Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Talia

Ivy started to formulate a plan. To open a base of her own, she will need electricity, a water supply, land, construction materials, a powerful security team, loyal base members, and a puppet.

There were some more issues, but for now, Ivy decided to focus on these factors mainly.

In her previous life, she was able to protect a base consisting of 400,000 people from zombies, extreme cold, and even from the mutated beast tides.

Yet none of them knew about her. They praised the leader of Talon Base who molested Ivy and let others take advantage of her.

In this life, she will use her superpower and deal with every single person who has harmed her.

Taking a deep breath, Ivy looked at the name at the top of her list. Silas’s family.

The person who will suffer the most loss from the Black Vultures is Silas’s family member.

Talia Blackthorn. Silas’s sister, and Ivy’s number one hater.

Other than the sour face she kept showing to Ivy, there was almost nothing wrong with her. That woman was beautiful, powerful, and intelligent.

Unlike others who will awaken their second superpower 5 years later, Talia awakened two superpowers after just the first Power Rain.

Memory Manipulation and Illusion Weaving. Two of the strongest superpower combinations Ivy had ever heard of.

With her superpower, she could have easily become the ruling queen of the apocalypse. She just needed to be in front of a person, and her powers could make the person kill himself without any regret.

Such an intelligent woman suffers from BPD(Borderline Personality Disorder), which eventually resulted in her demise.

As long as Ivy has Talia by her side, she can protect herself from all the incoming dangers.

Though it was shameful to admit, Ivy knows her limitations. Her superpowers are like treasures in a beggar’s hand. She doesn’t have any superpowers to protect herself.

It was only the beginning of the apocalypse, and she could fight off those monsters, but later... when their powers evolve, physical strength will amount to nothing.

"Talia must be on military grounds right now... I can try to schedule a meeting." Ivy muttered in a small voice.

Talia hardly checked her phone, and reaching out to her through the phone was useless. Ivy was 100% sure that if Talia heard Ivy wanting to meet her, she would definitely decline.

Taking a deep breath, Ivy called Silas on the telephone, and soon the call was connected, followed by Silas’s cold voice,

"Hello?"

"Um... can you arrange a meeting between me and Talia?" Ivy asked in a hesitant voice. Silas’s cold voice made her flustered a bit.

Was he furious that she called? Or was he upset by her previous behavior? Suddenly, Ivy felt upset. She couldn’t pinpoint the reason for her upsetness, but she just felt aggrieved.

"Ivy? Sure. I will do it. I will come and pick you up." Silas’s voice softened instantly, causing Ivy to pause.

Eh? Pick her up? But she had only asked him to arrange a meeting.

"Can I meet with her today?" Ivy asked as her hand unconsciously twirled a pink hair strand. All the agitation she felt earlier vanished into thin air.

"Most likely not," Silas replied. From the surrounding noise, it was clear that he was walking with steady steps.

"So... pick me up the day I can meet Talia." Ivy clenched her fist to suppress the unhappiness she was feeling while saying those words...

She missed Silas. However, the voice in her mind kept on reminding her,

’You are doing it for him! He can only live a good life if he stays far away from you. You can love him from a distance anyway.’

Her heart ached, and for a moment, she hated that she was even reborn. What was the use of being reborn when she couldn’t be with the one whom she loves?

"That won’t do." Silas’s cool voice broke Ivy’s train of thought as he continued, "What if Talia is free today? Just stay with me for a few days. And I will arrange a meeting when she is free."

"But..." Before Ivy could even enter her ’but’, Silas interrupted, "Ivy, my heart is aching... I feel my breathing turning rapid. Is it too much for me to request a meeting?"

Sorrow was dripping from Silas’s words, and the last barrier Ivy had built near her heart seemed to have cracked.

’Come on, Ivy, he sounds so depressed and dejected. A meeting won’t affect him much. Not to mention, he had scarficied so much for you, can you bear to see him sad?’

"Okay." Ivy agreed; she imagined Silas’s expression relaxing. However, what she didn’t know was that a certain someone was grinning from ear to ear.

’This trick works well on her.’ Silas thought. Suddenly, he saw something on the table and his eyes lit up.

He continued,

"Then get ready, I will arrive at Skyline Residentials within the next 10 minutes."

Ivy was stunned hearing Silas’s words, "Are you not in the military?"

"I am," Silas replied confidently.

"The distance between the military compound and the Skyline residential is 30 minutes..." Ivy softly mentioned, "No need to rush."

"I am not... I have already left the military grounds." Silas explained, when in reality he was standing in his office.

"Alright." Ivy didn’t argue. Silas won’t lie to her or such a small matter. She then hurriedly took a shower and did a light makeup, and picked one of the new dresses Isla hadn’t worn.

"I just want to look presentable," Ivy muttered as if to console herself. Just as she was finished, her phone rang, and she pressed on answer button.

"I am downstairs. Take your time to get ready." Silas’s gentle voice was a stark contrast to his previously cold voice, echoing, making Ivy’s ears turn a bit warm.

"Uh-huh. I am coming." Ivy said, and checked herself one last time in the mirror before descending the stairs.

Once downstairs, she saw the Wrangler used by Silas and walked up to it.

She found that the passenger door was locked, so she went to the back seat and saw Silas who had a gauze on his head. Her expression changed, and she asked worriedly,

"What happened to you?"
