One-Eyed Monster
Chapter 918 - 916: I Really Can Do It!
Igor found it odd why these people wouldn't let him finish his sentence.
Moreover, they kept trying to persuade him incessantly. What was this all about!
He believed he could bring Tobin Sol back; it was not blind confidence but a genuine, heartfelt one!
But why wouldn't they listen to his explanation?
Why didn't they listen to him? Why was it so hard to listen to what he had to say?
Igor understood inwardly, he felt that Tobin was trapped in the inner realm.
And it was an inner realm that connected the entire Spirit Power world.
For Igor, these things were quite normal because he had experienced them several times and had become quite familiar with them. Though many people could enter the inner realm, very few could reach the depths of the inner realm to arrive at the Spirit Power world, due to a strict requirement, which was that one had to be an Awakened One.
This was a very strange thing.
Some Awakened Ones were unable to enter the inner realm, while some who could enter the inner realm were not Awakened Ones.
Those who could enter the inner realm and were Awakened Ones were very few, and Igor happened to be one of the few.
But others didn't understand this. They now saw Igor as a hurried person, anxious because he couldn't help.
Such a mindset is indeed kind, but they considered Igor too young, too rash in his actions.
In any case, no one believed Igor had the ability to awaken Tobin Sol.
No one believed it at all.
Igor went away feeling silently saddened.
Waiting always feels long. No one knew what the Sol brothers were going to discuss, nor could they know. They could only slowly wait for the moment when Stan Sol emerged from that basement.
During this period, no one spoke; the entire scene was silent as night.
Governor Rostov was now in a dilemma because his initial selfish motives seemed doomed. He never expected the enemy behind the scenes to surpass all human boundaries.
Rostov now couldn't be sure if he could still make the decision to protect all of humanity. He felt he could protect his family, could protect the entire Luona, could protect the Kayne Empire, but asking him to protect the Ghost Realm's Mountain Monsters and Dwarves made him reluctant…
Moreover, he felt he couldn't persuade the entire Empire. In a moment, he felt utterly exhausted, lacking the ability to accomplish this task.
But ever since he was able to communicate with the slumbering Tobin, he knew his responsibilities had become heavier. The bias he held deep within him had begun to waver.
He didn't want to give up his ideal just like that, but in the face of this world, he was still very vulnerable.
Now he wanted to be quiet for a while and devise a comprehensive plan after the Sol brothers finished their discussion. As a Politician, he was supposed to make plans, and make perfect ones at that.
In his view, the earlier talk of the Black Crow had become insignificant. The deal with the Alchemy Workshop was nothing compared to survival. With the entire continent set to be occupied by spirits, what ambition could be left anyway?
What Rostov was truly torn about were these trivial matters because his inherent ambition was not that grand.
When the Alchemy Workshop came, their demands coincided with his ambitions, so he felt satisfied and readily collaborated with the Alchemy Workshop.
But now, the Spirit World that Igor brought introduced him to a sense of helplessness, as he felt he lacked the power to harness it. His ambition didn't reach that height, so he immediately conceded; he felt unable to play any role in such a vast scenario. This was his dilemma; the complexity of the Spirit World made him feel insignificant.
He felt he couldn't even save Sol, let alone the many others to come.
If Spirits fully invaded, he wouldn't have the capacity to manage, fearing that by that time, the Thunder Army and steam railways would be entirely useless…
Negative emotions quickly engulfed Stan Sol, leaving him confused about the situation.
Igor sensed something unusual in his Spirit Sensing Ability. He felt an odd sensation suddenly emerging, like tasting a pepper amid eating dessert—this reversal was too stark. Although both were sensations brought by Spirit Power, the emotions they evoked were vastly different.
Igor looked around, feeling that someone had undergone a change.
He looked at Perkins, who was still in contemplation, seemingly shocked by what he had seen and heard. This was Perkins' usual behavior, processing it. Then Igor suddenly felt his own actions were redundant since Perkins was a Non-adventurer, unaffected by Spirit Power.
He then turned to Hustace, the young man still eagerly waiting and even inching closer, showing evident admiration towards him. This was also typical of Hustace, so he wasn't the source of the Spirit Power change either.
As for Dean Hoffman, Igor couldn't detect any change in the old dean.
Igor couldn't yet perceive the Spirit Power fluctuations in these seniors, which was normal—his cultivation wasn't yet at that level!
Unless he could consume some fruit improving his cultivation or something, it would be hard for him to reach that stage…
Finally, only Governor Rostov was left.
Igor initially thought there wouldn't be any change in the Lord Governor, as he was Luona's highest commander, and his emotions should be the most stable…
However, as he applied his Spirit Sensing Ability to the governor, he was suddenly overwhelmed.
The Lord Governor was actually the source of the Spirit Power change!
And he could feel that this change was entirely negative!
This was a situation he could not allow.
Moreover, he believed he could change this phenomenon.
Yes, he could.
He was confident he could.
He was no longer the former Igor.
He decisively stepped in front of Governor Rostov, maintaining a calm demeanor.
"Lord Governor, don't be so negative; if controlled by such emotions, everything will end."
This inexplicable comment by Igor left everyone puzzled, yet Rostov was thoroughly shocked, never expecting Igor could discern the emotions he carried.
"You, how could you…"
"Don't ask that. I just know I can, just like how I know I can awaken Tobin. I truly can."
