Chapter 737: The Truth and A Wire

"She told me the only solution to save her was to..."

"Was to what?"

As Yueyue moved a little closer, Xiaoyun’s face was only getting more and more embarrassed by the second.

"Let’s just say I did what I needed to do to save her. Can we just leave it at that?"

"Is this the honesty you’re talking about? Not even telling us the full story? I hope you know that we can just ask Tianci later."

An invisible sweat began to fall from his forehead. It was one weak link that he had no way of hiding from their hands.

"Fine, fine. I’ll say it if you really wanted to hear about it that badly... I had to use my bodily fluid to save her."

"Bodily fluid?"

The answer confused Yueyue for a second, but she soon realized what Xiaoyun was implying as her face blushed a little red.

"You now see why I don’t want to talk about it?" Xiaoyun questioned back, his face looking a little irritated.

"You had sex with her already?" Yueyue questioned, her face resisting the urge to giggle as Xiaoyun’s eyes started looking away.

"No. I haven’t even touched her. There’s zero intimate contact between Houqin and me, literally not even in the slightest."

Seeing the hint of frustration and the seriousness on his face, Yueyue didn’t doubt it this time as she took his word at face value.

"Okay then. I think you’re ready now. Let’s go back home together and let you explain it to everyone else."

Just as she jumped out of the desk and landed on the floor, Xiaoyun immediately noticed something a little off as her hand reached for her ears.

"Yueyue, what was that?"

"Hm? What are you on about? Stop sitting here. Let’s go already. You said it yourself, let’s not be late for dinner today."

The more Yueyue tried to hurry him, the more suspicious he became. He slowly got up from his chair before lunging over to her arms.

"What are you—"

In the nick of time, Xiaoyun’s hand managed to brush her hair aside, revealing an earpiece that had been hidden in her hair the whole time.

"Yueyue, what the hell is this?"

"I-It’s just my music headphone."

"Do I look stupid? Who’s on the other side? Give me your phone. I don’t want to hear any more excuses from you."

After a short standstill, Yueyue took off her wireless earpiece, putting it into a case before taking out her phone from her pocket.

Right there in the exact moment, Xiaoyun froze. It was an ongoing phone call with Leyan exactly ten minutes ago.

In other words, it started as soon as Xi Liang had finished the report and left the room.

"Really? You had to set me up like this? This is the second time. No, third time you guys have wired me."

"Sorry, honey. We just wanted to hear it from you without having you face the pressure from all of us."

Leyan’s answer from the other side didn’t satisfy Xiaoyun in the slightest. At the same time, he quickly realizes the wording she used.

"We... Don’t tell me everyone is on the phone call right now."

The other side went radio silent until the phone call was abruptly ended, leaving Yueyue in an awkward position as she nervously brushes her hair.

"Um... S-Sorry Xiaoyun. I really didn’t mean to have them listen in like this. B-But Mom sent this text while you were reading the report.

She’s the one who told me to put you on the call and ask you about this. I-I didn’t mean to hide it from you."

"But you did hide it from me... Whatever, I just hope you can at least tell me about it next time."

Yueyue didn’t say anything back as she followed Xiaoyun out of the room, heading down the hall without standing next to him.

"Yueyue, do you really have to listen to whatever Leyan tells you to do? Can’t you have some independent thinking and tell me about it?"

"I... I got a little curious myself, too."

Seeing her unwilling to change, Xiaoyun didn’t bother trying to convince her to fall into his side as he headed straight towards his car.

"I’m really sorry about earlier." Yueyue apologized as she stood across from the passenger door.

"You could have at least given me some hint that you’re being recorded. Not even a blink or anything."

"I promise I’ll give you a signal next time when Mom asks me to do this again."

"Next time?"

"I-I mean it will never happen again! I’ll just refuse her suggestion and ignore her demand if she asks me to do something like this."

"I really hope so."

As Xiaoyun entered his car, Yueyue quickly hopped into the passenger seat, wearing the seatbelt as he started up the engine.

"You aren’t mad at me anymore, right?" Yueyue quietly asked, her face looking more nervous than when he first caught her.

"What do you think?"

---

"Welcome back, Honey!"

"Mhm."

Xiaoyun walked right past Leyan’s attempt for a hug as he hung his bag and jacket aside, putting them on the clothes hanger.

"Hey Xiaoyun, don’t make it sound like you’re the victim. Do we need to remind you that you’re the one who’s... cheating?" Yuqi questioned.

As all of his wives outside of Tianci sat on the living room sofa, he only let out a small sigh before sitting in the lone chair by himself.

"What do you all want from me? I don’t need to explain myself any further, right?"

The grumpy voice from Xiaoyun rubbed them the wrong way, but Leyan’s death stare and raised brow shut their attempt to speak up.

"Honey, we don’t want anything from you. We all just wanted you to be happy... We’re all fine with you marrying Houqin."

"You sure?" Xiaoyun asked, his voice sounding a little uncertain as he didn’t really trust her words.

Leyan nodded her head first, soon followed by Yueyue and Wuli, who had long gotten over it at this point.

However, all the other girls looked much more hesitant—especially Yuqi, whose face had the word anger written all over it.

"Houqin, out of all people. Couldn’t you pick someone else to go to Changsha? What made you think that was a good idea in the first place?"

"It already happened. There’s no point in crying over spilled milk. I take full responsibility—"

"Responsibility all the way to the bed. Real smart of you."

As Yuqi interrupted Xiaoyun from fully defending himself, a surprise ally chimed in on his side.

"Why are you unhappy with this, Yuqi? Aren’t you the first person who requested Xiaoyun to take Houqin at all costs in the past?"

"That... that was a different time. Now it’s unacceptable. Nami, you can’t use something that has been months. No, years ago."

"Put your personal feud aside, Yuqi... I think having Houqin in our family has only benefited if we were to rationalize it fully."

With Shuli changing course towards Xiaoyun’s side, it became clear in the family that everyone had accepted Houqin to a certain degree.

"How about we do a vote?" Kate suddenly suggested, her face looking a little excited for some reason.

"Sounds good to me." Anna instantly answered, looking just as excited as if the two had something hidden between them.

"I-I don’t think we should be v-voting on this kind of stuff..." Yueyue quietly murmured as she felt a little disconnected.

"Remember, Xiaoyun, you signed the guideline yourself. A single person refusing it will make the marriage null regardless of what you do."

Yuqi suddenly stands up and prematurely pulls out her trump card, not wanting to go through a landslide vote that would only embarrass her.

"Yuqi! Sit down. Stop being so petty. Just because you had some disagreement with Houqin on work doesn’t mean you can be so selfish."

As Leyan forcefully pulls her back down, Yuqi’s face blushes a little. She knew Leyan was in the right, but something inside her just couldn’t get over it.

"Yuqi is right. I can’t force you all to accept Houqin because of my selfish desire... But I’m sure you all will accept her over time—"

"What are you all talking about?"

The interruption made everyone look towards the kitchen, only to see a bunch of babies following around Lily.

"Oh, I almost forgot to feed my baby tonight," Yueyue murmured as she quickly took it as a sign to leave.

"Wait for me!" Nami yelled as she quickly caught up before grabbing Xuanhua from the kitchen floor.

"Anna, didn’t you tell me earlier that you wanted to show me about that computer? Let’s go check it out."

"O-Okay."

"Yuqi, let’s leave some room for them," Leyan murmured as she sat up from her seat,

"Good luck, dummy."

As Leyan and Yuqi left the living room next, only Xiaoyun remained. He awkwardly looked towards a confused Lily with a blank brain.

He hasn’t thought about this step at all. It was the one person he didn’t know how to convince or even explain to.

"Um... Lily, I don’t know how to put this to you, but I—"
