Chapter 747: Jiangmen Affair

"Commander Li Miao! We had captured Tongxia Town!"

As a soldier entered the tent and reported out loud, several officers were standing inside the tent, with a middle-aged man with the most senior badge in the middle.

"Good. Tell them to take a rest for today."

The soldier quickly left the tent, leaving Li Miao and his officers as they all looked to each other for a second.

"At this rate, it looks like we’re about to reach the center of Jiangmen by September." One of the officers murmured.

"Hopefully... Has anyone heard a message from Zhen Ren?" Li Miao asked.

"Last thing I heard was that they are still advancing towards Shuikou town. They seem to have bogged down near these two mountains."

Seeing on the map, everyone could instantly tell that the army to their west was going at a much slower pace.

"Commander, shouldn’t we send a complaint to General Han Bang? They’re going to slow down our advances if they can’t reach their target in time."

"Do you think Han Bang wouldn’t know that?"

The office that asked the question instantly fell into silence, realizing what he just asked was nonsense.

"Should we slow down more? I really don’t think it’s a safe idea to approach Jiangmen with only a single division."

"We can’t delay it any further. The longer we stall it out, the bigger the horde will be when we get to Jiangmen."

As another officer argued back, Li Miao stood there in silence. He needed to make a decision now.

But in the end, he chose to play it safe.

"Lou Fang, go send a message to Han Bang. Ask him what we should do... And request more ammo."

"Yes, sir!"

One of the officers quickly exited the room, leaving only three other officers in the tent as they looked to each other with a little uneasiness.

"Commander, do we really need to ask the General about it? We can very well handle the entire eastern flank all by ourselves."

"Too risky. We need to spend more effort in clearing Gonghe town anyway. There’s no point in advancing further."

None of the officers spoke up again as they could tell Li Miao was already determined push the responsibility over to Han Bang.

---

"General! Colonel Li Miao just sent us a message!"

As a soldier ran straight into a big tent, Han Bang was talking to two other officers whose faces seemed a little annoyed.

"You two, go back to your post and don’t repeat the mistake."

"Yes, sir!"

With the two officers out of the tent, Han Bang turned his attention to the panting soldier, who looked a little exhausted.

"What did Li Miao say?"

"They had captured Tongxia town. Colonel Li Miao had asked if they should continue advancing or stop for now."

Looking over to the sandbox, Han Bang moved a small pawn into a newer position before noticing the disconnect between the other pawns.

"Tell them to stop for now. Make it clear that they need to wait for the others to catch up first."

"Yes, sir!"

As the soldier ran out of the tent, Han Bang looked down toward the sandbox in silence. Inside his mind, he was a little happy.

He made the right choice in choosing Li Miao as the person watching the Eastern flank—a man who’s much more conservative in his advancement.

However, looking over at the center, it had barely made any progress. But he knew there was no way for him to criticize Zhen Ren over it.

"Hopefully he sends some good news by tomorrow..." Han Bang murmured to himself as he had a weird feeling.

"General! Colonel Li Qing and Colonel Fei Gan had both returned from Enping and Xianggang town."

"Finally, tell them to come into the tent right now."

"Already ahead of you."

As Fei Gan and Li Qing both walked straight into the tent, Han Bang was more than overjoyed to hug them.

"How are you two so fast?"

Han Bang curiously asked, as the sandbox indicated they were still originally in Liuxiang town, which was still fifty miles away from both places.

"Barely any zombies along the whole road. We even managed to rescue some of the civilians who created their own settlements."

"Really?"

Fei Gan’s answer surprised Han Bang a little, as almost the majority of their mission had only a small group of traveling survivors, not a whole settlement.

"He meant between the route we’re heading. The settlement isn’t actually in the big city or town." Li Qing answered this time.

"Right, of course... Did they choose to evacuate or did they choose to stay in place?" Han bang questioned.

"Some of them left, but the majority of them chose to stay. They’re all willing to work with us, though."

"That’s good... You two are really lucky, you know that?" Han Bang murmured as he moved the two pawns to reflect the new situation.

"Why’s that?" Fei Gan curiously asked.

"Because your friend Zhao Ren is not having a fun time... Your side and Li Miao’s side had both made huge progress."

As the two of them turned towards the sandbox, they could see Zhen Ren’s pawn barely had moved at all in Zhaiwu town, right before the two mountains.

"What’s taking him so long?"

"The road got blown up long ago, and the zombies are in the mountains... Like would you believe that?"

"Huh?"

Both Fei Gan and Li Qing looked a little dumbfounded, as the though of zombies purposely going into a mountain made no sense.

"And the worst part is, those mountains are covered in trees. His men are just stuck trying to repair the road and clear the mountain at the same time."

"Thank god we didn’t get assigned there..." Fei Gan murmured, with Li Qing letting out a small sigh of relieve as well.

"That’s what I said you two got lucky. Anyway, you guys can go back now. I’ll send you all a message when its time to advance."

As the two of them headed out of the tent, Han Bang stared at the sandbox in silence as his mind looked a little confused.

"Why would zombies stay in the mountains...?"

---

Meanwhile, over on a highway...

"Holy shit, I’m so fucking exhuasted."

A soldier yawned out loud, holding his AKM and standing in front of a small hill covered in trees and tall grasses.

Several other soldier were also standing nearby looking just as tired, but none of them complained underneath the evening sun.

"Keep it going! The faster we do this, the faster we get to leave. If we don’t do this fast, we’ll be stuck here for another week!"

As an officer moved past the guarding soldiers, several more soldiers were pushing wheelbarrow, full of alreayd mixed cement inside.

"Why would we stuck in another week?" The yawning soldier quietly asked his fellow soldier next to him.

"Don’t you know? It’s going to rain soon. Look at all the cloud over there in the sky"

"Fuck sake..."

Staring back at the endless trees and the same old rock in front of them, all of the soldiers were soon getting bored out of their mind.

"Crap, I need to go to the bathroom... Sergeant, can I go tkae a bathroom break?" The yawning soldier asked out loud.

"Just do it here."

"I need to take a dump."

"Fuck sake, go to the back... Wait, you, go with him as well."

The older soldier next to the yawning soldier wanted to protest, but he quickly accepted it after realize this was one of the few breaks they could get.

"Mei Fang, what the hell? You just pooped this morning. There’s no way you need to poop again." The older soldier questioned.

"You don’t want a break? I’m tired standing there for half the day... I’m going to get a heat stroke if I need to stand there any longer."

As the two of them arrived at the back, there was a several cars and a whole mixer truck right next to them.

"Finally some shade... Stupid ass road designer really put the trees on the south side of the road—"

"Would you stop complaining for one moment?"

The yawning soldier finally shuts his mouth as he headed around to the back, taking his pants off before squatting down.

"Bruh you’re actually taking a shit?" The older soldier questioned, looking a little surprise as he quickly step away.

"What make you think I was joking?"

The nature soon took over as the cold breeze whistled through the road. No human sound other than the cement mixer running running loud as hell in the distant.

"That thing is so annoying..."

The older soldier murmured as he started to feel like he was getting tinnitus from the constant ringing sound.

"I thought so too."

"Just take shit, man. Don’t talk to me."

"Okay okay."

After a five minute dump, the yawning soldier suddenly realize something after reaching into his pocket.

"Crap. Did you bring any toilet paper? I forgot to bring it."

"Let me go back into the truck."

As the older soldier quickly headed over to the pick-up truck, the yawning soldier suddenly noticed something in the distant.
