The three of them got into the car, and the driver drove them back to the Burg Eltz city.
Throughout the journey, Laurent felt restless, wishing the driver would speed up to quickly drop Bert off at the hotel and get away from him. After all, no one could stay calm and relaxed in the same environment as a devil.
However, she tried her best to maintain her composure. If this were any other client, she would have eagerly started a conversation, making an effort to build a connection. But with Bert, Laurent had no desire to speak. She exchanged a few polite words about the weather and Burg Eltz before lapsing into silence.
Laurent was sitting in the front passenger seat, and the driver, who had grown familiar with her, noticed her unusual behavior. He knew she was usually warm and attentive to clients, so he wondered why she was so quiet today. At a red light, he kindly reminded her a few times, suggesting that she engage with the client to ease the awkward silence.
Laurent simply smiled at the driver. She couldn’t explain to him why she was suddenly cold toward the client.
The car continued its smooth journey, and Laurent began to consider whether she should tell Dave about the situation now. If she told him, Dave would likely rush to the hotel and wait there. But what if something unpleasant happened when he met Bert? After all, Bert had yet to show any inappropriate behavior, and he was just here for the factory visit. If she made things uncomfortable right from the start, it wouldn’t be good for her standing with Matthew.
After thinking it over, Laurent decided to wait until Bert was dropped off at the hotel before quickly contacting Dave.
She had been lost in thought, and after coming to a decision, she snapped back to reality, suddenly aware of Bert staring at her from the back seat.

"Mr. Soul, I don’t think the kind of woman you admire is someone like me."
What she meant was that he admired someone like Clark, and she was subtly making it clear that she was a completely different kind of woman. The tricks he used on Clark wouldn’t work on her.
Once again, Bert didn’t get the upper hand.
Now, Bert’s gaze toward her became even deeper, and he continued with her words.
"That may not necessarily be the case. Men’s tastes are always changing. One moment they like a certain type of woman, and the next, they might prefer a completely different style. As a married woman, Miss Laurent, you’d better keep an eye on your husband."
His words subtly suggested that maybe Dave would one day start liking other women.
Laurent smiled sweetly and replied,

After speaking, Laurent couldn’t help but admire her own quick thinking in the moment. What she had just said was enough to shut Bert up.
She first emphasized that her loyalty to Dave would never change, hinting that he shouldn’t waste his time on her with useless efforts. She also indirectly criticized Clark’s inconsistency.
And the reason she was able to confidently say that she could keep Dave’s heart tightly in her hands was because of the confidence Dave had given her during this time.
After Laurent finished speaking, she still wore a sweet smile on her face, and she turned to look at the man in the back seat with a warm and harmless gaze. Bert’s expression was quite entertaining.

For the rest of the journey, Bert didn’t try to start a conversation with Laurent, and of course, Laurent didn’t take the initiative to speak to him either.
When she was young, her parents had taught her that if someone bullied her, she should strike back hard, even if she wasn’t their match, she should still retaliate fiercely. That way, if the person tried to bully her again, they would remember her powerful response from the last time and wouldn’t dare to act so recklessly.
What Laurent had just done to Bert was exactly this.
