You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 246-Second child?
Laurent handed the floor plan back to Dave and sincerely suggested,
"Well, it’s your house, so it’s up to you. You can decide where to buy it and what to do with it."
Although Dave asked her for input, Laurent felt she wasn’t the one paying for the house, so she didn’t want to offer too many opinions.
In fact, Laurent did want to buy a house with her own money, but her current financial situation wasn’t enough to afford one. She hoped that as her clients and commissions increased in the future, she’d be able to buy one for herself, at least to give her a sense of security.
She reached out, picking up her daughter from Dave’s lap and gently said to her,
"Mommy will take you for a bath now."
The little girl cheerfully agreed, and Laurent carried her off to the bathroom.
Dave put the floor plan away. Well, if she didn’t want to choose, then fine. When it came time for the renovations, he’d let her handle everything. After all, she had such high standards for quality and detail in life. He was certain she’d decorate the house beautifully and warmly.
For him, the home they’d build with her personal touch would be their true home.
After bathing her daughter, Laurent spent some time coaxing the little girl to sleep. The little one rolled around on the big bed for a while, finally settling down after Laurent read her a few stories and fairy tales.
Laurent, feeling drowsy herself, left the bedroom to wash up. But as soon as she stepped out of the room, someone lifted her up, and the person hurriedly carried her into the adjacent bedroom, the urgency and impatience in their actions unmistakable.
Laurent struggles with shame.
"I haven’t showered yet..."
The man above her seemed somewhat crestfallen. After biting her lip hard, he rolled off her, lying on his side, gasping for breath, and letting her go.
"Go on."
Pleasure was certainly on the line, but hygiene was more important.
Dave had finished his shower and gotten everything ready long before Laurent had put her daughter to bed. Now, with some freedom, Laurent hurriedly got up and went to the bathroom, her face inevitably burning as she thought about what would happen next while she was in the shower.
Since their return from holiday, they had both been busy with their own things over the past few days. At night, they had each gone back to their own places and hadn’t spent any time together, so there had been no intimacy at all.
Based on her understanding of Dave, Laurent knew that after so many days apart, he would most likely stay up late again.
However, what Laurent did not expect was that someone was so impatient that he could not even wait for her to finish her shower. As soon as she entered the bathroom, he followed her in, not giving her a moment of peace. Annoyed, she tried to hide herself, but he wrapped his arms around her soft waist, kissing her lingeringly—her lips, her wet body—until she gave up resisting and allowed him to hold her waist, letting him do whatever he wanted.
Afterward, the two of them went to the big bed. The bathroom had already left Laurent’s legs feeling weak, and when they reached the bed, she had no strength left. She could only bite her lip to stop herself from making noise, worried her daughter in the next room might hear. She kept begging him to be gentler.
A night of passion and allure.
The next day, if Laurent hadn’t been thinking about taking her daughter back home to visit her parents, she would have just wanted to sleep in.
When the alarm went off in the morning, Laurent stayed there, refusing to get up. Her legs were sore, after all.
Dave, pressing up behind her, wrapped his arms around her and spoke softly:
"How about I drive you both back?"
Dave knew she was exhausted from the night before, so he offered to be the driver. But the real reason was that if she and her daughter were going back to the small town for the weekend, he would be left with nothing to do.
He wanted to be with them. Right now, they were his entire world.
"Please don’t," Laurent immediately rejected. If her father saw him, he would probably explode with anger.
Though Dave knew her father didn’t like him, being rejected so directly still didn’t sit well with him. He turned her head toward him and kissed her lips forcefully, as if to vent his frustration.
In the end, Laurent didn’t let Dave drive them; she took her daughter back to the small town herself.
Her parents were happy to see them. Since her trip to Burg Eltz, this was her first time coming home. The last time her parents visited A.T. to see the injured Dave, they only stood in the hospital room for a brief moment, and there was barely any communication between them.
While Laurent chatted with her mother, Alex played with Emma nearby, but it was clear that Alex wasn’t focused on spending time with the little girl. He kept eavesdropping on Laurent and her mother’s conversation.
Laurent knew what her father meant and smiled, speaking up first:
"Dad, he’s been really good to me."
Her father just wanted to know if she had been mistreated or taken advantage of during her trip with Dave and whether things were going well between them.
Alex snorted.
"Really good? He’s in the stage of pursuing you now. He’ll do anything to please you, pretending to be perfect. But once you’re back together, who knows? He might just go back to ignoring you like before."
Alex had seen Dave act so cold and distant in the past that he couldn’t believe Dave could truly treat his daughter well. He couldn’t even imagine what it would look like for Dave to treat her kindly or lovingly, and so he didn’t believe Laurent’s words.
Laurent understood her father’s feelings. She had once been unable to imagine what it would be like for Dave to love, care for, and spoil her, but now, she was experiencing it firsthand.
So, Laurent just smiled and didn’t say anything. It was Cassy, however, who glared at Alex in dissatisfaction.
"What exactly do you mean? Do you want her to break up with him or something?"
In Cassy’s mind, ever since Dave had taken a knife for her daughter, she had completely accepted him as a person.
Laurent and Dave were clearly meant to be.
Alex, taken aback by Cassy’s glare, turned his gaze away and denied her accusation.
"I didn’t say they should break up."
"What I mean is, if she still likes him and has feelings for him, then they can just keep seeing each other for now. Let’s see how long he can keep up the act!"
Alex’s tone was firm.
"He might manage it for a year or two, but there’s no way he’ll keep up the charade for three or five years!"
Cassy was furious.
"So you’re saying you want her to waste time with him for three or five years?"
Alex dismissed her concern.
"What’s wrong with that?"
"After all, she’s already married him once. We don’t care about the title or formality. Let’s just test him. Keep testing him until she feels he’s really worthy of committing to for life, and then they can remarry."
Alex blurted out his thoughts all at once. Cassy was so angry she almost lost her temper.
"Absurd!"
After throwing that insult at Alex, she quickly countered.
"So, if they wait three or five years to remarry, what about their second child?"
"Second child?"
Alex was momentarily confused. He had been so focused on making sure Laurent tested Dave properly that he hadn’t considered the issue of a second child.
"If they wait three or five years, our daughter will be over thirty. Having a second child at that age is risky."
Men and women think very differently. Alex was focused on his daughter’s future happiness, while Cassy was concerned about continuing the family line and having children.
