You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 91- How could he not be angry?
A loud "thud" echoed through the large bedroom as a phone was angrily tossed onto the desk. Someone walked out of the bedroom with a cold expression, wearing comfortable, casual home clothes—black pants and a gray top—and headed straight for the study.
After rummaging through the drawers for a while, the person walked out of the study in frustration.
This person was none other than Dave, who had told Laurent he was out socializing. In reality, he had been at home. When Laurent called, Dave was just about to go to bed, but after turning off the lights, he found himself tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
For a man who was used to doing something relaxing and rejuvenating before bed, and who was in the prime of his life, suddenly having no outlet for that was agonizing.
And the culprit called him right at that moment. How could he be in a good mood?
So, his attitude throughout the conversation was terrible, especially since she was asking him to find something for her.
If she was so capable of divorcing him, why hadn’t she cleaned things up properly and left back then?
Also, these past few days, she hadn’t even glanced at him, but now, when she needed something, she called him?
How could he not be angry?
However, no matter how angry he was, after hanging up, he unknowingly went to the study again. After another round of searching through drawers and cabinets, he still couldn’t find the USB drive she had mentioned.
He was even more enraged. Without a second thought, he turned back to the bedroom, ready to call her and demand an explanation.
He stepped into the bedroom but then stopped in his tracks. If he called her to ask why he couldn’t find the USB drive, wouldn’t that be admitting that he was lying? He had just told her that he was out socializing—there was no way he could have returned so quickly to look for it. And besides, he had already told her he wouldn’t help her and wasn’t going to find it for her...
Reluctantly, he turned back and went to the study.
This time, he calmed down and methodically searched through the drawers, one by one. Finally, in the very bottom drawer, at the back, he found the so-called USB drive— a small, silver one.
Holding it in his hand, he turned to leave but, for some inexplicable reason, found himself sitting down in front of the computer. He turned it on and plugged in her USB drive, curious to see what was inside.
At the time, she was still a student, and many of the folders were filled with study materials.
There was also a folder labeled "Photos." When he opened it, it was filled with pictures of her, further divided into folders by year, starting from when she first entered university all the way to her graduation.
It was all very clear.
Dave thought to himself that he must be incredibly bored to be looking through her old photos like this.
When he met her, she was already in her senior year, so he didn’t know what she looked like in the earlier years. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Since he was opening the photos by year, the first images he saw were from after her military training when she first entered university—she was sunburned and looking like a refugee from Africa.
She looked awful.
In reality, she wasn’t that dark; he was just being harsh with his words.
After going through all her old photos, Dave concluded that she only became beautiful after they got together.
Before, she had been downright unattractive, in terms of both her looks and her style.
Well, it seemed that only he could give her the best.
This was also the first time he had delved into her past, by way of secretly looking through her photos.
In most of these photos, she was smiling, her eyes crinkled with laughter. It was clear that, at that time, she truly radiated brightness and joy. Dave couldn’t understand where she found all these things to be happy about. He felt that there was nothing in life that was worth being cheerful about.
Was it that she had a low threshold for happiness, or was it that his threshold was too high?
As he was about to close the window after looking through the photos, he glanced at the time in the lower right corner of the screen. It was already midnight.
That meant he had wasted two whole hours on the pointless task of looking through her pictures!
He exited the folder in frustration, but suddenly, he noticed a video titled "I Promise You a Lifetime of Smiles."
Curious, he clicked to play it, but the more he watched, the darker his expression became.
Not because of anything else, but because the video had been made by Leonardo for her. It was all about her—many of her photos were compiled into a video that spanned several minutes, chronicling her from her first days in college up until her graduation.

What truly made Dave’s face darken was the accompanying words in the video—confessions from Leonardo.
For every photo of her, there was a sentence from Leonardo.
Things like, "The moment I saw you, your radiant smile melted me."
One of the photos showed her in the spring, with a flower tucked behind her ear, her head bent slightly as she inhaled the fragrance of the roses around her. Leonardo’s caption for this photo was:
"It’s the tenderness in that downward glance, like a water lily shyly bending in the cool breeze."
At the end of the video was a simple sentence:
"I promise you a lifetime of beautiful moments, and a lifetime of smiles in return."
In simpler terms, it meant: "If you accept me and be with me, I will make you happy and joyful for the rest of your life."
After watching the few-minute-long video, Dave was burning with anger, especially at that last sentence.
To him, this kind of behavior in pursuing a woman was utterly childish and pretentious!
All the talk about love and promises paled in comparison to the material comforts he could provide for her.
Hadn’t she blossomed ever more beautifully since marrying him? That was all thanks to the life he had given her!
Fuming, Dave closed the video and immediately hit delete.
During their five years of marriage, she had kept a video of another man confessing his love to her?
Where did that leave his dignity?
Did she find that confession so touching that she couldn’t bear to delete it?
