You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 249- I’m back
Two days later, Laurent, following the flight information Soul had provided in the email, went to the airport with the company driver to pick up the client.
Since the client was, after all, still a company matter, Matthew arranged for the driver to take Laurent to pick up the client and to handle all transportation needs for the next few days.
Laurent arrived half an hour earlier than the flight’s scheduled landing time, to avoid any potential delays on the road that might cause her to be late and make the client wait.
The flight landed on time. However, Laurent waited by the exit, standing there as it seemed everyone had come through, but still no sign of the client named Soul.
Laurent had never met this client before and had only been in contact with him through emails.
She had the driver hold up a sign with the company name and a welcoming message for Mr. Soul, hoping that if he saw it, he would approach them.
But no one came forward. Laurent took out her phone, intending to call the contact number the client had provided to confirm his exact location.
Just as she was about to dial, she saw a person walk out from the exit.
Laurent immediately froze in place.
The man was dressed in a sharp black suit, with a matching coat hanging on his arm. His figure was tall and upright, his demeanor elegant. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
A pair of sunglasses rested on the bridge of his nose, and beneath them, his facial features were sharp and handsome. It was clear that once he took off the sunglasses, he would certainly be an attractive man.
What made Laurent freeze in place in shock wasn’t the man’s striking appearance, but rather how familiar his facial features under the sunglasses were. They were so similar to a man she had been close to the night before, almost as if they were cast from the same mold.
But she knew clearly that this wasn’t Dave, so the only possibility was...
Still stunned, she watched as the man walked toward her with long, graceful strides. He glanced at the sign the driver was holding, then flashed a gentle smile, speaking in fluent English.
"Excuse me, are you Miss Laurent?"
Laurent snapped back to reality, still gazing at the man in shock. But out of politeness, she nodded and replied,
"Yes, I am. May I ask, who are you...?"
Laurent had already guessed that he was the client Soul she was here to pick up, but she couldn’t help but secretly hope that he wasn’t.
The man removed his sunglasses, revealing a pair of narrow, captivating eyes that were charming in their own way.
"Hello, Miss Laurent, I’m Soul."
He extended his hand to shake hers, and Laurent mechanically stretched out her hand to return the gesture.
"Hello, Mr. Soul. Welcome to Burg Eltz."
After he took off his sunglasses, he was completely different from Dave.
Dave’s eyes were deep and slightly cold. He rarely smiled when looking at others, so he often gave off an impression of being distant and serious.
But the eyes of this man were filled with a smile, and although Laurent couldn’t tell whether the smile was genuine or fake, it gave off a warm and approachable feeling.
Two completely different people.
His facial features resembled Dave’s so much, and he was also from the United States.
Laurent thought she had mostly figured out Soul’s identity: Dave’s half-brother from the same father, Bert.
Bert Soul Washington.
Heh, Daniel sure had a knack for naming people back then.
As for Bert, although Laurent had never met him before, she knew very well what kind of person he was.
From Bert’s intentional revelation of Daniel’s illegitimate son, which had caused Washington’s stocks to plummet and the company to fall into trouble, to him seducing Clark and making Clark fall in love with him, to him forcing Clark to abort his child time and time again, leading to Clark’s infertility — Laurent had heard all of it from Dave.
Even the divorce between her and Dave, and the fact that Clark had stabbed Dave — when you looked at it closely, the real culprit behind everything was this man standing in front of her.
If it weren’t for his torment, Clark wouldn’t have undergone such drastic changes in personality, committing so many extreme and irrational acts.
Although his smile seemed gentle and harmless, to Laurent, who knew the whole truth, he was nothing less than a devil.
However, the reality was that she had to treat this devil with respect, because this devil was now her client.
Until he made any inappropriate moves, she had to respect him as a client.
So, no matter how much fear and resistance she felt inside, she had to hide it all and greet this devil with a smile.
The driver beside Laurent had no idea about the past animosities between them and only saw Bert as a client. So, while Laurent exchanged a few brief pleasantries with Bert, the driver politely stepped forward to take the man’s luggage.
Laurent quickly masked her shock, forcing a smile onto her face, and then politely addressed Bert,
"Mr. Soul, this way please."
The man’s eyes briefly studied her, seemingly curious about her change from surprise to composure, but in the end, he simply smiled and walked alongside her toward the exit of the airport lobby.
Once outside the airport lobby, the man stopped in his tracks. After surveying the surroundings, he closed his eyes, slowly stretched out his arms, and sighed,
"Burg Eltz, I’m back."
Laurent glanced at him, unable to stop herself from wondering what his words "I’m back" really meant.
Laurent felt the need to quickly inform Dave about this matter. Although Bert had never mentioned his name throughout the entire interaction, Laurent trusted her instincts and believed she wasn’t mistaken.
Laurent quickly composed herself, suppressing the unease swirling inside her. As she guided Bert toward the car, she mentally prepared to relay the information to Dave as soon as possible. There was something unsettling about Bert’s presence, something she couldn’t shake, and she knew Dave needed to know.
