Chapter 92: Chapter 92- I regret it!

However, in the end, he didn’t delete the video.

He suddenly thought that if he deleted it, given the attitude she had toward him recently, she would definitely get angry, and her temper had been so fierce lately that he couldn’t handle it.

After thinking it over, he decided not to delete it.

With a rough yank, he pulled the USB drive out, clenched it tightly in his hand, and stormed out of the study, seething with anger.

He was going to confront her in person and demand an explanation—why, after marrying him, had she kept a video of another man confessing his love to her? What did she think of his dignity, Dave’s dignity?

The day after Laurent had called Dave, she was still incredibly busy.

While she was continuously absorbing knowledge about foreign trade, she also needed to become thoroughly familiar with every aspect of the factory’s operations.

To do this, she had found the most direct and efficient way—staying in the workshop. From the very first step of preparing materials to the sewing and knitting on the production line, and finally to the packing and shipping, she decided that whenever there was nothing urgent in the office, she would be in the workshop learning.

So now, almost every time she had a break, she would head to the workshop and work alongside the factory workers, sometimes staying late when they had overtime.

Every day, after getting off the bus, she would walk home from the community entrance, her body aching and barely able to keep her eyes open.

She was exhausted, really exhausted.

Working in the workshop was far more tiring than sitting in the office all day. There was simply no place to sit in the workshop.

Watching the entire process, sometimes she felt like her back was going to break.

But no matter how tired she was, she kept pushing herself. She didn’t want to give up halfway.

In her heart, there was always a belief supporting her—that she had to do this job well, prove her worth, and hold her head high in front of those who looked down on her.

That night, she came home late again. When she was almost in front of her building, she suddenly saw a black nanny car parked outside her apartment. She immediately stopped in her tracks.

You see, this low-key yet luxurious nanny car was the standard for celebrities.

The thought of celebrities made her heart skip a beat, and she stared at the car in shock.

Sure enough, the door of the nanny car opened, and a man, dressed in understated yet strikingly handsome attire, stepped out.

It was Leonardo. He wore an ordinary black outfit, but the outfit, though simple, seemed incredibly stylish because of his captivating presence and perfect physique.

He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, with the oversized hood pulled over his head to conceal his face. However, as soon as he stepped out of the car and saw the person he had been looking for, he casually pulled the hood down.

Laurent stood frozen, unsure how to react.

A few days ago, Vivian had told her that she had already given her phone number to Leonardo. But since Laurent hadn’t received any calls from him, she assumed he had no intention of reaching out or seeing her. Maybe he had forgotten all about her.

She hadn’t given it much thought. But now, here he was, standing in front of her building.

In truth, Laurent had no desire to see Leonardo.

Seeing him would mean confronting the reality of her divorce from Dave.

To her, this was no different from laying bare her wounds for Leonardo to see—especially since he had once told her that he was waiting for the day she would end up unhappily divorced.

Now, his prediction had come true, and he had been right all along. How embarrassing for her.

Moreover, it had been years since she and Leonardo had last seen each other. The only glimpses she’d had of him were on television or in various news articles.

Now, seeing him in person out of the blue, she had no idea how to react.

How would you react if you suddenly met an old friend you hadn’t seen in over five years? 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

She had no reaction at all. She just stood there, staring blankly as Leonardo walked toward her.

Leonardo was the kind of man who was undeniably attractive—otherwise, he wouldn’t have been chosen to be a star. Of course, his biggest asset in breaking into showbiz wasn’t just his good looks but his exceptional singing talent. A good voice paired with striking features—naturally, he became famous.

Laurent had to admit, Leonardo was incredibly handsome, especially his deep, mesmerizing eyes.

And yet, even if Leonardo looked at her ten times, it could never compare to the impact of a single glance from Dave.

Of course, she was talking about the past.

Now, no matter how many times Dave looked at her, she wouldn’t care.

Leonardo stopped in front of her, hands tucked into the pockets of his hoodie. He squinted slightly, giving her a once-over before speaking coldly.

"Are you satisfied now?"

Laurent stared at him, completely bewildered.

Satisfied with what?

Leonardo’s eyes stayed sharp as he continued,

"To become this broken, lifeless mess for a man who doesn’t love you—does that make you happy?"

"Throwing yourself into the flames for nothing—now your youth is gone, your child is gone, your career is gone. You’ve lost everything. Is that what you wanted?"

His sharp words pierced through Laurent’s heart. Since the divorce, she had been doing everything she could to suppress her emotions, keeping herself busy with work to numb the pain.

But with Leonardo’s arrival, his harsh, cutting words tore apart her carefully constructed facade of strength in mere moments.

Anger and humiliation surged within her, and she lost control, shouting back at him,

"I regret it! I regret it, alright?!"

"I regret falling in love with a heartless man! I regret using pregnancy as a ploy to trap him into marriage! I regret my naivety! I regret ending up so battered and broken!"

"Isn’t this what you wanted to hear? Isn’t this what you’ve been waiting for? For me to admit that my choice back then was a mistake? For me to admit that I failed? Well, now you’ve heard it! Are you satisfied?"

"Get out! I don’t want to see you!"

After unleashing her emotions in a torrent, she turned abruptly to leave. She had to get away before her tears started to fall.

Leonardo stepped forward to block her path, pulling her into his arms with a firm embrace.

"I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I know my words were too harsh. I just lost control for a moment," he said, his voice thick with remorse and tenderness.

He held her tightly, trying to explain himself. He had once loved her fierce, vibrant, and unapologetic spirit so much, but now, seeing her in this weary and downtrodden state, his heart ached with anger, regret, and deep sorrow.

When she got married, he had bitterly told her that he would wait for the day she regretted it and came back to him. Yet now that she was divorced, he felt no joy.

Because he knew how deeply she had loved Dave, and he understood that her pain now must run just as deep.

After hearing from Vivian that she seemed to be doing fine post-divorce, acting as if nothing had happened, he had been too angry to call her. She always did this—pretending to be strong, hiding her feelings, and bearing everything alone. But he knew her well enough to see that she was hurting inside.

Laurent was startled by Leonardo’s sudden hug. She didn’t have the chance to stay angry or react; she instinctively raised her hands to push him away.

But before she could, a blinding light swept over them, illuminating their figures.

Leonardo instinctively tightened his hold on her, shielding her with his body from the glaring light. He squinted, turning his head toward the source of the beam.

Not far away, a car slowly rolled toward them. As the bright lights dimmed slightly, Leonardo caught a clear view of the driver—it was Dave.

Still protected in Leonardo’s arms, Laurent peeked her head out to see what was going on. She was about to complain about the rude use of high beams when she froze, recognizing the man behind the wheel.

Dave.

At first, Laurent thought her eyes were playing tricks on her. She blinked a few times, but there was no mistake—it really was Dave.

She suddenly remembered the tense phone call from the night before when she had asked him to find her USB drive. She couldn’t fathom why he would be here now, outside her building.

Snapping back to her senses, she realized she was still in Leonardo’s arms. Embarrassed, she quickly stepped back, putting distance between them.

Her action had nothing to do with whether Dave had seen them or not. It was simply because she and Leonardo weren’t in a romantic relationship, and such intimate gestures were inappropriate.
