to drink when he was thirsty from alcohol, or supporting him as he stumbled to the bathroom in the middle of the night to vomit.
He remembered it all clearly.
