You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 52- ex wife
When Laurent saw Alex so angry, she hurriedly went to stop him.
"Dad, Dad, don’t do this—"
Alex, still furious, had been thinking of going to the capital to settle things with Dave, and now that Dave had come to their door, there was no way he would let him off the hook.
But Laurent felt that there was no need for Alex to beat him up. If they hadn’t been divorced, it would be understandable for Alex to want to beat him for bullying her. But now that they were divorced, if he acted so violently, it would only make it look like she hadn’t truly let go. She had already moved on, stopped loving him, so there was no reason to be angry or resentful. That’s why she didn’t approve of Alex hitting him and was trying to stop him.
However, Alex was too worked up to listen. He pushed her hand aside and ran into the bathroom to grab a mop, charging out with it.
Cassy, who had heard the commotion from the kitchen, hurried out. When she saw her husband’s furious expression and the mop in his hand, she immediately stepped forward to stop him.
"What’s going on?"
Alex shouted in fury, "That heartless man is outside!"
Laurent shook her head helplessly. What was Alex calling him a heartless man for? Dave wasn’t a heartless man—he had never loved her, nor had he ever put his heart into their marriage. His heart had always been with Clark. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
If you don’t put your heart into something, how can you be called heartless
Someone like Grant would be considered a heartless man—he truly loved Adeline but then fell for someone else, specifically someone else’s money. Now, that was a real heartless man.
After Alex finished speaking, he tried to rush toward the door with the mop again, but Cassy continued to stop him.
"Calm down!"
Cassy also felt that her husband’s impulsive actions wouldn’t solve anything. Beating up Dave wouldn’t change anything. Their daughter’s heart had already been broken, and the marriage was over.
And now, they no longer had the right to beat him up. Since they were divorced, they had no relationship with him anymore, did they?
Despite Alex’s anger, Cassy was able to calm him down. He didn’t try to rush out again, and the three of them stood in the living room.
Cassy turned to Laurent and asked, "What did he come for?"
Laurent shook her head. "I don’t know."
She had already made herself clear to Lilian earlier—she didn’t want her phone or luggage back. Who knew what he was doing here now?
Cassy asked again, "Do you want to see him?"
Laurent didn’t hesitate before rejecting. "No. Not now, and not in the future, unless it’s for Emma."
What was the point of meeting with her ex-husband after their divorce?
After understanding Laurent’s stance, Cassy turned to look at Alex. "You and your daughter should go back to your room. I’ll answer the door."
Alex was still frustrated, feeling that not beating Dave up would leave him unsatisfied. However, since both his daughter and wife disagreed, he threw the mop down angrily and stormed into the room. Laurent picked up the mop Alex had dropped, put it away, and then returned to her own room.
Only then did Laurent’s mother go to open the door, offering a faint smile. Her tone was neither warm nor cold.
"Oh, it’s Dave. What brings you here?"
If this were before, Laurent’s mother would have certainly welcomed him in, but now, he wouldn’t receive that kind of treatment.
During their five years of marriage, Laurent’s father often gave Dave a cold shoulder, but Laurent’s mother had always been kind to him.
As a mother herself, Laurent’s mother had hoped her daughter’s marriage with Dave would last, wanting to give her child a complete family.
Upon seeing Laurent’s mother, Dave instinctively opened his mouth to call her "Mom," but at the last moment, he realized that he and Laurent were now divorced, so he changed his words.
"Hello, I came to return Laurent’s phone and luggage..."
They say habits are scary, and in this case, it was true. Over the years, because of this marriage, he had gotten used to calling her parents "Mom" and "Dad." At first, he hadn’t wanted to, but over time, it became a natural habit. Even now, he instinctively tried to call them that.
Laurent’s mother maintained her neutral smile, lifting her hand to take the suitcase and phone from him. She politely thanked him, saying, "Thank you."
Normally, after delivering the items, Dave should have left, considering their current relationship. However, he still stood there, as though wanting to say something but holding back.
Laurent’s mother politely asked, "Is there anything else?"
Dave’s gaze drifted past her and into the house. The living room was neat and tidy, but no one was inside. Laurent wasn’t there, nor was Alex.
Laurent’s mother glanced at him and smiled, then explained, "Laurent isn’t home. She went to get a new phone card. She said she didn’t want to use her old number anymore."
Laurent’s mother said this on purpose, intending to make it clear to Dave just how resolutely her daughter wanted to sever ties with their past.
When Dave heard that Laurent was getting a new phone number, his brow furrowed immediately.
His intuition told him that she had changed her number specifically to avoid him.
But if he didn’t know her new number, how could he contact her? They still had a daughter to consider.
What he forgot, however, was that due to his busy work schedule, their daughter mostly lived with Tiffany, the "lady of the manor." If anything happened to their daughter, she could easily reach out to Tiffany, bypassing him entirely.
This sense of losing control over everything made him uncomfortable, yet he couldn’t directly express it. So, he tried to indirectly suggest to Laurent’s mother:
"I’ve already brought her phone back, so there’s really no need for her to get a new card, right? It would be inconvenient if her old friends in the city can’t reach her."
Laurent’s mother smiled and replied, "Laurent says there’s no one worth contacting in the city anymore. If she doesn’t contact them, it’s fine."
Before Dave could say anything more, she continued, "Sorry, I’ve got food cooking in the pot, I need to check on it."
With that, she closed the door, leaving Dave standing outside.
Dave bit his lip and stood there for a while before turning and walking away.
He wasn’t so thick-skinned that he could keep lingering there.
She wasn’t home, she said.
But when he knocked earlier, he clearly heard her voice inside, as if she was trying to stop Alex from doing something.
She was home, yet she was deliberately avoiding him.
In fact, her parents didn’t make things difficult for him. After hearing that Alex had contacted his own father to complain, he had already mentally prepared himself for the confrontation, expecting Alex to give him a piece of his mind.
However, no one made things hard for him.
This lack of confrontation bothered him more than if Alex had yelled at him. Sometimes, the more casual the response, the more it hurt.
And her avoidance.
For so many years, he had grown used to her constantly pursuing him, eagerly wanting to see him every day. Now, she was deliberately avoiding him.
Such a huge shift in dynamics was something no one could easily adjust to.
He felt frustrated, telling himself that in time, he would get used to it. He would grow accustomed to not having her around.
After leaving her house and getting into his car, he glanced back at her home. Her house was on the first floor, so it was easy for him to see.
Her room’s window was tightly shut, with the white blinds drawn, blocking everything from view.
He remembered her room had a large bay window, covered with soft cushions. Once, during a New Year’s visit, they had spent time together there, sharing some intimate moments. The memory was both pleasurable and unforgettable.
That time it seems that he originally had something to go out, and when he came back into her room to look for her, he found her sitting on the floating window leaning against the wall behind her asleep.
Hair pouring down, more and more lined with her fair complexion, eyebrows and eyes, cherry lips in the sunshine with a pink gloss, incomparable temptation.
He inexplicably had a desire to go over to her arms propped up on the cushion in front of her, lowered his head to kiss her, and in the process pressed the switch on the blinds.
She was still asleep, but could sense that it was him, and reached out her arms to encircle his neck, wooing and responding fervently.
But then noticed what he wanted to do, she woke up, all kinds of resistance refused, said her parents and daughter are outside, and this side is also by the window, will be heard by people outside.
He was so eager and determined to do it that she was no match for him, and in the end she bit her lip and did as he wished.
Thinking of these, Dave felt dry mouth, hot flashes, black eyes sullenly stared at her window again, took the car’s mineral water to drink a big mouthful, which started up the car and drove away.
Damn, just divorced and want to have sex with his ex-wife, what is going on!
