You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 283- in the car
Laurent initially resisted for a moment, after all, they were in the car.
Eventually, she gave in. She couldn’t help it; his kiss didn’t leave her any room to resist. She also thought that, after all, tonight was partly her fault, so she wrapped her arms around his neck, taking the initiative to meet him halfway, hoping this might help calm him down.
What she didn’t expect was that, while her initiative put out the fire in Dave’s heart, it only fueled the fire somewhere else. By the middle of the night, the two of them were kissing in the car, their breaths becoming erratic, their clothes disheveled.
If it hadn’t been for the fact that they were in the car, they likely wouldn’t have been able to stop.
Eventually, Laurent got out of the car, her face flushed. The two of them held hands and went back home to continue.
Laurent had had a bit to drink, and Dave’s attention was especially tuned to her, which stirred a strong desire for intimacy in her. By the time they reached the bed, she was so soft and pliable that her long, slender arms and legs wrapped around him, making him aware of her eagerness. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Dave, of course, felt it and could hardly wait to be one with her.
However, before that, the essentials needed to be taken care of.
He raised his hand to grab the necessities from the bedside table, but Laurent pulled him back, kissing him deeply. Dave leaned in to capture her lips, and they shared a passionate moment.
Laurent couldn’t take it any longer. She gripped his waist, pulling him toward her while whispering in a shaky voice,
"Don’t use a condom..."
Dave’s dark eyes gazed at her intensely, his voice low and filled with desire,
"Are you sure?"
Laurent nodded,
"Yeah, these days seem to be safe..."
As soon as the words left his mouth, he kissed her passionately, and his body began to move in sync with his desire.
There were no obstacles to their lovemaking, and both of them enjoyed it to the fullest, an indescribably wonderful experience.
Afterwards, Dave hugged her and said with a greedy smile,
"I wish every day was like this..."
If every day was like this, they wouldn’t need contraception; they could simply relish the wonderful sensation of being together.
Laurent didn’t even want to lift a finger.
"Then women wouldn’t be women."
How could a woman get pregnant and have a baby if she’s always ’safe’? What kind of woman would that be?
Dave chuckled softly in her ear,
"Go to sleep. You’ve got work tomorrow."
Laurent, clearly annoyed, replied,
"You know I have to work, don’t you?"
She had already come back late enough and had spent half the day with him. Now, she would have to go to work tomorrow with dark circles under her eyes.
Someone behind her laughed even more,
"Exactly. In the future, you’ll have to manage your time better. If there’s a social event or party, come back earlier. Otherwise, tonight is a preview of your future, maybe even... worse than this."
He said, then playfully slapped her on the hip. Laurent was almost furious. How dare he threaten her like that, telling her she wouldn’t be allowed to come back late in the future?
Damn him!
She rolled over, ignoring him, and fell asleep.
During this time, they had already started trying to let their daughter sleep separately from them. The two of them slept in the master bedroom because Dave said the bed was big enough, and their daughter slept alone in the guest room.
The little girl cooperated quite well. This was because Laurent had asked Dave to talk to their daughter about it, and Laurent didn’t know what method Dave used to get her to agree without crying or throwing a tantrum.
Dave’s response was infuriating. He said he didn’t say anything or do anything. He simply told the little girl that she was growing up and should sleep in her own room, like a sensible and obedient child.
Laurent was extremely frustrated. He managed to settle the matter with just a few words?
At the time, she had tried every method, coaxing and lying, taking quite a while to help their daughter adjust. If she had handed it over to Dave from the start, maybe it wouldn’t have been so exhausting.
And from this, it can be seen that the father is an irreplaceable part of a child’s life, playing an important role in their growth.
Girls naturally have an inexplicable trust and dependence on their fathers, especially after the age of three or four, when they become even more attached to their fathers. During this time, if fathers give them plenty of love, care, and attention, it can have a significant impact on their personalities.
At breakfast, Laurent was feeling a little drowsy.
Dave had bought breakfast downstairs during his morning run. Laurent couldn’t understand how, after sleeping together last night, he still had the energy to get up early and go for a run. She just wished she could sleep a little longer.
The three of them sat at the dining table, eating. Dave glanced at her, noticing her tiredness, and didn’t forget to continue with his subtle brainwashing.
"If you had come back two hours earlier last night, you wouldn’t be in this state today."
Laurent could naturally hear the implication in his words—it was just another way of reminding her not to stay out late again. She couldn’t be bothered to respond.
If he wanted to say it outright, why not? Wasn’t he tired of beating around the bush?
Then Dave remembered something important and proposed, "How about we go to your parents’ house this weekend?"
"Why go to my house?"
Laurent thought about her schedule for the weekend.
"I don’t think I have time this weekend. I need to meet a client."
Dave expressed his dissatisfaction. "You have to meet a client on the weekend? Your company is really inhuman."
Laurent wasn’t bothered by it.
"It’s not that our company is inhuman, but this client is a workaholic. He scheduled his visit for the weekend—what can we do about it?"
Clients are like gods. Every client has their own working style. Some are laid-back, while others are impatient workaholics who want to get everything done in one go.
Coincidentally, the client Laurent was hosting this week was a workaholic. There are some benefits to dealing with such an impatient client, though: their work efficiency is extremely high.
From the initial inquiry to placing the order, it only took a month.
Other clients tend to deliberate or change their minds from day to day, but this client was decisive. Once he decided on something, the order was placed immediately, with no delays or second thoughts—straightforward and efficient.
The order cycle was short, and making several deals with such a client could be equivalent to one deal with someone who works at a slower pace.
So, although it meant sacrificing her weekend, Laurent was still happy to accommodate this kind of client.
Dave understood Laurent’s work situation. After all, he had personally experienced how clients can insist on visiting during holidays or weekends, which can be frustrating.
However, he still decided to express his thoughts to Laurent.
"I was thinking we could go back together this weekend. Only by spending more time with your parents would your dad be able to sense my sincerity toward you. That way, he’d be more likely to accept me, don’t you think?"
After the failure of his first marriage, Dave learned one crucial lesson: communication.
There must be communication between two people, whether they are just a couple or already married. Only good communication allows each person to understand what the other is thinking, preventing unnecessary misunderstandings.
In the past, he kept everything inside, never openly sharing his thoughts or feelings. This lack of communication led to Laurent feeling insecure in their relationship and marriage, which gave Clark the opportunity to intervene later.
In other words, love needs to be expressed openly.
So now, Dave made a point of openly and sincerely sharing his feelings with Laurent, including his plans for their life together, striving for full transparency between them.
For instance, even though they wouldn’t be able to go to her parents’ house this weekend, he wanted her to know his intentions.
