You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 245- remarry?
Laurent felt a bit awkward, after all, Daniel was their elder. She glanced at Dave and noticed his brow was slightly furrowed.
Their daughter ran out from behind them, hugged Laurent’s leg, and quietly asked,
"Mom, is Lord and Lady Tiffany going to get divorced too? Lady Tiffany hasn’t lived with Lord for such a long time..."
Ever since Dave and Laurent divorced, their daughter had been living with Tiffany, and Tiffany had been living outside, never returning to Burg Eltz. The little girl had keenly sensed something, though she couldn’t fully understand it.
Today, seeing Lord and Lady Tiffany being unpleasant in front of everyone, she had more or less figured something out.
Laurent felt a pang of discomfort upon hearing her daughter’s words.
The two generations had both experienced divorces. Would this affect their daughter’s view on relationships in the future?
Of course, what they didn’t know was that their actions had already cast a shadow over a certain young woman who had already reached adulthood, causing her to decide to remain a staunch believer in not marrying.
No marriage, no love, no hurt.
After returning from their vacation, Laurent and Dave went back to their regular routines at work. When Laurent went to report to Matthew, he jokingly asked her,
"When are you going to invite me to your wedding?"
Dave had personally called Matthew to ask for time off, so Matthew was certainly aware of the entanglements between Laurent and Dave.
Laurent felt a bit embarrassed by Matthew’s question,
"Matthew, please don’t tease me. I haven’t thought that far ahead yet."
Even if she and Dave got remarried, they definitely wouldn’t throw a big celebration or invite anyone. Getting remarried wasn’t something to be flaunted.
Besides, she and Dave had just started again, and the idea of remarriage wasn’t something she was ready to consider yet.
To her, the most important thing was that she and Dave were genuinely in love now, and matters of titles or public acknowledgment didn’t matter that much anymore. At the moment, she was more focused on her work.
On the weekend, Laurent took her daughter to visit her parents. She had bought them gifts during the trip, so she decided to deliver them in person.
Dave stayed over at Laurent’s on Friday night. Since they returned from their trip, they had been so busy that they hadn’t seen each other much. Except for one lunch when Dave met Laurent, the two hadn’t had much time together, and so, on Friday, Dave canceled all his social obligations to pick up Laurent from work and pick up their daughter from school.
Dave was a bit frustrated. Returning to Burg Eltz didn’t feel the same as being on the trip. During the trip, they were together every day, but now, after returning, they were both so busy, it felt like they hadn’t seen each other for days.
Laurent had some things to take care of, but when Dave called to say he was coming to pick her up from work, she realized they hadn’t seen each other in a while. Since her tasks weren’t urgent, she decided to put them aside for the time being and left work on time.
After picking up their daughter from preschool, Dave drove to Laurent’s office, arriving just in time for her to finish work.
Laurent’s car had been sent for maintenance after the trip, so Dave took their daughter with him to pick it up. The three of them then went to the market to buy ingredients. Laurent decided to cook a nice meal to make up for the time she had neglected them. Afterward, Laurent picked up the car, and the three of them finally headed home together.
When they returned home, it was to Laurent’s place.
For Dave, home was wherever Laurent was. He didn’t care whether her place was small or the apartment old.
The reason Laurent had insisted on staying at Adeline’s was twofold: one, she didn’t want to live with Dave just yet, and two, she felt Adeline’s place was conveniently located, only about fifteen minutes by car from her office.
If she moved back to Villas, it would be farther away, around a half-hour drive. Everyone in Burg Eltz knew that in a big city, the worst time of the day was during the rush-hour traffic in the mornings and evenings.
If the commute to work was longer and there was traffic, she would waste her morning hours just stuck on the road.
Once, Laurent had mentioned this issue to Dave. At the time, he hadn’t said much, simply telling her, "It’s up to you. Live wherever you want."
Their daughter was happy, as she now got to spend time with both her parents, and they no longer interacted coldly or confrontationally with each other. It was a harmonious atmosphere, and she loved it.
The little girl clung to Laurent and then to Dave, switching between the two.
After dinner, she stayed nestled in Dave’s arms, not wanting to get up, asking him to play with her. Laurent finished tidying up the kitchen and came out to see the father and daughter enjoying their time on the sofa together.
She stood from a distance for a moment, watching. This was the warm scene she had always longed for, and now, it had finally come true.
After walking over, Dave beckoned her to sit beside him and then pulled out a floor plan to show her.
"Take a look at this house. What do you think?"
Laurent took the floor plan, looking at it with confusion, and asked,
"Are you buying a house?"
Dave nodded and replied,
"I want to buy a new house near your company. It’ll be more convenient for you to commute, and you won’t have to live in someone else’s place anymore."
"This location is great. It’s close to your company, not far from mine, and it’s also convenient for Emma’s school."
Dave explained to Laurent why he had chosen this place, but Laurent furrowed her brow as she listened.
"Didn’t we say we’re not living together for now? Why are you in such a rush to buy a house?"
Although she was touched that he was thinking of her and buying a house near her company, she still felt it was a bit too soon. There was no need to rush into such decisions. She felt that the way they were currently interacting was working well for them. After all, they only saw each other every few days, which made their time together feel even more precious and fulfilling. She really enjoyed their current dynamic.
"Let’s just pick a good floor plan and layout first. Once the house is bought, it’ll need renovation, and that’s a big project. It won’t be finished quickly."
Dave was trying hard to convince her,
"After the renovations, the house will need to air out before you can move in. It’ll take at least half a year, so how can that be considered rushing?"
Laurent, "...."
His implication was, were they planning to remarry and live together after that half year?
