Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Tricking Ivy

Silas sighed as if masking the pain he was suffering, "Nothing, just one of the missions."

Henry, sitting in the driver’s seat: ("¬_¬)

Have some shame, Silas. Just how inhuman you could be, to trick Ivy?

For the first time in a long while, Henry felt Ivy was far too innocent compared to his scheming boss.

Though a part of him still dislikes Ivy, now he pities her more. Seeing the concerned expression on Ivy’s face, Henry suddenly missed his own girlfriend.

Ivy entered the backseat, her heart beating loudly in panic. How come Silas was harmed so severely? In her previous life, Silas hardly ever incurred any injuries.

"Is it painful?" Ivy asked in a low voice, her hand automatically reaching for the injury.

Silas waited for Ivy’s hand to reach near his forehead, like a cat waiting to be petted. When Ivy’s cold fingertips touched the gauze, he hissed.

Henry: "( – ⌓ – )

Go on, and I will rip out the entire gauze to expose you!

He watched as Ivy retracted her hand in panic and asked, "What type of mission was it? How can you be so gravely injured? If you had told me, I would have come to pick you up."

Silas shook his head, his face holding a slight, bitter expression, while his eyes stayed on Ivy,

"You are already so worried about everything else, how can I ask for your precious time? This injury might have healed on its own if there was someone who could care for it."

Ivy was befuddled, "Isn’t your team around? Why not ask someone from your team to take care of you?"

Henry chimed in, "Exactly, Captain. If you had said earlier, I would have arrived at your house like 5G internet."

Silas: (•_•)

Suppressing the fury rising in his heart, he showcased a martyr-like smile,

"No. Last time you came to take care of me, I had to wash the dishes and clean the bedroom because of your messy living habits."

Henry: Betrayals always come from the people you know.

His captain, who looked after them as if they were his child, didn’t feel any hesitation in exposing his shortcomings, just to lure the innocent lamb into his house.

He could feel Ivy’s strange stare, and his entire face was red. The fury of enduring the green tea drama his captain was enacting, combined with the fury of being embarrassed, short-circuited his brain, and he barked,

"What are you looking at? Everyone has some shortcomings! Unlike you, who had tricked our captain into handing his supplies, mine is still better."

Silence. The atmosphere stilled, and for a moment, Ivy froze. Her heart twisted painfully, and she lowered her head.

"Fifty laps around the military compound." Silas coldly ordered. His demeanor shifted from the rare vulnerability he was showing to his previous cold aura.

"But..." Henry opened his mouth to defend; however, Silas interjected, "Sixty."

Henry forced himself to shut up and looked at Ivy who had fallen silent. He regretted his hasty words.

The tension in the car reached its peak. No one spoke. Silas was in a particularly bad mood. He was 100% sure Ivy would end up staying for the next 20 days or so.

But now? He doubted if Ivy would even stay near him. What broke his heart even more was the sorrowful aura around Ivy.

He couldn’t bear to scold her, and here she was... getting scolded by his colleagues.

’Just you wait, Henry, if I don’t make you regret opening your mouth today, I will not be Silas Blackthorn anymore.’

Sensing the danger looming over him, Henry shivered in fear and took out his phone. He quickly briefed Amelia about the situation and asked what he should do.

At the same time, he cast a quick glance in Ivy’s direction, before giving a soft cough.

"Not a word." Silas harshly commanded, scaring Henry so much that his soul almost left his body. When the captain was furious, staying silent was the best solution.

However, if he stayed silent now, he was destined to be slaughtered like a pig once he reached the base.

"Ivy, I am sorry." He blurted out. Once he finished speaking, he cast a glance at the rear view mirror, and saw Ivy looking at him with a stunned expression.

He heaved a sigh of relief. Though Ivy had made mistakes, she was manipulated most of the time. Her only mistake was to love the Ravencroft family rather than Silas.

And now that she was making efforts to rectify her mistake, he shouldn’t have brought up the past, so he indeed felt guilty.

"I... sometimes blabber out too much nonsense," Henry sighed, "Though I indeed do not like you, it’s a fact that you are making amends for your past mistake. Sorry for dragging out past."

Ivy couldn’t believe her ears. Was this the same Henry who, on wrongly accusing her, would choose to ignore her instead of apologizing?

Henry saw the message his girlfriend had sent, and hesitated before biting the bullet and saying,

"However, it’s a fact that you have made a mistake. How about this? Take care of the captain till he gets cured completely. In this way, you can atone for your sin."

"Shut up." Silas barked harshly, "Don’t talk nonsense. You will run seventy laps around the military compound."

Henry wanted to cry. See! The method told by his girlfriend didn’t work at all! And now he was punished even more! freewebnøvel_com

Seventy laps? He wished to become a cheetah at this point; otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to finish seventy laps.

Just as he was wallowing in his misery, he received a message from Silas. Confused, he opened it and saw the message,

"Just run 40 laps."

Henry: (⊙ _ ⊙ )

What the f*ck? Did this method work? His girlfriend was a genius!

"Ivy, think about it. Captain lives all alone, and his parents are busy with their careers. There is no one to look after him. Just 2 hours ago, Captain was so dizzy he couldn’t even walk."
